After an assassination attempt on Roland Books, the controversial leader of the African American Congress, Briscoe and Curtis look into Huey Tate, the son of Roland Book's murdered predecessor Marcus Tate. Huey's friend Angela Roney (Michelle Hurd) has recorded a conversation where Huey admits he wants to kill Books. However, the prosecutor's case falls apart when they learn Angela was a paid information for the FBI. Huey's defense uses that to argue that he is the victim of a frame job by the FBI. It is eventually revealed that Angela was the shooter.
