Recap / Jackie Chan Adventures S 4 E 10 Deja Vu

Go To

Dalong Wong tries to use the Deja Vu stone to relive his past defeats and change their results to regain his powers and achieve victory.

This episode provides examples of:

  • Amusing Injuries: When Uncle adds garlic to speed up the portal magic, Jackie speeds through his memories too fast. First he goes through memories of Uncle saying, "One more thing!", then Jade saying "Duh! Tch!" and then Uncle hitting him with the two-finger strike.
  • Clip Show: Basically what this episode is thanks to the Deja Vu stone.
  • Falsely Reformed Villain: Uncle is in disbelief that Dalong Wong was released from jail for good behavior.
  • Fighting Down Memory Lane: Nearly each memory Jackie visits has him fighting an enemy, whether its the Dark Hand (including Tohru) or a demon sorcerer.
  • Funny Background Event: After Jackie returns to the present and greets Jade, the past versions of Jade and Uncle can still be seen through the portal. They look openly confused over where Jackie went.
  • Hope Spot: Upon first arriving in the past, Jackie is relieved to see Tohru. Then he is told to hand over a talisman, and he realizes this is pre-Heel–Face Turn Tohru.
  • Ironic Echo: When viewing the memory of when Jade was Queen of the Shadowkhan, she says she "couldn't help it" because she was possessed. Uncle admonishes her for getting a tattoo even after she was told not to, but immediately afterwards when they see the memory of Uncle being a chi-vampire, Uncle says in the same tone "Uncle could not help it" since he was a victim of the chi-vampire.
  • Laser-Guided Karma: Jackie and Dalong Wong are at the point where the Enforcers first went to the shop to try to get the shield. This time, Jackie simply says that Dalong Wong took it. Dalong Wong is quickly taken away to be interrogated by the past versions of those he spent all of Season 3 enslaving and abusing.
  • Timey-Wimey Ball: The Deja Vu Stone is capable of changing the past. Near the end after beating Dalong Wong once again, Jackie finds himself in a first encounter with Jade and attempts to call her parents to have her sent back home, potentially undoing everything they've done in the hopes of giving her (and himself) a normal life. He then remembers all of the good she did which helped him so far and decides against it, much to the present Jade's relief.
  • Whole Episode Flashback: The Deja Vu stone sends Jackie and Dalong into their memories.
