Recap / Metalocalypse S 1 E 10 Fat Kid At The Detharmonic

Go To

The band experiments with fatherhood while dealing with tax season.

  • Abusive Parents: The band show they're not fatherhood material by leaving Fatty chained outside like a dog, tasering him, feeding him nothing but junk food, having him neutered, and finally killing him off by abandoning him on a nuclear island full of feral cats.
  • Bring My Brown Pants: When Nathan gets Fatty into a chokehold, or "hug therapy" as he calls it, he gets a whiff of something rotten and realizes Fatty had to go to the bathroom.
  • Cats Are Mean: The band opens up the Dethklok Home for Wayward Kitties, opening up a giant cage full of feral cats that attack the fans gathered at Krangor Island. The cats feast on Fatty at the end of the episode.
  • Eaten Alive: Fatty's fate in the episode is being eaten alive by the swarm of feral cats on Krangor Island although he survives this according to Word of God.
  • Energy Weapon: The lasers for the band's charity concert slice the London Philharmonic Orchestra in half.
  • Extreme Omnivore: Besides burgers and fries, Fatty is seen eating non-food items like a wall and a drum cymbal.
  • Fostering for Profit: Dethklok makes it clear that their sole motivation for fostering Fatty is for tax deduction reasons albeit Charles says that it wouldn't help it with that at all. Albeit this kind of falls under Fridge Logic since most countries will give foster parents money to care for the child (granted we don't know which jurisdiction this would fall under since Mordland's location isn't made clear) and all of them should be able to declare Fatty as a dependent which makes them eligible for tax returns so Charles is partially wrong, albeit it's possible he meant that it wouldn't be a wise investment with practically no return.
  • I Resemble That Remark!: Offdensen tries to get the band to rehome Fatty due to not being a profitable investment which Nathan calls him out for being so cold and heartless-sounding only to immediately clarify that they already tried that it didn't work.
  • "I Want" Song: "DethHarmonic" is a song about Nathan, who wants to keep his money and not pay any taxes.
  • Gratuitous Russian: The laser orb has Cyrillic letters on the interface panel and button.
  • Laser Sight: Nathan plays with a laser pointer during the meeting, pointing the beam directly into Murderface and Skwisgaar's eyes.
  • Nose Bleed: Toki gives himself one by forcing all his blood to his face, believing it's called a blowjob.
  • Only Known by Their Nickname: Fatty is only known by his nickname. Not even the Tribunal has any info other than that he was bounced from one foster home to another.
  • Platonic Co-Parenting: All five of the members are listed as Fatty's foster fathers.
  • Rage Breaking Point: The band had been willing to just barely tolerate Fatty killing the London Philharmonic Orchestra, but him eating Murderface's Civil War shoes was the last straw.
  • Remember the New Guy?: Offdensen is concerned when he asks the band where they got a child, who play it off like he's always been there.
  • The Voiceless: Fatty doesn't speak any words, only making pig squeals.
