Purson Soi Arc Summary

Chapter 147: Another Demon

Iruma heads off to school with Azz and Clara, which they're all wearing Detection Warding Glasses to look like unknown students due to their rise in popularity for their success in the Harvest Festival. This turned out to be the right choice as the show-boating Lied, Kamui, and Goemon can be seen getting themselves surrounded and overtaken by a crowd of students at the school entrance. Dragging the 3 show-boaters along, Iruma and company arrive back at Royal One where the Abnormal class is all set to take part in the first-year's final presentation: the Music Festival. Said festival is said to be a battle of sounds where students take part in chorus, band, and theatre against one another, and that the winner will be the one who puts on the best performance.

In order to keep the Royal One classroom for next year, the Abnormal Class reviews their current situation as they all need to be at Rank 4 (Daleth) by the end of the Music Festival. Iruma, Azz, and Lied are the Rank 4's while Clara, Sabro, Jazz, Schneider, Goemon, Kerori, Kamui and Picero are all Rank 3 (Gimmel). However, Elizabetta remains at the lowest as a Rank 2 (Bet), which Lied comes up with the solution that along with getting the Rank 3s to stand out, their main objective should be to make Elizabetta shine the brightest in order to get her a double rank-up. Iruma can't help shake the feeling that they're forgetting something as Kalego comes in annoyed by his class being so loud in the morning. Lied explains that they're having a meeting regarding the plan to make Elizabetta stand out, but Kalego questions his students what they're going to do about the "other one" which confuses all of them. He points them in the direction of a certain student currently sitting with them, which they're all surprised by the sight of a 13th Abnormal student they've never seen before.

Said student then disappears into thin air as if he was a ghost, but Iruma quickly realizes that it's Purson Soi, who he's seen at brief moments throughout the first year. Kalego assures them that Purson's been with them this entire time, which the Abnormal Class begins to catch on that they do sort of remember seeing Purson a few times. Jazz figures that they'll have to make him stand out along with Elizabetta given that Purson is also still at Rank 2 (Bet), but Kalego provides the bad news that doing such for Purson will be difficult. Kalego reveals to his class that Purson Soi is a student who, quite literally, can't stand out due to his Detection Warding bloodline magic making him unnoticable to others, which shocks everyone. Meanwhile, Purson is seen on his own reappearing at the classroom gate to exit Royal One.

Chapter 148: Purson Soi

During another day in Royal One, the Abnormal students all stand before Purson trying to communicate with him to co-star with Elizabetta in the Music Festival. However, he remains looking away from them as if he's uninterested, and begins to disappear each time they try to get him to talk. Clara tries to convince him to play loud music with her, but gets no reaction. Next, Sabro suggests a Demon King Action Musical similar to what his division performed during the Battler Party, but Sabro instantly takes the idea back after catching on that Purson would have to play the role of the Demon King to stand out rather than himself. Azz is the next to try, and gets ready to explain the importance of integrating with Iruma's greatness. However, Purson instantly starts to disappear before Azz could even begin talking, much to the latter's annoyance.

Lied is the next to speak suggesting a music band where Elizabetta and Purson stand out as the lead vocals, which Elizabetta is all for. For once, Purson turns to look at his class, which excites all the Abnormal students believing that they finally found something he's interested in. They continue to beg Purson for his help, but he ends up disappearing like usual, which begins to annoy the Abnormal students questioning if Purson's just playing with them. Their attention is brought to a stomping noise they hear outside the classroom, which they all take as a sign that Purson is running away. The Abnormal students all head out to chase after Purson; leaving Iruma alone within the Royal One classroom. He looks to the nearby pillar within the classroom, and asks if Purson's there, which causes Purson to appear again. Iruma is startled that his guess was right, but as Purson disappears again, Iruma assures him that he doesn't have to speak. That instead, Iruma will just talk.

