Recap / Letterkenny S 01 E 06 A Fuss In The Back Bush

Go To

"Pack o' coyotes come right up the back porch the other night, 'cause your dog's in heat and you know those fuckin' yellow-eyed bastards go right through the screen door if they're horny."

Wayne and Daryl are intending to go coyote hunting, but after some discussion, Daryl accidentally discovers that someone's been growing weed in Wayne's back bush, and we get the credits. Back at Wayne and Katy's house, Katy confirms that it's definitely weed. Daryl thinks they should call the cops, but Wayne and Katy are against it. Katy in particular thinks they should sell the weed and use the money for repairs around the farm. She knows a guy at the Rez who'd buy it, so rather than calling the cops, which will get people talking, Wayne tells her to call her guy.

In the basement, Tanis and the Natives sell Stewart and the Skids cheap cigarettes, but emphasises that they're for personal use only and that if the Skids resell them, the Natives will not be amused. Since the Skids are... well, idiots, they immediately resell them at a huge markup. Unfortunately for them, a young Native boy sees this and tells Tanis, who is not amused.

At the Rez, Wayne, Katy and Daryl sell the weed to Katy's contact, Wally, for five grand. It's revealed that Tanis is Wally's estranged daughter, and he warns the Hicks that they should do their best to stay out of her way if they can.

Over at the hockey rink, the Shamrocks have just lost a game, much to Coach's ire. Reilly and Jonesy note that the rookie's behaviour seems off, and quickly deduce that he's on meth. They realise that Letterkenny has become a meth town, blame Stewart and decide that they're going to fight him.

At the dollar store parking lot, the young Native boy from before has conned Stewart and Devon into thinking that he wants to buy from them, but it's actually a trap- Tanis and her crew are there. Tanis is predictably pissed that the Skids tried to fuck her over, but offers them a deal- they sell the rest of the cigarettes at the marked-up price, but give most of it to Tanis. Devon wants to take the deal, but Stewart refuses, because he's an idiot. He and Devon prepare for a fight, but Tanis laughs, asking if they really thought resolving the matter would be as simple as taking a beating. On the contrary, until she gets what she's owed, Letterkenny will burn.

At the farm, the Hicks are building a new produce stand. Dan winds up admitting that he finds Katy very attractive and flees Wayne's inevitable ire, only for Wayne and everyone else to just look really confused.

Outside the Skids' house, Reilly and Jonesy hype each other up for a donnybrook. However, when they actually decide to do it, they find that the basement has been utterly trashed and nobody's there. Undaunted, they decide to find the Skids and then have that fight.

That night, Wayne and Katy run out of their house to find that the new produce stand is on fire, and by the time they get there, it's beyond saving. Next morning, Wally comes by to pick up the weed and apologises. Wayne, who has no idea why the stand was burned, demands clarification and gets it: the Skids, who Wally (and probably Tanis) thinks are friends of the Hicks (though Wayne angrily corrects him), ripped Tanis off, so she's going to make it everyone's problem. He adds that Tanis won't stop until she gets what she's owed, and leaves. Daryl comments that if Tanis comes back, she won't be alone, and Wayne says that the Hicks won't either.

Back at the dollar store parking lot, the Skids are confronted by the hockey players, who accuse Stewart of giving the rookie meth and turning Letterkenny into a meth town. Before they can fight, they're confronted by Tanis and a crowd of Natives. When asked, Stewart says that no, they don't have the Natives' money and they won't in the future, because their source of income was destroyed when the Natives trashed their basement. Tanis thinks this is funny, and repeats that Letterkenny will continue to burn until she gets her money.

She starts to leave, but is confronted by the Hicks, Joint Boy, and two new guys who she correctly deduces are the Ginger and Boots. She and Wayne discuss them for a short while, with Tanis being of the belief that bringing them to this fight was an incredibly daring and ruthless move. She tells Wayne to say his piece; he says that while it's a shame that the Natives got ripped off, it wasn't his business until they made it his business. They could have a fight, and one day they will, but it won't solve the problem. So he offers her the five grand from Wally and lays out a deal: Tanis and the Natives take the money, leave and don't come back to Letterkenny, because if they do, then there'll be that fight. Tanis accepts the deal, but instead of leaving, she gives Stewart a blistering speech about how he's a terrible person. Katy takes offence and kicks Tanis in the crotch, starting the fight.

After the fight, the Hicks, Skids and hockey players go to MoDean's for a drink. They're getting along quite well when a new guy walks in and demands to know who the toughest guy there is. Wayne answers the challenge, goes outside to fight him... and is knocked down with one punch.
