Recap / Lost Girl S 3 E 2 Subterr Faenean

Go To

Kenzi sees a friend disappear at an art show and gets Bo's help to track her down. Meanwhile, Dyson has a new partner to replace Hale (new Acting Ash).

  • Abhorrent Admirer: Whether it's because No Guy Wants to Be Chased or because of fidelity to his long-deceased wife, Trick doesn't particularly appreciate being avidly pursued by a Hard-Drinking Party Girl.
  • Belligerent Sexual Tension: One interpretation of the conflict between Bo and Tamsin. Or between Dyson and Tamsin.
  • Berserk Button: Apparently the last person who said Vex looked like Robert Smith from The Cure has only recently learned how to walk again.
    • Atticus also doesn't like people assuming he's just an animal.
  • Buddy Cop Show: Dyson has a new cop partner... see Odd Couple.
  • Call-Back: Bo is having nightmares about the man she attacked at the end of the previous episode. And according to Bo, she doesn't recall attacking him.
  • Corrupt Cop: Chief Hamlin, Dyson's boss, who is determined to wipe out the Under Fae at any cost. Turns out it's because he's the Pied Piper and he doesn't want evidence of his crimes to be exposed.
  • Fanservice: Bo and Lauren's bed time fun shows a lot of skin. Then we see Dyson, shirtless, in a boxing ring with another shirtless beefcake.
  • Fantastic Racism: Regarding underground Fae snatching people.
Dyson: Yeah, they've been taking other humans. More importantly, some Fae city workers have gone missing and we've been ordered to investigate.
  • Go Mad from the Isolation: Many of the Sewer Gator Fae have become feral and bestial from almost a century of confinement in the sewers. Atticus is seemingly the only one who retained his sanity (implied to be because of his determination to avenge the murders of his wife and son).
  • Good Cop/Bad Cop: Dyson and Tamsin, in a more literal fashion than usual.
  • Grand Dame: Trick's pursuer.
  • Groin Attack: Bo threatens Vex with one of these when she leaves the house while Lauren is still there.
Bo: If you go near my girlfriend, the little balls on the Christmas tree next year will have (in a British accent) a certain panache!
Vex: Hook up illegal cable, and what do I get? Threats against my junk. Typical.
  • Hard-Drinking Party Girl: The woman who pursues Trick.
  • It's Personal: The Pied Piper killed Atticus's wife and son. Bo's more than happy to let the guy take his revenge.
  • Odd Couple: Dyson's new partner is Tamsin. Not just a woman, but a Dark Fae... it's part of a new peace initiative by Dark and Light.
  • Oh, Crap!: The Pied Piper when he realises his powers won't work on Atticus because after 90 years of living in the dark, Atticus has evolved to no longer need his eyes, so the Pied Piper's powers don't affect him.
    • Also the Weaver's reaction to what is causing Bo to have night terrors.
  • Pay Evil unto Evil: Atticus tears the Pied Piper's throat out with his teeth.
  • Pet the Dog: As acting Ash, Hale has Atticus and his people relocated to a safe location where they won't be disturbed.
  • Psychic Nosebleed: When Bo and Kenzi push Ozzie on what happened when he was kidnapped, he struggles with fake memories for a bit before collapsing.
  • Sixth Ranger: In addition to Vex being added to the ensemble, we also get Tamsin.
  • Southern Gentleman: Atticus, the leader of the Sewer Gator Fae. He's polite and courteous, even kissing Bo's hand in gratitude for delivering the Pied Pier to him.
  • Superior Species: Vex certainly believes so of the Fae. He's certain the performers at the beginning weren't Fae, because they sucked. He grants the killers may have been, because that performance had "a certain panache".
  • Tears of Blood: The disease afflicting the humans.
  • Token Evil Teammate: We have two now; Vex and Tamsin.
  • Waistcoat of Style: In keeping with his Southern Gentleman vibe, Atticus wears one of these, and an impressive suit of white alligator skin.