Iruma apologizes for having not noticed Purson until now, and that they shouldn't have jumped and starting begging Purson to help with the Music Festival when they barely know him. He assures Purson that it's okay to not want to stand out if he doesn't want to, but that he learned recently that it's important to stick to what you want to do. Thus, Iruma states that it's okay to be a bit selfish and that he desires to know what Purson wants. As a result, Purson reappears, and finally begins to speak. Purson ends up breaking out into a long speech about his nervousness of possibly doing what he wants. That it's been causing him to panic and disappear whenever the Abnormal class is asking him to take part in the Music Festival, and that he needs time to process it all. In addition, Purson feels bad about it looking like he's playing with them, but hopes they understand how conflicting this whole situation is for him due to "standing out" going against the rules of his family. Hearing Purson speak, Iruma remains stunned silent that the seemingly silent Purson is actually someone who talks a lot.

Chapter 149: Pixie's Melody

Purson continues his long speech to Iruma going over how despite the Abnormal class wanting him to perform in the Music Festival, his family is super strict about not standing out. He claims that playing music is fine, but that he's staying quiet due to the pressure, and desires everyone to be gentle with him even though he's never talked with any of the misfits before. He further points out how Iruma is a light that has a shadow, and that Purson is someone who remains within the shadow and can't do anything due to how much Iruma and company dazzle in the light. Purson explains that he thought he was finally at a point where he was mentally ready to speak up, but in the end, he ended up falling back on being nervous in front of everyone and disappeared. With all that said, Purson says his goodbye, and disappears; leaving Iruma alone again.

The rest of the Abnormal class returns to Royal One unable to find Purson. Iruma reveals that he managed to talk to him, and that Purson's actually a super chatty person who claims that standing out is impossible for him. Jazz points out the issue that they can't do anything at the moment due to not knowing where Purson vanishes off to, which Lied, Kamui and Goemon all begin to cry in despair that this is the end of them having Royal One. Meanwhile, Iruma thinks over how Purson mentioned that he's "fine with playing music." Thus, Iruma concludes that Purson actually does have interest in taking part in the Music Festival. At that same time, the invisible Purson is seen leaving the Royal One classroom shocked at himself that he spoke a lot with Iruma knowing that it goes against his family's rules. As he walks, Purson remembers the family rule that they're demons who must never stand out.

Flashing back, Purson is at home standing before his invisible father, who explains that because of their Detection Warding bloodline, they must be lone wolves who remain unnoticeable, silent and hidden behind the scenes. Along with providing services for the underworld, such as creating the Detection Warding Glasses, Purson's father explains that their ability to hide from everyone is so powerful that misusing it could end up destabilizing the underworld. This is especially a problem due to Purson's elder brother vanishing somewhere, and hasn't been heard from since. Thus, making Purson the next up-and-coming head of the family. Going to his bedroom, Purson remains annoyed by the pressure of becoming the next family head, and chats to himself that he would rather do other things, such as get a girlfriend. Suddenly, his mother appears in his room, and reassures her son that he should keep his desire to chatter from his father. In return, Purson assures his mother that he's fine.

Returning to the present, Purson is seen having made his way up to the school roof with a large bag. He remembers his mother's words that he should use "this" whenever he feels the desire to let out his words, which he pulls out a trumpet from the bag. Purson begins to blow into the trumpet to play music from the school roof as everyone stops what they're doing to listen. All the students and teachers go about discussing how the "Pixie" that plays music for them has reappeared while the Abnormal students are searching for Purson around the school. Hearing the trumpet music, Lied mentions that he wishes they could perform together with the "Pixie" as it will be a sure win if said trumpet player was with them. Meanwhile, the "Pixie," Purson, continues to play his trumpet from the rooftop.

Chapter 150: Selfish

Among the teachers, Shichiro notices how the "Pixie" seems to be playing more passionate than usual, which the others figure is a sign that he's relieving stress. Shichiro asks Kalego if he's ever going to tell the Abnormal class about the "Pixie's" true identity, which Kalego answers that it's not his problem. That it's up to the students to learn about Purson as they all won't get far if they don't learn to take into account the skills and potential of those around them. Meanwhile, Purson continues to play his trumpet on the roof while thinking over how stressful it was for him that his teacher outed him, and that his fellow classmates are ganging up on him to play in the Music Festival. However, he remains conflicted as the thought of helping everyone in the Music Festival makes him happy, yet he has to continue following his clan's creed. After he finishes playing, an amazed Iruma can be seen peaking around the roof's door having witnessed Purson's music, which shocks Purson that someone found out about him.

