"Captain Donald" (Working titles "Sailboat Time" and "Donald the Sailor") is the seventh season 2 short of the new Mickey Mouse (2013) series created by Paul Rudish for the Disney Channel and Disney.com. It's the 25th to air on the Disney Channel and put up on Disney.com.
Mickey, Minnie and Daisy visit Donald Duck to have a ride on the sailboat after he told them he'd take them sailing one day. However, Donald doesn't know how to sail and thus must beat the odds to fulfil his promise.
Tropes:
- Furry Reminder: Ducks can fly, hence Donald's attempt at flying.
- Good-Looking Privates: Daisy loves a man in uniform, thus the reason Donald dresses like a sailor and later a pilot.
- Here We Go Again!: At the end, after Daisy gives Donald a pilot uniform, Mickey asks him if he can fly a plane. Donald hastily denies it. Mickey gives himself a Face Palm.
- Meaningful Name: Donald's sailboat is named "Gone-a-Fowl".
- "No. Just… No" Reaction: Mickey has this reaction after witnessing Donald's attempt at flying up to open the sail.Mickey: Yeah, no, you can just...just stop.
- The Reveal: The origin of Donald's sailor outfit. It was a gift from Daisy and he kept wearing it because she loves a man in uniform. He's not really a sailor. Also, despite being a duck, Donald can't fly.
- The Pirates Who Don't Do Anything: Lampshaded by the short. Despite Donald wearing a sailor outfit and owning a boat, he has no experience of being an actual sailor. He only wore a sailor's outfit to please Daisy, who unfortunately took it as a sign that Donald is a professional sailor.
- Threatening Shark: At one point, Donald is besieged by one of these. As it gives chase, Donald pedals the boat as hard as he can to escape from it, but it takes a huge bite out of his boat and then chases him across the water. Mickey saves him in the nick of time, however.
- Volumetric Mouth: Daisy and Minnie's mouths get like this when they scream, after the wind in the storm makes Donald's shirt pop up and cause the boat to sail forward fast.
