The Introduction Arc is the 1st Story Arc of the Welcome to Demon School! Iruma-kun manga series.

The arc centers around Iruma's introduction and enrollment into Babyls Demon School after a demon, Sullivan, who desires a grandson, buys him off his parents, and brings him to the demon world. Despite not wanting to stand out, Iruma unintentionally makes the teacher, Kalego, his familiar, and befriends two noteworthy demon students in Alice (nicknamed Azz) and Clara.

The arc consists of chapters 1 to 4, and was adapted into episodes 1 to 3 of the 1st season of the anime.

Introduction Arc Summary

Chapter 1: Welcome to Demon School, Iruma-kun!

A human boy named Iruma Suzuki is brought to the demon world after his good-for-nothing parents sold him off to Sullivan; a powerful demon who desires to have a grandson. Sullivan then enrolls his human grandson as a student at Babyls Demon School, which Sullivan serves as the chairman for.

Iruma decides not to stand out being a human surrounded by dangerous demons, but he winds up in the spotlight during the school's opening ceremony due to Sullivan leaving him a note to say some demon words. The demon students are caught off guard hearing Iruma chant a powerful demon spell, but nothing happens due to Iruma's lack of magic power. Thus, leaving the students impressed believing that Iruma can say powerful spells without suffering any repercussions.

Due to having his role taken by Iruma as the ceremony's spokesperson, the #1 ranked freshman and noble demon, Alice Asmodeus, challenges Iruma to a duel. Azz shows off his exceptional bloodline fire magic, but Iruma's high evasiveness allows him to easily dodge all the attacks. Iruma then ends up surprisingly winning by performing an unintentional German-suplex upon the demon, which impresses Alice (nicknamed Azz) into becoming Iruma's loyal subordinate.

Chapter 2: Summoning a Familiar

The freshmen students take part in the "Summon Familiar" event to summon their own loyal animal familiars. Due to Iruma being a human that's capable of forming contracts with demons instead of familiars, Iruma shocks everyone by unintentionally turning the strict demon teacher, Kalego Naberius, into his familiar. Kalego is of course put off at the idea of being someone's familiar wanting the contract cancelled immediately, but due to a technicality where they could both die if the one-year contract isn't fulfilled, he's forced to go along with it for for the time being.

Chapter 3: Iruma and Clara

Iruma comes across an odd freshman demon, Clara Valac, who's a troublemaker that Iruma and Azz end up playing games with. Afterwards, Clara is left worrying that Iruma isn't going to play with her anymore believing that he will end up like the other demon students who only talk to her for the items she can make using her Summon bloodline ability. She proceeds to give him many items hoping that she won't lose him as a friend, but in the end, Iruma doesn't care as he just enjoys playing games with her. In the end, Clara becomes Iruma's second new friend alongside Azz.

Chapter 4: Demon Friends

Iruma spends the school day alongside his new friends Azz and Clara, such as learning about demon ranks, and that they make up the structure of the demon world, such as getting better cafeteria food depending on where one sits within the ranks. Along with meeting school shopkeeper, Camu Camu, Iruma runs into Kalego again, who once more refuses to ever take the role as Iruma's familiar. Escaping from the chaos that goes down around Camu Camu and Kalego, Iruma remains convinced that as long as he remains together with his new friends, such as Azz and Clara, his school life within the demon world shouldn't be so bad.
