Riku finds himself back in Traverse Town, where Joshua tells him that he summoned him there so he can help. He explains that they are struggling with a powerful Dream Eater that can summon other ones. Before Riku goes to help, Joshua explains to him that the two Traverse Towns are not parallel worlds like he originally thought. He figured this out after realizing that the two worlds have different flows of time. Figuring out that the two worlds are different led him to the conclusion that Traverse Town is actually a dream, which of course Riku already knew.
Riku goes to help Beat and Rhyme, who are fighting the powerful Dream Eater, known as the Spellican. Beat initially insists that he can handle it on his own, but Rhyme assures Riku that they need help. Beat and Rhyme begin to ignore the enemy as they argue, much to the Spellican's annoyance. It summons lots of Dream Eaters, which Beat and Rhyme fight while Riku chases it. The Spellican summons some more enemies for Riku to fight, but he manages to get through them. He corners the Spellican in the Third District, but it vanishes, heading to Sora's world. The Sleeping Keyhole appears, so Riku unlocks it. He bids farewell to his new friends and continues on his way...
Meanwhile, back in Disney Castle, Mickey, Donald, and Goofy confront Pete and Maleficent, who have kidnapped Minnie. Maleficent threatens to kill the Queen if Mickey doesn't give in to her demands, so he relents. Maleficent says that she wants to take Disney Castle for herself so she can return it to the way it was when she corrupted the Cornerstone of Light. Mickey knows that Maleficent must want the castle for an ulterior motive, so he asks her what her true goal is. She reveals to them that Xehanort was the one who told her about the existence of other worlds as well as the seven Princesses of Hearts. Since her original plan to use the princesses to conquer the worlds failed, now she wants to use the data that they got from Jiminy's journal. Maleficent prepares to attack Mickey and friends, but she is suddenly stopped by flaming chakrams. The chakrams cause Pete to stumble, giving Minnie a chance to attack him with light and escape. With their hostage freed, Maleficent and Pete decide to flee. Lea emerges from a corridor of darkness, much to Mickey's surprise. When he calls him Axel, Lea corrects him by telling them his true name. As they listen as he explains why he saved them, Sora and Riku continue their journey...
