As 8:00 AM hits, Blythe's alarm clock beeps, and Blythe wakes up to a day intended all to herself, to do whatever and whenever she wants. The Littlest Pet Shop regulars greet her as she wakes up and proceeds to assist her in everything she wants. When Blythe is ready to start the day, they head down the dumbwaiter and sees that a large group of animals are at the day camp window peering in, waiting for Blythe. Alarmed, Blythe rushes to the window and opens it, only to find out that this crowd extends down to at least the end of the alleyway. A dog leaps into the day camp, admonishes her for making them wait, and asks for her help, as word had spread about Downtown City that Blythe can speak to animals. Although initially reluctant because it would fill up her free day, the animals perform Puppy-Dog Eyes on Blythe, and she relents.

Blythe sits down on the armchair in the day camp room and starts counseling the animals bit by bit. After helping a chameleon regain confidence over a new tree branch, Blythe realizes she's been at it for an hour and asks Sunil and Vinnie, who are standing by the window, how the line is doing. They tell Blythe that the line has only gotten longer, and Blythe grudglingly continues counseling while remaining positive. After advising a group of rabbits to avoid drinking water before sleeping, she sees a fuchsia ferret is next up in line. Blythe picks her up and asks what her problem is, only to get a response in an unfamiliar language. Unfortunately, Blythe, utterly confused, puts the ferret back down, who tries to explain her troubles again to the Littlest Pet Shop regulars, who also cannot understand her. Nevertheless, the ferret introduces herself as what Blythe and the regulars interpret as "Jebbie" and choose to call her that.

Minka overhears the talking and comes in, telling Blythe that she has knowledge on hundreds of languages and offers to translate between Blythe and Jebbie. To that extent, Blythe takes Minka and Jebbie up the dumbwaiter and to Blythe's room and entrusts Zoe and Russell to take care of the other animals' problems, which makes Zoe nervous upon watching the crowd around her.

Listening to Jebbie talk, Blythe feels that she's heard this language recently. Minka takes a listen too and concludes Jebbie is speaking Icelandic, which she calls "Icelandish." Minka then tries yelling slowly and loudly at Jebbie, but this simply scares her, and Blythe achieves no further progress with Minka's help.

At the day camp, the animals who have come to see Blythe are growing restless and demand to see her specifically. Russell, knowing Blythe may not be ready for some time, jumps in and offers to help the pets themselves. After a couple of easy cases, they figure solving problems is for them. To that end, they enter a fantasy where Russell and Zoe are the hosts of a daytime talk show, Pet Problems Question Mark. Their first guest is a claustrophobic turtle, who refuses to go into her shell. Russell provides stylized but essentially useless advice to the turtle—regardless, the turtle finds the willpower to go into her shell and announces herself cured onstage, to Pepper's surprise. The program goes off the air, and Pepper congratulates Russell and Zoe but warns them that there are many more animals in need of help.

In Blythe's room, Blythe and Minka still have no progress in figuring out Jebbie's problem. Blythe resorts to taking guesses with hand gestures. She guesses Jebbie dislikes the food she's given, that her pillow is uncomfortable, that she doesn't like her new tree branch, and that she wets her bed, but Jebbie simply reiterates her problem in her native tongue, growing increasingly concerned. Blythe figures she's not the right person to turn for help and collapses back onto her bed in exasperation. Minka then offers up some possibilities, heading out to the park: They visit the jungle gym, try on eyeglasses and a mustache for Jebbie, play with hula hoops, and go diving, but to no avail. While Minka remains optimistic, Blythe frets that whatever Jebbie's problem is, they're running out of time.

On the Pet Problems Question Mark set, Zoe suggests to Pepper to zoom the camera in closer. When Pepper voices concern that Russell will be out of frame, Zoe doesn't see it as so bad. Zoe then requests a wardrobe change every 30 seconds and after each sentence, and Russell asks for close-ups of his newly-written book so that he can sign autographs in them. Frustrated, Pepper stomps offstage with her clipboard.

Blythe slumps on the curb nearby Sweet Delights, ready to give up, until she hears some speaking in Jebbie's language. Initially thinking it's Jebbie, Minka points out that her mouth wasn't moving. Blythe notices the speaking coming from around the corner and sees Youngmee discussing in Korean with Christie and figures Jebbie is speaking Korean. Blythe rushes over and hurriedly tells Youngmee that she wants to learn Korean. Youngmee is initially confused at this sudden request but is soon pleased. She begins with some basic phrases and greetings but is instead presented with a list of specific things to say. Blythe gives her a pen, and she jots down her translations. Once finished, Blythe scrambles out of Sweet Delights.

