Recap / Jackie Chan Adventures S 2 E 3 Snake Hunt

Go To

While looking for the snake talisman in South America, another archaeologist makes retrieving it difficult for Jackie and Jade.

  • Attack of the 50-Foot Whatever: Senor Higanta, the guardian snake.
  • Are We Getting This?: Defied. TV archaeologist Wesley Rank encounters a gigantic snake but is more concerned with getting out alive and in possession of the snake talisman it's guarding. Rank's camera operator remains calm and shines the camera's spotlight into the snake's eyes to blind it.
Rank: Crikey, I didn't tell you to film that!
Dino Stefanson: Hello, I'm blinding it! Snakes don't have eyelids!
  • Book Ends: The beginning of the episode shows Jackie literally bumping into Tohru. When Rank leaves with the snake talisman he also literally bumps into Tohru.
  • Dirty Coward: Wesley Rank. When Jade throws down a vine, Rank climbs it first and then pulls it up. Jackie tells him to drop the vine. Rank demands the talisman in exchange. Jackie throws it to him and Rank simply leaves.
  • Dramatic Irony: This line from Jackie, which seems to give a nod to the fact this episode is out of order with "Enter the Viper".
Jade: Did you find the Snake talisman?
Jackie: No luck. You'd think it was invisible.
  • Foregone Conclusion: Since this episode is obviously a prequel to "Enter the Viper", it was obvious that Jackie wouldn't be getting the snake talisman in this episode.
  • From Bad to Worse: Jackie falls while wall climbing and grabs a vine...only its not a vine, its a snake. Jade then points out all the vines on the walls and ceiling are snakes.
  • Hypercompetent Sidekick: Dino Stefanson. He blinds the guardian snake with his camera's flashlight since he knows snakes don't have eyelids.
  • Karmic Butt-Monkey: Wesley Rank. After learning about the Snake Talisman, goes to great lengths to steal it from Jackie, then he starts to get what deserves in the form some humiliation, including his cameraman taking his place as host for his TV show.
  • Noble Top Enforcer: Wesley Rank's camera guy Dino Stefanson. When Jackie tells him to climb the vine, he points out the snake guardian doesn't want him since Jackie has the talisman, not him and later helps pull Jackie up. He ends up giving the world a glimpse of Rank's true colors showing him pushing Jade off camera.
  • Off-into-the-Distance Ending: Parodied. Rank tries to end his "Just the Artifacts" episode with the Snake Talisman by walking away from the camera...only to come running back screaming when he sees the giant snake guardian.
Dino Stefanson: Let me guess: edit that out?
  • Out of Order: This episode takes place before "Enter the Viper" in season 1.
  • Screams Like a Little Girl: Stefanson shows a clip of Jade calling Rank a liar and pounding his chest then scoots her off screen. Another clip shows him walking off only to run back screaming.
Dino Stefanson: Wesley Rank may not know how to treat little girls, but he sure knows how to scream like one.
  • Shout-Out: Tohru, covered in bats, briefly resembles Batman as drawn in Batman: The Animated Series.
  • Small Name, Big Ego: Well, not small name, but Wesley Rank is a TV archaeologist and brags about how difficulty awesome it was for him to obtain artifacts when he does no such thing.
  • Unwitting Instigator of Doom: Stefanson donates the snake talisman to a museum in New York.
