A big secret’s out, and Wolf can’t deal. Meanwhile, Kipo must resist the urge to pet Mega Bunny babies before escaping from sticky Mod Frog Jamack.

Tropes:

  • Adopt the Food: Subverted. Wolf was raised by a pack of Mute wolves. She trains with them and, after a year, it appears that her adopted siblings and parents have accepted her as one of their own. However, it then turns out that she was just raised to be a final hunting test for the other pups. One of her adopted siblings hesitates to turn on her, truly considering her a sister, before relenting and saying that "we're wolves, you're a human".
  • Big Damn Heroes:
    • Kipo comes running to her friends' rescue armed with Wolf's stalky. Although Kipo doesn't manage to get them out of trouble, it is her willingness to put herself in harm's way for her friends that convinces Wolf to get over her rejection of Kipo's half-mute status.
    • Not long after, Jamack comes and helps them escape with a mega bunny.
  • Dark and Troubled Past: Wolf was raised by a pack of Mute wolves. She trained with them and after a year, it seemed her adopted siblings and parents were about to accept her as one of their own. But then it turns out she was just raised to be a final hunting test for the other pups. Only one of her adopted siblings hesitates to turn on her, truly considering her a sister, before relenting and saying that "we're wolves, you're a human".
  • Dramatic Chase Opening: The episode begins with a flashback where a younger Wolf is running all alone in a forest at night. She has a terrified look on her face as wolf mutes chase after her. The scene then transitions into her running away in the present from Benson.
  • Five-Second Foreshadowing: When Jamack tells the mute gangs he is going to take Kipo’s group for himself, all the mute gangs erupt in laughter. All EXCEPT the Newton Wolves, who can be seen sniffing out the scent of a Mega Bunny before realizing that Jamack placed Mega Bunny fur on them.
  • Flashback B-Plot: The B plot of the episode will sometimes switch into flashbacks of Wolf’s time with her mute family.
  • His Story Repeats Itself: More like her story repeats itself, but Wolf ends up reliving her past in the climax of the episode. When Good Billions and Bad Billions find Wolf and Benson, Wolf starts seeing her wolf parents in place of the Billions brothers as they corner her. This reflects how her fear of wolves is getting the best of her now, causing her to drop her weapon. However, when Kipo comes to Wolf’s rescue, Wolf sees Kipo in place of her wolf sister running to protect her. This is meant to cement how Kipo now fills in the role as Wolf’s true sister.
  • Hope Spot: In the final flashback of Wolf’s past, it looks like Wolf is going to be accepted as a part of her Wolf family. Until the Alpha Mom refers to her as prey....
  • Innocence Lost: Poor Wolf loses her innocence when her wolf family turns on her and hunts her down. Even the wolf pup closest to her is forced to attack. This traumatizing memory has turned Wolf into the cynical person she is in the present.
  • Mexican Standoff: The main characters are surrounded by the Newton Wolves, the Scooter Skunks, the Mod Frogs, and the Humming Bombers, with everyone willing to fight each other if it means capturing the humans first and thus getting the glory and rewards for doing so.
  • Pet the Dog: When Kipo despairs over the thought that her best friend might hate her for being "part-Mute", surprisingly Jamack comforts her and offers her the idea that perhaps Wolf is just afraid of change, which cheers Kipo up.
  • Reflective Eyes: When Jamack notices Kipo’s Mute eyes, his startled expression is reflected in her eyes.
  • Revealing Skill: Combined with Face-Revealing Turn. When they're navigating the sewers, Jamack realizes something is up with Kipo when she is able to see just as well as he can even though it's much too dark for a human to see. Then she turns and reveals her mute eyes.
  • Scary Shiny Glasses: Good Billions, Loretta the Scooter Skunk, and Easy the Humming Bomber all have their lenses shine when they come face-to-face with each other.
  • Summon Bigger Fish: Jamack (ripping a page from Kipo's book) uses some megabunny fur to lead the mega-mute to save the heroes from the other packs.
  • Take Me Instead: Kipo says this word-for-word when the Mutes are about to capture her friends. The Mutes reply that there's no "instead" involved and try to capture them all.
  • Title Drop: Jamack says the title of the episode when explaining to Kipo why her idealistic way of thinking won’t work in an environment like the surface world.
  • Troubled Backstory Flashback: The audience is finally treated to Wolf’s history with wolves in a few flashbacks shown throughout the episode.
  • Vertigo Effect: Happens when Jamack realizes the Mega Bunny mother is coming to her babies, which is also where he and Kipo are at.
  • What the Hell, Hero?: Benson spends much of the episode by calling out Wolf for abandoning Kipo, when she discovered the latter is part-Mute. He even points out the fact that Kipo forgave her, when Wolf hid a map that would lead to Kipo's father.
  • What the Hell Are You?: A non-villainous example. When Kipo reveals to a startled Jamack she is part-Mute, he asks her what kind of a freak she is.