On the set for Pet Problems Question Mark, Zoe and Russell are on Pepper's case for Pepper cutting out Zoe's musical number and Russell's cooking segment. Pepper angrily tells them that they're supposed to be helping pets, but they are both still convinced that they are in spite of their refusal to help a cat with a fear of rejection. When Pepper sees Zoe and Russell yelling at the cat to go away, she reaches her limits and pulls the plug on the program.

In Blythe's room, Blythe clumsily recites what Youngmee wrote down. Jebbie, delighted that Blythe can now communicate with her, responds with another sentence in Korean. Blythe jots it down and hands it to Youngmee, who translates it as the speaker having gotten out of her crate and is unable to find her owner. Although perplexed, Blythe has figured it out and runs full speed back to her room, mistakenly leaving her notepad with Youngmee. Explaining the situation to Minka, Blythe attempts to try to figure out which plane Jebbie's owner may be on. Seeing a picture of her father Roger's Pet Jet, she shows Jebbie a promotional picture of it, and Jebbie recognizes it—realizing that Jebbie did come to the right person, Blythe puts Jebbie in Roger's red bag knowing that Roger has a flight to Korea later that day. In addition, Minka gives Jebbie an ice pop and a picture of a snowman to help remind her of "Icelandia."

At that moment, Vinnie and Penny Ling find Blythe and ask for her immediate assistance in the day camp. Blythe heads down the dumbwaiter, only to find all of the animals Russell and Zoe attempted to help are worse off than before. When Blythe confronts them, Russell, Zoe, and Pepper make haste out the door. In addition, Minka informs Blythe that Roger had taken the black flight bag and not the red one, so Blythe sprints out of the room, leaving the animals disappointed. Seeing the situation, Sunil emerges from the fire hydrant and tells the pets to return the following day but also that their problems are theirs to resolve and that Blythe can only help so far, and with enough commitment, they can conquer them without Blythe. Satisfied, the creatures leave the room, with Pepper asking Sunil if he'd be interested in hosting a talk show.

Blythe zooms down the city in her scooter but is soon caught up in a traffic jam. Minka offers her help though, which consists of screaming insults at the drivers in front of them. To other humans' ears, however, she sounds like a police siren, so they pull to the side to allow Blythe to quickly reach the airport. Blythe finds Roger still in the airport, so she hands him his red bag. Roger, however, tells Blythe that his black bag is for international flights whereas the red one is only for domestic flights. With some confusing logic, Blythe convinces him that it's the other way around, and Roger takes his red bag to the plane. From the window, Blythe and Minka see Jebbie reunited with her owner and are relieved at a job well done.

When Blythe returns to the Littlest Pet Shop, she finds Youngmee standing in front of it. Youngmee tells Blythe that she has discovered Blythe's secret, that she wants Youngmee to accompany her on a future trip to Korea but jokingly tells Blythe not to put her in a crate. Blythe sees the Pet Jet flying overhead and says farewell to Jebbie in Korean.

This episode contains examples of (YMMV entries go here):

