  • Bittersweet Ending: Thomas Mathers is arrested for the rapes and remanded without bail, but Miranda Cole kills herself from the voices in her head getting louder after her attack.
  • Cut Himself Shaving: Thomas Mathers says this excuse when he has blood on his shirt.
  • Gayngst: Thomas is living with his boyfriend, whom confirms they are in an active sexual relationship. Thomas vehemently denies this though, claiming the idea he would sleep with a man "disgusting" and getting angry when its pressed.
  • Hearing Voices: Miranda Cole is a paranoid schizophrenic and one of the episode's rape victims.
  • Hates Being Touched: Miranda Cole due to being a schizophrenic thinking people are trying to put listening devices in her.
  • Jerkass Ball: During their latest case, Olivia and Elliot get help from Dr. Rebecca Hendrix (which Olivia has a dislike towards) since her patient, who has paranoid schizophrenia was raped. When Stabler calls out Benson on her animosity towards the doctor, it was revealed that she wasn't happy that Rebecca quit being a cop to become a psychiatrist.
  • No Bisexuals: A suspect for rapes of several women turns out to have a boyfriend, and everyone is suddenly puzzled about how he could've done that. They settle on the explanation that he attacks women for a power trip, but the idea that he might simply be attracted to both sexes doesn't cross their mind.
  • Power Dynamics Kink: Thomas seems to only attack women who he can feel superior over; two of them were single mothers alone in their homes, and the rest had some sort of physical injury or disability with the exception of Miranda, who was a paranoid schizophrenic.
  • Serial Rapist: Thomas Mathers goes through five women, the fifth one being murdered.
  • Talkative Loon: Ray-Ray is schizophrenic and speaks in longwinded rants that make no sense. The most coherent he gets is, "Hello? I can't find my head."
