Take a good look at me, because I am your future face!

"Reflekta, I am Hawk Moth. From now on you will be the only one people see. No one will ever ignore you again. However, you must do me a favor in return, when the time comes."
Hawk Moth

On class picture day, the photographer puts Emo Teen Juleka next to Adrien, which annoys Chloé. Juleka, already camera-shy due to having bad luck with cameras, breaks down when Chloé locks her in the girls' bathroom and causes her to miss the photo. Hawk Moth corrupts Juleka into Reflekta, an akuma that turns everyone into a mirror image of her.

Tropes:

  • Actually Pretty Funny: Ladybug can't stop giggling at how Cat Noir looks after Reflekta changes him.
  • Agony of the Feet: Cat Noir's not very fond of the platform pumps that come with his Reflekta transformation.
  • Angels Pose: Nino, Kim and Adrien do one around Juleka in one on photos they take together at the end of episode.
  • Batman Gambit: Ladybug lures Reflekta to the TV studio by announcing a plan.
  • Be Careful What You Wish For: Reflekta was born out of Juleka's disappointment at not getting a good class picture. Lucky Charm turns out to be a camera, which Ladybug uses to blind Reflekta after Cat Noir turns off the lights in the TV studios.
  • Blinding Camera Flash: Weaponized by Lucky Charm.
  • Brought Down to Badass: Cat Noir continues helping Ladybug even after Reflekta took his powers, even saving her twice.
  • Calling Your Attacks: This gets Cat in trouble; just as he's about to use Cataclysm, Reflekta changes him and depowers him.
  • Cant Get Away With Nothing: Marinette tries to delete the photo of her class so that the photographer will retake the photo with Juleka, and Chloé and Sabrina immediately catch her.
  • Cool, but Inefficient: Reflekta's only superpower (aside from strength and speed) is the ability to make everyone else look just like her. Using this power on Ladybug and Cat Noir however makes her unable to get their miraculous. Funny, considering Hawk Moth gave her these powers for the sole purpose of getting these miraculouses. Didn't Think This Through, did we, Hawk Moth?
  • Dirty Coward: The mayor. He tries to say Ladybug will stop Reflekta, but after getting transformed he reluctantly helps her since she promised to change him back.
  • Freeze-Frame Bonus: The first bad picture in the Photo Montage has several characters with different appearances than usual. Max has an afro and his shirt is blue, Marinette is wearing her hair in a single bun and has blue pants, Rose has longer hair like Marinette's current style, and Kim's shirt is yellow.
  • Gender Bender: All male victims of Reflekta suffer from this, though it is barely acknowledged with everybody being similarly upset about their new appearances.
  • Hostage for MacGuffin: Rather, MacGuffin for MacGuffin. When Chloé threatens to tattle on Marinette with video proof of the latter breaking into the principal's office, Marinette in turn threatens to delete the picture of Chloé with Adrien in exchange for the incriminating phone. Once she has it, Sabrina swipes the digital card from the camera, only for Marinette to grab it when they're distracted.
  • Karma Houdini: Marinette for stealing the digital card, and Chloé for locking Juleka in the girl's bathroom. Chloé's only punishment, which she enforces on herself, is that she's not in the new class photos, while Marinette deletes the evidence of her theft and returns the card.
  • Kicking Ass in All Her Finery: Cat has to when turned into Reflekta's mirror image. He lampshades the Impractically Fancy Outfit, heels and all. Very rare male example.
  • Kick the Dog: Chloé and Sabrina lock Juleka in the girls' bathroom so that Chloé will take her spot next to Adrien and she'll miss the picture.
  • Leaning on the Fourth Wall: Juleka's jinx extends to the Season 1 intro sequence, where her face is mostly covered by Nino's hand.
  • Nice Job Fixing It, Villain: Reflekta changing Cat into her mirror image ends up making his Miraculous vanish, before he could use an attack that would cause his transformation to run out. Hawk Moth is unamused when this happens.
  • No-Sell:
    • Ladybug's yoyo against Reflekta, who casually deflects every throw with her beams.
    • Reflekta's transforming blast against Cat Noir after he's already transformed.
  • Photo Montage: One of these is used to show Juleka's horrible luck with pictures. In order:
    • Max raises his hand and blocks her face.
    • A pigeon flies in front of her face.
    • She's halfway out of the frame, seemingly being pulled by someone else at the worst moment.
  • Picture Day: The backdrop of the episode is the class photo being taken.
  • Poke the Poodle: Considering what Chloé did, Reflekta changing her into a mirror image and saying she looked better that way counts as this.
  • Politeness Judo: After spending most of the episode trying to erase the previous class photo, Marinette decided to simply ask the photographer to shoot another one.
  • Running Gag: This is the third time Marinette had to steal someone's phone.
  • Shout-Out:
    • Reflekta's plan to turn everyone into her own image, sans becoming exactly like her, is similar to the Master's plan in Doctor Who, "The End of Time".
    • One of the photos the kids take with Juleka at the end of the episode resembles the iconic Charlie's Angels pose.
  • Shut Up, Hannibal!: The photographer doesn't know who Chloé's father is and only cares that she's acting like a brat about where she's sitting in the photo.
  • Skyward Scream: "WHERE IS CHLOÉ BOURGEOIS?!?"
  • Something Only They Would Say: Ladybug recognizes Cat Noir among Reflekta's copies when he calls her "My Lady".
  • Taking the Bullet: Cat Noir does it once again, but with less unfortunate results, since he's already affected by Reflekta's power at this point.
  • What the Hell, Hero?: Tikki chides Marinette for stealing the digital card since it's not ethical, even if she has good intentions.
  • Voices Are Mental: When Reflekta transforms someone, they retain their voices.
  • Zerg Rush: Cat Noir recruits the school students to charge Reflekta en masse so that she doesn't steal Ladybug's Miraculous.

Reflekta

Reflekta has pink skin and an eye-searingly pink frilly tutu ensemble that makes her look like a kabuki-themed clown. To make matters worse, her goal is to make everyone in Paris look exactly like her.

How well does it match the trope?