  • 2D Visuals, 3D Effects: The traffic, and Blythe's scooter this time too.
  • Angrish: Pepper devolves into this when Zoe and Russell get incredibly vain and demanding.
  • Artistic License – Biology: One of the pets with a problem is a turtle who refuses to put her shell back on due to claustrophobia. Turtle shells are quite firmly a part of their bodies and don't come off.
  • Artistic License – Geography: Korea is just referred to as Korea, with no specification of North or South. Most likely it's South Korea, whose government prefers people call it simply as "Korea."
  • Bilingual Dialogue: Once Blythe figures out Jebbie's problem, she is able to figure out what Jebbie wants based on her emotional state and body language.
  • Brick Joke/Funny Background Event/Properly Paranoid: Zoe's first case is a dog who's scared of fire hydrants, convinced there's a gorilla in it. By Act 3, a gorilla is visible in the room. That being said, the gorilla had always been in the crowd on the outside prior to then.
  • Captain Obvious: When Blythe says, "This ferret just talked to me," Zoe is noticeably confused at why Blythe stated something so obvious.
  • Collective Groan: When Blythe leaves the day camp room again, in Act 3, to give Roger his red flight bag.
  • Continuity Nod: Blythe covers Russell up in a knitted scarf, revealing only his eyes and an ear. Russell previously covered himself until only his eyes were visible in "The Hedgehog in the Plastic Bubble," though in bubble wrap.
  • Directionally Solid Platforms: The cloud Blythe lies on in "A Perfect Day."
  • Dutch Angle: When Blythe returns to the day camp in Act 3, the camera remains in mostly Dutch angles until Russell, Zoe, and Pepper leave the room.
  • "Eureka!" Moment: Hearing Youngmee speaking Jebbie's language is what causes Blythe to realize she's speaking Korean and only Youngmee can translate for her.
  • Foreshadowing: Jebbie can be seen right at the window before she comes in. She is the only animal to not react to anything Desperate Dog or Blythe say, indicating that she has problems understanding them.
  • Gone Horribly Wrong: The faulty advice Zoe and Russell give out have brought more problems among the pets asking for advice by Act 3.
  • Hakuna Matata: "A Perfect Day" is this type of song.
  • Hammerspace: No mention is made about how the larger animals made it in, especially without Mrs. Twombly noticing.
  • Hollywood Chameleons: Changes colors like one, but unlike most examples, he changes colors based on his mood and not for camouflage.
  • Hypocritical Humor: Zoe and Russell remain convinced they're helping animals when it's obvious they've turned Pet Problems Question Mark into their personal vanity showcase.
  • Imagine Spot: Pet Problems Question Mark, which takes up much of the B-story.
  • Idiosyncratic Wipes: The pawprint logo for Pet Problems Question Mark zooms around in Act 2.
  • It's All About Me: Being on camera, even an imaginary one, quickly gets to Zoe's and Russell's heads to where they don't care about the guests, or even each other. Russell also gets Penny Ling's name wrong.
  • Jerkass Ball: Zoe is normally pretty vain, but rarely willingly at the expense of others. Russell, on the other hand, has never been so selfish before, at least without some Sanity Slippage.
  • Judgment of Solomon: Russell's solution to the inability of a pair of possums to share a stick of bread is to chop the bread in half.
  • Know-Nothing Know-It-All: Minka has this attitude in regards to languages, which turns out to greatly hinder Blythe.
  • Language Barrier: Jebbie speaks almost entirely in Korean, rendering Blythe unable to solve her problem as Blythe cannot understand her.
  • Messy Hair: Blythe, for most of "A Perfect Day."
  • Noodle Incident: After Blythe convinces Roger to bring the wrong bag on board, he says he won't make that mistake again, implying he's brought the wrong bag onboard before.
  • Omniglot: Minka thinks she's one. She's not. She mistakes short phrases (Gratuitous Italian and Gratuitous Spanish) for French.
  • Only Sane Man: Pepper is the only one of the pets genuinely interested in trying to help rather than to look good. Unfortunately, she takes as much blame as Russell and Zoe.
  • Potty Failure: A group of bunnies have a bedwetting problem.
  • Product Placement: In-universe example. Russell soon becomes consumed with getting endorsements and shilling his book.
  • Puppy-Dog Eyes: The entire group of pets in the alley do this to Blythe at once, and it works. Note that this includes animals like a rhinoceros, a camel, and a gorilla.
  • A Rare Sentence: "Would you like some...ferret chow for lunch?"
  • Removable Shell: The turtle stays outside of her shell and is afraid to go in.
  • Running Gag: Titles with punctuation marks in the B-story fantasy are always spoken out loud period.
  • Screw This, I'm Outta Here: Russell, Zoe, and Pepper leave the day camp room when Blythe asks them what happened.
  • Shout-Out: Blythe is accompanied by birds as she sings in this episode like with Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs. The birds then hand Blythe her clothes needed to change, like in Cinderella.
  • Shrinking Violet: The turtle on Pet Problems Question Mark, though an inversion in that she refuses to go into her shell.
  • Solid Clouds: In "A Perfect Day," Blythe lounges on a cloud, then heads down further.
  • Squee: When Youngmee hears Blythe wants to learn Korean.
    • Again from Jebbie when Blythe asks her, in Korean, what her problem is.
    • One more from Youngmee when she concludes Blythe wants Youngmee to accompany her on a trip to Korea.
  • Suddenly Shouting: Minka is prone to this when trying to communicate with Jebbie. This causes Jebbie to fear her.
  • Sure, Let's Go with That: Youngmee assumes Blythe wants to learn Korean to accompany her on a future trip to Korea. Blythe decides to let her think she's right. for now.
  • Tempting Fate: Blythe goes into a musical number about how she'll spend her day to herself. That would make for a very boring episode if that was what actually happened.
Desperate Dog: We've been waiting out there for hours! It's not like you've got nothing to do today…
  • Translation by Volume: Minka's way of attempting to communicate with Jebbie. Minka is convinced it will eventually work, but all it does is scare Jebbie.
  • Troubled Fetal Position: One of the possums Russell helped early winds up rocking back and forth in a fetal position by Act 3.
  • Umbrella Drink: Blythe drinks a (presumably) nonalcoholic one before going down the dumbwaiter for the day.
