Recap / Jackie Chan Adventures S 2 E 15 Shanghai Moon

Go To

The Dark Hand board a rocket into space to open Tso Lan's portal.

  • Calling Your Attacks: Hak Foo continues to do this, but being out in space makes him much slower than he had anticipated. Jackie has a much better time of dodging, as a result.
  • Comically Missing the Point: Shendu offers to show Tso Lan the end of Jackie, their most hated and persistent opponent. Jackie is just by the nearest window, but all Tso Lan sees is the monkey, and he's incredulous this is what keeps causing Shendu so much trouble.
  • Contrived Coincidence: Jade discovers that Jackie is not at a conference in Minnesota due to appearing on a convenient news report on a space shuttle.
  • Everyone Has Standards: Hak Foo joins the others in voting to not enter the rocket while remaining stoic.
  • Even Evil Has Standards: The Dark Hand are horrified that Tso Lan wants to remove the moon from its orbit to alter Earth's landscape.
  • Genre Savvy: Knowing Jade wants to go with him on missions, he lies that he's going to a conference on Feng shui in Minnesota, and invites her to come. This has the desired effect as she declines the offer. Jade finds out about Jackie’s mission anyway when she sees him on a news report and uses the Rabbit Talisman to go to his location.
  • Gravity Master: Tso Lan's power, and it's even powerful to allow him to move the moon out of its orbit, potentially devastating the Earth's landscape.
  • Hostile Terraforming: When told removing the moon from orbit will cause all kinds of chaos for Earth's ecosystem, Tso Lan says he wants to reshape the planet's landscape to his preference. What happens to those living on the planet is of no concern to him.
  • It's What I Do: Jackie's response to Tso Lan angrily asking him why he continues to interfere.
  • Mass "Oh, Crap!": Ratso thinks a monkey being the pilot is cute. Valmont, Finn, Chow, and Hak Foo scream their heads off.
  • Nice Job Fixing It, Villain: Tso Lan boasts that the lotus will only work as part of the Chi spell, if Jackie takes off his helmet. Jackie won't do that, but he does get the idea to hold his breath and briefly rework his suit's breathing apparatus as a substitute.
  • Shoo Out the Clowns: The Dark Hand are ejected from the space station via the trash pod during the climax.
  • Space Episode: Fittingly for the Moon demon.
  • Space Is Slow Motion: While Jackie and Hak Foo are fighting in space, Hak Foo does his usual animal analogies only to learn that the lack of gravity has slowed them down and proceeds to use slow animals such as turtles and sloths.
  • Who Dares?: Tso Lan in response to Jackie interrupting him just as he's about to succeed.
