Do I see double vision in my future? Or should I say double villain?

"Timebreaker, I am Hawk Moth. I'm granting you the power to retaliate against the people who've wronged you, and to go back in time to restore the future. But you must do me a favor in return, when the time is right..."
Hawk Moth

To celebrate Alix's fifteenth birthday, her father gives her a family heirloom: a one-of-a-kind holographic pocket watch. Unfortunately, it gets broken during her race with Kim. Furious and blaming her classmates, Alix is transformed by Hawk Moth into Timebreaker, capable of absorbing others' energy to increase her speed and ultimately travel back in time.

Tropes:

  • An Aesop: Alix learns to take responsibility for the care of her own possessions.
  • Asshole Victim: Timebreaker certainly thinks so of Kim, for all of his dares and bets. The fact that everyone else seems to be sick of him indicates this isn’t just Moral Myopia.
  • Darker and Edgier: Probably the first in the series, complete with the most deaths (even most of the kids from Collège Françoise Dupont), a few suggestive quotes and actions, and the idea of a threesome in a kids' show.
  • Dub-Induced Plot Hole: The dub left out that Alix's family heirloom is passed on on the 15th birthday of the youngest child in the family, making it look as if the writers forgot that she has an older brother or as if their father didn't like him.
  • Earn Your Happy Ending: Because Timebreaker was the one who caused Chloé to break the watch the second go-around, Lucky Charm fixes it.
  • Funny Background Event: Marinette is distracted by her dad calling her and misses the Akuma flying right by her towards Alix.
  • Heroic Sacrifice: Cat Noir protects Ladybug from Timebreaker's Touch of Death, at the cost of his life. Thankfully, he gets better thanks to Time Travel.
  • Idiot Ball: When handed Alix's precious pocket watch, no-one thinks to put it in their pocket.
  • Magic A Is Magic A: Ladybug's World-Healing Wave only fixes casualties of the fight between her and Akumatized villains; however, in the new timeline, the watch was destroyed due to Timebreaker's sudden appearance.
  • Misplaced Retribution: Downplayed. Marinette's parents gently scold her for not waiting for Nadja in the bakery, which resulted in Nadja not getting her order right away when she arrived. However, Nadja was the one who arrived a few minutes before the scheduled time without informing any of them and then immediately demanded that she be given her order early. Had she arrived on schedule, Marinette might've been ready for her to pick up her order. Granted, Marinette's parents didn't know she had left the bakery due to a commitment she made with her friends and thought she was still upstairs in her room, and it can be argued that Marinette shouldn't have tried to cut it so close. Nonetheless, Tom and Sabine never reproach Nadja for expecting to be given her order ahead of the scheduled time just because she arrived early without telling them, all on a day when the bakery is supposed to be closed to the general public due to Tom and Sabine's anniversary.
  • My New Gift Is Lame: Alix's initial reaction to the family watch, believing that her modern watch is more impressive. This changes when her father displays the hidden hologram gimmick the old watch has.
  • Never My Fault: Predictably, Chloé claims she had nothing to do with the destruction of Alix's watch, despite being the one to drop it. Also, Timebreaker blames Ladybug for the second destruction of her watch, despite the fact that all Ladybug did was tell her to put the watch down while she was the one who startled her.
  • Pet the Dog: Chloé is genuinely impressed and cheers for Alix when she arrives and shows off her skills.
  • Rewatch Bonus: Alix, her father, a pocket watch that shouldn't exist, Time powers. All that's missing is rabbit!
  • Schizo Tech: Alix's watch makes a small holographic projection even though it's decades old. Even acknowledged.
Alix's dad: Let's just say our ancestor was ahead of his time.
  • Set Right What Once Went Wrong: Timebreaker plans to go back to save her watch.
  • Shout-Out:
    • The way Timebreaker travels in time is reminiscent of the Delorean, without the flaming trails after disappearing.
    • A student named Rose is tricked into giving her temporal energy to Timebreaker. May be coincidental but still...
  • Taking the Bullet: Cat Noir saves Ladybug from having her energy stolen by shielding her with his body. Thankfully, Time Travel fixes that.
  • Twin Threesome Fantasy: Cat Noir's reaction to having two Ladybugs show up.
    "Two Ladybugs?? I'm in heaven!"
  • Wounded Gazelle Gambit: Timebreaker manages to trick Rose into getting absorbed by asking her to help her get up.
  • You Already Changed the Past: Averted. Timebreaker's arrival causes the destruction of the watch, in completely different circumstances than the first time it happened.
