• Bittersweet Ending: Bud misses out on a lot, but he at least manages to get his parents arrested and his sister presumably fired.
• Meaningless Villain Victory: Giving Kelly the money over Bud actually gets Kelly the job. However, if they had given it to Bud he would've won more than they gave him. Not only that, the end result gets Al arrested and presumably Kelly fired for taking part in the con. Additionally, his weenie tots get destroyed by Peg.
• Misblamed: In-Universe. Kelly is blamed for the con failing even though it would've failed had they not told her. She would've recognized Jefferson D'Arcy regardless and the series of events would've unfolded the same way.
• Never My Fault: Marcy blames Al and Jefferson for the scam failing and her bracelet getting seized. Even though she not only agreed to the con herself, but didn't get her marriage to Jefferson annulled after learning of his criminal past.
• Surprisingly Realistic Outcome: Jefferson winning the contest causes his newly found assets to be seized to repay those he conned in his Lake Chicamicomico scam. And since Marcy is married to him, the debt is collective and hers are seized too.