Before Purson could disappear, the excited Iruma comes up to him praising how awesome he is. However, Purson breaks out into another long speech claiming that it's not what it looks like. That he's not actually practicing for the Music Festival, but is just doing it as a way to relieve stress. He asks Iruma to keep quiet about what he just saw, and is about to leave, but he ends up confused when Iruma grabs hold of him. Iruma once more apologizes. This time mentioning that he originally thought that it wasn't fair to force Purson to do something that the whole class was begging him to do. However, Iruma claims that this time around, he was really moved after witnessing Purson playing the trumpet just now. Thus, Iruma states that he's changed his mind. That it's a selfish request of his that he wants everyone to hear Purson's music, and that he deserves to be praised by everyone. The request stuns Purson as Iruma yells out asking him to perform with them in the Music Festival.

Purson remains stunned unable to say anything as he would have disappeared had Iruma just said "do it for us," or "It's only for the festival." However, the words that Purson "deserves to be praised by everyone" is enough to shake him as he thinks about performing in front of an audience all cheering him on. Purson finally gives his reply to Iruma that he's okay with it as long as he's just playing music, which confuses Purson that he actually said that out loud. Meanwhile, Iruma cheers out in excitement that he managed to convince Purson to play with them. The confused Purson remains lost in thought not knowing what to do between standing out in the Music Festival and following his family's rules. Realizing he's being influenced by such a selfish guy like Iruma, Purson finds it unbelievable that he's actually going through with this.

Chapter 151: The 13 Challengers

During the night, the Abnormal students all gather at the school's Flower Viewing Observatory, which they all discuss how rare it is for Iruma to call them together as a group. Suddenly, they begin to hear the "Pixie" playing his trumpet music, much to their confusion hearing the music at such a time. Iruma orders Azz to reveal the "Pixie" with his fire magic, and sure enough, Purson appears before them holding the trumpet. The reveal that Purson is the musical "Pixie" comes as a shock to everyone, which Iruma properly introduces him to the class. However, Purson continues to hide behind Iruma due to his nervousness; leaving Iruma to act as his spokesperson. In an attempt to befriend Purson, Lied claims that he will listen to what he has to say man-to-man. However, Purson ends up breaking out into a long speech calling out Lied for all his bad aspects, which ends up breaking Lied.

Purson next moves on to Schneider calling him out for being a womanizer, which comes as a surprise to everyone that Schneider knows how to interact with women. He next calls out Sabro for trespassing on school grounds during the night to sleep within Royal One, and calls out Azz for always taking pictures of Iruma and Clara. Purson even calls out Iruma for eating while class is going on. Jazz orders him to stop as he's scaring the girls, but Purson shocks Jazz by assuring them that he has no interest in messing with them as he respects the girls' privacy. In the end, all the men are left in despair due to Purson's criticisms, which Kerori admits that this proves that Purson's an Abnormal student just like them. Getting back to the subject at hand, everyone starts to get excited that Purson has the talent to help them in the Music Festival. However, Purson makes it clear that he will only participate under two conditions: that he has to provide the music while remaining out of the spotlight, and that they can't reveal that he's the musician.

Seeing the class remaining silent about the conditions, Purson remains worried that his words may have disappointed them, and his nervousness starts to kick in wanting to disappear again. However, it comes as a surprise to him when he sees the class all smiling and getting hyped up. Lied points out that it's obvious they would get excited taking on a challenge under such crazy conditions, which Purson instantly realizes that he forgot how the Abnormal class consists of a bunch of demons who laugh in the face of hardship. Offering out his hand, Jazz states that all the misfits standing together make nothing impossible. Iruma asks Purson to become Rank 4 (Daleth) with them; leaving Purson unable to reject. Suddenly, a teacher appears having heard the nighttime commotion going on in the Flower Viewing Observatory, which forces them all to start running. As he runs away with his classmates, Iruma excitedly announces to everyone that the 13 of them are going to wreck the Music Festival.
