Recap / Kim Possible S 4 E 5 Car Alarm

Go To

Kim runs into the inconvenience of not having her own car, and the irritation of having Bonnie gloat about the fact that she does. Kim's dad hands down his old "Sloth", which needs a lot of fixing up.

Meanwhile, Motor Ed busts Shego out of prison to help with his latest plan, which involves stealing the super-fast "Kepler" rocket Kim's dad is working on. Kim has to find the rocket before it gets fired at full-thrust inside the atmosphere, leaving a disaster in its wake.

This episode provides examples of:

  • The Alleged Car: The Roth SL, or the "Sloth", at first. Ron's scooter is a two-wheeled version.
  • Big Red Button: Which turns out to activate the cruise control.
  • Cool Car: The Sloth, after the Tweebs work on it.
  • High-Speed Hijack: The climactic scene has Kim jumping onto the Kepler from her car to stop Motor Ed.
  • Hood Ornament Hottie: Shego eventually finds out that Motor Ed broke her out of prison so she could ride with him as an "accessory". She was not pleased.
  • How Is That Even Possible?: Ron gets tangled up in wires, complaining that he wasn't even helping work on the car — it just happened somehow. Also, after he gets attacked by a flock of crows for the third time, he cries out, "It's so random!"
  • Humongous Mecha: Motor Ed uses one to break Shego out of prison and to fight Kim.
  • It's Personal: After Motor Ed blows past the Sloth, the Tweebs take it personally, with an Eyedscreen view emphasizing their determination.
    Jim: Take us home.
Kim: Okay, that is it! I know I signed that stupid contract of yours, but right now, I have to stop Motor Ed!
Tim: Not in this, you're not.
    Kim: What?
Jim: We have to supercharge the engines!
Tim: Nobody blows our doors off!
    Kim: (smirks)
    Jim: This... is personal.
  • Noodle Incident: The Sloth was apparently subject to some sort of recall, as Ron notes; Wade brings it up later, but Ron says they're not talking about it.
  • Not Now, Kiddo: Ron spots the Kepler (which Motor Ed has tricked out into a racing vehicle) and tries to tell Kim. Kim ignores him, assuming he's just making yet another request for a food break, until she spots it herself.
  • Not the Fall That Kills You…: After being flung into the distance by Motor Ed's Humongous Mecha, Kim lands safely by deploying a tube of "hair gel" that expands into a landing cushion.
  • Not This One, That One: Kim's dad opens the garage to show Kim "your new car". She momentarily thinks that he's giving her his current car until he clarifies (using the trope name word for word) that he means the Sloth.
  • Omnicidal Maniac: Shego is shockingly bloodthirsty this episode, downright excited at the prospect of the entire world being shattered to pieces by a hypersonic blast.
  • Read the Fine Print: Kim gets the Tweebs to fix up the Sloth by signing a contract that obliges her to chauffeur them wherever they want to go. It also grants the Tweebs gloating and mocking privileges. Kim gets off the hook when Bonnie's car gets wrecked by the Kepler and the Tweebs get her to sign the same deal.
  • Take the Wheel: Kim tells Ron to take over driving while she disables the Kepler.
  • Tear Up the Contract: In the episode's credits scene, after finally becoming fed up with the Tweebs' demands as a result of becoming their new chauffeur in exchange for repairing her car, Bonnie does this to the contract she signed with the them before kicking them out and driving off. In retaliation though, they use their newly-constructed grappler beam to literally undo all of their repairs as she speeds away, leaving her stranded on the streets with nothing but her car seat and the steering wheel.
  • Thicker Than Water: Averted. Motor Ed makes no attempt to break Drakken (his cousin) out of prison, though he could have done so easily with his Humongous Mecha. Frugal Lucre tries to console Drakken by pointing out that he's been similarly disappointed by his mother's failure to show up and post bail.
  • With This Ring: Played with. Before Kim jumps onto the Kepler to disable its main engine, Wade pops a panel to reveal a pair of gold rings that look like an awful lot like wedding bands. Rufus starts humming the Wedding March while Ron gets flustered. Wade finally explains that they're actually "magno-rings" to help Kim hang on.
