Recap / Jackie Chan Adventures S 2 E 32 The Chosen One

Go To

A trio of monks believe Tohru is their holy master. An evil wizard wants to use Tohru's supposed chosen one chi to further his own power.

Tropes:

  • Actual Pacifist: The monks don't fight — and when they believe Tohru is their master, they prohibit him from fighting as well.
  • Ambiguous Situation: Whether or not Jade is the Chosen One is never revealed outside that she was able to use his staff like a pro.
  • The Chosen Zero: In the end, Tohru is not the long-lost master the monks were looking for. It's implied that it's Jade.
  • Curb-Stomp Battle: Once Tohru realizes he is not the Chosen One and is therefore allowed to fight, he easily defeats the dark chi warriors almost single-handedly.
  • Dark Is Evil: Meet Daolon Wong, dark chi wizard and his warriors.
  • Everyone Has Standards: Even Jackie, who is normally very easy going, is easily annoyed by how rude and unsympathetic the monks are to him during their worship of Tohru.
  • Generic Doomsday Villain: Daolon Wong seeks to kill the Chosen One and has no real motivation beyond being a Card-Carrying Villain who wants to advance the cause of evil.
  • Never Say "Die": Uncle boasts that he studied under Chi Master Fong. Daolon Wong, in response, brags that he "defeated" Fong, the context meaning he killed Fong.
  • No Sympathy: The monks show no concern whatsoever to Jackie, Jade or Uncle when they go as far as steal their food as an offering to Tohru or their mattresses for him to sleep on. As far as they're concerned, as long as the Chosen One is alright, everything is alright.
  • Offscreen Teleportation: Tohru somehow manages to disappear despite his large size and being surrounded by a crowd of worshippers.
  • "Oh, Crap!" Smile: Tohru after being told the people he's about to beat up are actually monks.
  • Right for the Wrong Reasons: In the end, the monks believed they were at the right location but found the wrong person, and noticed Jade handling herself with the holy master's staff.
"Perhaps we should wait if she remembers the yak."
  • Shut Up, Kirk!: Uncle warns Daolon Wong that he studied under Chi Master Fong, to which the dark chi wizard boasts that he killed Fong. Uncle vows to make the dark wizard pay for that.
  • This Is Gonna Suck: Jackie when he asks the monks who is going to target their chosen one.
  • Takes One to Kill One: Daolon Wong attempts at first to have his Dark Chi Warriors assassinate Tohru, but when the dark chi wizard learns that Uncle is a good chi wizard, he decides to deal with him personally because "it will take a chi wizard to beat a chi wizard".
  • You Killed My Father: Daolon Wong brags about how he defeated Chi Master Fong, Uncle's magic teacher. Uncle doesn't take kindly to this.
