Recap / Mighty Morphin' Power Rangers S3E3 A Friend in Need Part 3

Go To

Kimberly's sickness turns into a useful weapon when facing Repellator. The Rangers must help Masked Rider and the rebels put a stop to the Cogworts and Plague Patrol, and in the process, strike a blow for freedom on Edenoi. Then, they'll have to get back to Earth in time to help their ill teammate face the Repellator monster! And, are Bulk and Skull in over their heads when the monster thinks they're actually Rangers?

Tropes:

  • All for Nothing: The rangers going to Edenoi didn't do anything to change the outcome at the end. Lexian spells out to Dex that their planet is done for and that he needs to leave before it explodes.
  • Chuck Cunningham Syndrome: Aside from a brief mention in the Alien Rangers Saga and an appearance on a TV show watched in Time Force, no one from the Masked Rider series is ever referenced again, excluding Dex in "Alien Rangers of Aquitar, Part 1". Don't look for any Power Rangers references in Masked Rider either; Saban ordered links between the shows severed due to Power Rangers' ratings declining and wanting to push a more sitcom-esque show. This proved to not be the best of ideas.
  • Foreshadowing: Dregon taking an interest in Earth establishes that other interstellar parties beyond Zedd and Rita are beginning to take notice of the small, annoying little planet and its team of defenders. This will continue with Rito Revolto next episode, Master Vile late in the Season, and the Machine Empire the following year.
  • Know When to Fold Them: After Repelletor's attack and the girls deciding to move on to "real men", Bulk agrees with Skull about any schemes involving the Power Rangers:
Bulk: Skull, if I ever say anything regarding the Power Rangers again, staple my mouth shut.
    Skull: With pleasure.
  • Nice Job Breaking It, Hero: Because the Rangers came to help Masked Rider, Dregon and his forces now have their sights set on Earth. Not that it'll have any consequences regarding them, mind you.
  • Nonindicative Name: At no point is the Masked Rider seen riding anything. Some of the villains have horses, but not Dex.
  • Poorly Disguised Pilot: For Masked Rider.
  • Shout-Out: Bulk and Skull's "Power Ranger" suits have capes, like the Gorangers and JAKQ.
