While travelling between worlds, Ventus spots the masked boy, so he pursues him until he reaches an unknown world known as the Badlands. The boy surprisingly brandishes a Keyblade of his own, so he and Ven have a duel. The boy knocks him down with ease and prepares to finish him off, but Mickey appears and saves Ven at the last moment before healing him. With Mickey's help, he is able to defeat the mysterious boy, but he vanishes into a corridor of darkness. Mickey and Ven introduces themselves to each other, and Mickey tells him that he's an apprentice of Yen Sid. He pulls out a "Star Shard," which can teleport him anywhere, but he says that he can't control it; the shard simply teleports him wherever he needs to go. Suddenly, the shard glows and transports them both away. Ven finds himself in front of a new world, so he goes to investigate...
Tropes:
- You Can't Thwart Stage One: The Masked Boy will always overpower Ven before Mickey appears, either if the Masked Boy depletes Ven's health to 0 or if Ven is able to inflict enough damage to the Masked Boy. Regardless, when Mickey joins the fight, the Masked Boy's health will be whatever Ven was able to get it to before said overpowering.
