A day at the beach for Tommy, Kimberly, Trini and Trini's young neighbor Hallie is interrupted by Goldar and the Putties. Goldar kidnaps the young girl and holds her for ransom on Lord Zedd's mystical Venus Island. The Rangers must race against the clock to get to Venus Island before it vanishes. Unfortunately, Zedd has the Invenusable Flytrap monster guarding the way.
Tropes:
- Blatant Lies: While fleeing with Hallie, Goldar accidentally drops the bottle with his instructions from Lord Zedd. He tries to claim he lost it in a battle, but Zedd sees through it.
- Empathy Doll Shot: When they hear Hallie calling for help, the Rangers run after her and the camera briefly focused on her sandcastle they accidentally stepped on.
- Even Evil Has Standards: Rather uncharacteristically for Zedd, he orders Goldar and the Putties to not hurt Hallie.
- George Lucas Altered Version: The original Fox Kids broadcast had Jason and Zack's stand-in voices, Paul F. Rosenthal and Joel Rogers, dub the Red and Black Rangers since Austin St. John and Walter Jones had stopped showing up for the ADR sessions due to monetary issues (Thuy Trang still did ADR work for this one as she was the last one to walk). All home media versions removed Rosenthal and Rogers' voices from the scenes they originally spoke in, making it seem like Billy and Kimberly were just talking to themselves.
- Innocuously Important Episode: Meta variation; it was the first episode of the series to be penned by future producer Judd Lynn.
- Man-Eating Plant: The Invenusable Flytrap, who was able to swallow two-thirds of the Ranger team.
- Stock Footage: Zyuranger footage used for the Mountain of Hope and the Island of Illusion is used for Venus Island seen through the Viewing Globe.
- Tempting Fate: When Lord Zedd holds Goldar responsible for the Invenusable Flytrap losing, Squatt and Baboo comment that at least the same doesn't go for them. Zedd then proceeds to chew them out too.
