Go To

Charlie continues his quest to find his childhood pen pal and makes a shocking discovery that could change his relationship with Frank forever. Mac decides to join the priesthood. Dennis and Dee rent an Irish castle while Dennis continues to struggle with COVID symptoms.

Tropes:

  • Axe-Crazy: Due to having a high Covid fever, Dennis begins trying to kill Dee with an axe.
  • Closed Circle: There's no electricity in Dennis and Dee's rented castle, Dee's phone is dead, and their car is out of gas.
  • Continuity Nod: Frank mentions the time he pooped the bed.
  • Crush Filter: When Mac sees Thomas, the scene switches to slow motion, and Mac's eyes widen as he looks at Thomas.
  • Definitely Just a Cold: Dennis insists that his deathly coughs are because of a sheep's wool allergy, not a case of coronavirus.
  • Downer Ending: It seems Charlie is losing his bond with Frank, which leaves Frank all alone on a cot.
    Frank: Goodnight, Charlie.
  • Gaslighting: Dennis tries to convince Dee that she hasn't heard him plotting against her, despite their being in the same room.
  • Haunted Castle: The castle that Dennis and Dee rent looks quite ominous, with cobwebs and a surprisingly recent history of beheadings.
  • I Reject Your Reality: Despite all evidence, Dennis refuses to acknowledge he could possibly have Covid, mostly because he can't accept he could be sick.
  • Jaw Drop: Mac does this when he's introduced to Thomas, a gorgeous priest.
  • Not Distracted by the Sexy: Enforced by Mac, who refuses to be paired up with an attractive young priest as he knows it will end with Mac falling for him. He requests a less handsome priest to learn from instead.
  • Really Gets Around:
    • Bonnie Kelly has slept with several of the patrons in the establishment Charlie is at.
    • Mac admits to the priest that he's been "S'ing" and "F'ing" his way through life for a while now.
  • The Reveal: Charlie's real father is Shelley Kelly, who kept in touch with Charlie during his childhood and taught him Irish Gaelic.
  • Sanity Slippage: Dennis starts muttering to himself in a nonsensical and disturbing way, and claims that he's talking to the castle. He then proceeds to chase Dee through the corridors with an axe.
  • Screw This, I'm Out of Here!: In response to the below-mentioned troll moment, Dennis gets out of the realtor's office while coughing his guts out, calling Dee a "bitch" while doing so.
  • Shared Family Quirks: Shelley, like Charlie, really enjoys cheese, and his first appearance has him bashing a rat with a stick.
  • Shaking Her Hair Loose: Thomas, the young priest, takes his hair out of a ponytail in Mac's Crush Filter.
  • Troll: When Dennis is coughing too much to speak to a realtor, Dee takes the opportunity to speak for him and tell a bunch of lies about him in order to screw with him something fierce.
