To impress a girl, Bobby decides to get involved in activism.
- Attention Whore: Hank tries to tell Bobby that the only people who protest outside of a last resort are movie stars who need attention, such as George Clooney.
- Didn't Think This Through: Bobby walks out to force Moss to take down the tickers. He gets outside, and then realizes he didn't know what to do after.
- Karma Houdini: Perhaps unsurprisingly, Bobby's earlier efforts prove to be All for Nothing, as Moss and the teachers get their vacation. The closest thing that comes to retribution is that Carl hits a tree while parasailing.
- Laser-Guided Karma: Bobby gets straddled with cleanup duty at Strickland after the other students return back to school upon Hank talking them down from protesting.
- Never My Fault: Upon the advice of some loser kids, Bobby thinks soda is the reason he can't score a girlfriend.
- Noodle Incident: The Hills apparently had breakfast for dinner once, and it was so bad they mutually agreed to never do it again.
- Not-So-Well-Intentioned Extremist: Olivia is revealed to be this when she calls for burning City Hall as part of their protest just to send a message and then telling Bobby that Moss won't be able to put up news tickers if he's in the hospital. This gets Bobby to tell Olivia it's over.
- Soapbox Sadie:
- Bobby's new love interest Olivia is one, and Bobby, trying to get her attention, starts to take after her.
- Hank also views movie stars who have fallen on hard times as such, especially George Clooney.
- Teacher/Student Romance: Olivia's father's girlfriend is also his student, and he's her college professor.
- Surprisingly Realistic Outcome: The kids who follow Bobby in protesting by marching into town aren't organized or united, because Bobby didn't plan the protest effectively. Later, Hank is able to get them to go back to school by mentioning that because of the damage they caused, they can still be arrested.
- Unwitting Instigator of Doom:
- Some of the social rejects tell Bobby that soda is to blame for his inability to find a girlfriend, as they heard a report that it contains high fructose corn syrup, which causes obesity and bad skin.
