Heartbreaker Promotion Exam Arc Summary

Chapter 223: The Fledgeling Demons Assemble

Iruma starts another day of school as a Rank 5 (He) second-year Babyls student. During the walk to school, he recaps to himself what's already happened at the start of his second-year so far, such as unintentionally renewing his familiar contract with Kalego for another year, making a weird stat sheet during the magic aptitude test, and not knowing why Shiida ordered him to stay quiet about them possibly knowing each other. He eventually meets up with Azz and Clara as they go about their daily routine for school. As they arrive at Babyls however, their attention is brought to all the new first-year students racing over to the bulletin board as their starting demon ranks based on the Flying Race event have been released. As they look over the list, Iruma notices a special frame above it that singles out a group of first-years as if they're more important than the rest. Suddenly, a first-year student holding a fan appears, which he points out to Iruma that the special frame is a list of the 26 chosen ones who stand out above the rest of the freshmen class.

To the excitement of many female students, the first-year holding the fan is named Zeze, who's a popular Modevil (model) that scored second on the entrance exam, and is considered so hot that he got first place in a beauty contest, and has appeared in many magazines. Zeze tries to show off as the center of attention, but he's quickly thrown aside by Chima's ice magic as she wants to speak to Iruma. Chima reveal to him that she won the Flying Race event, and achieved as high as Rank 3 (Gimmel) as her starting demon rank, which Iruma finds impressive. Appearing with Chima is Silvia, which she mentions that she also scored high as she was able to keep up with Chima during the race. Chima asks for Iruma to continue to take care of her as she's been selected as one of the 26 chosen ones, which catches Iruma's attention. However, their talk is suddenly interrupted by Zeze claiming that he won't have Chima stealing the show from him given their rivalry as the first and second ranked freshmen students.

Shortly after, Iruma is seen with Kalego and the rest of the Abnormal class within Royal One. Kalego provides the announcement that given how his misfit students are all already at Rank 4 (Daleth) or higher after just one year, the teachers have all decided to test the Abnormal class by having them take part in a special Rank Promotion Exam known as "The Heartbreaker." He explains that the opponents going up against the Abnormal class will be the Babyls teachers, and that each misfit will be given "treasures" that they will need to protect from the teachers at all costs. These treasures are revealed to be their underclassmen known as the 26 Demon Fledgelings, which an image is seen of Chima, Silvia, and Zeze standing with 23 other freshmen students. Iruma and his fellow misfits are all shocked by the announcement, which Kalego states that for the Heartbreaker Promotion Exam, the second-year Abnormal class is going to be teaming up with the chosen 26 first-years.

Chapter 224: Excited Demons

All the students at Babyls get hyped up after a school newspaper article is released detailing the Heartbreaker Promotion Exam that's about to go down between the students and teachers, which it will be broadcasted for everyone to watch. Within Royal One, Kalego explains to his Abnormal class that the overall goal of the exam is for the misfits to protect their juniors from their opponents, which are the exceptional teachers of Babyls. He warns them that the entire school's attention will be focused on them during said exam, and that anyone who underperforms will get demoted. Given that Iruma's the only misfit as high as Rank 5 (He), and is considered by many to be the leader of the misfits, Kalego warns Iruma that the latter will be judged more strictly since people are expecting a lot from him. Everyone just laughs it off believing that Kalego is still angry that he ended up as Iruma's familiar again, but Iruma remains lost in thought thinking about the Heartbreaker exam.

At home, Iruma remains upside down on his bed clearly showing worry over the upcoming exam. Ali pops up asking what Iruma's doing, which Iruma explains that he thought changing his point of view, such as lying upside down, would help him focus on the exam. Iruma states to Ali that up until now, he's always had a clear goal working towards in exams, such as ranking up, or keeping Royal One, yet he doesn't feel satisfied with just moving up to Rank 6 (Vav). The reason being that this is his first exam as a second-year, and wants to have a reason to do his best to live up to everyone's expectations. In return, Ali states that Iruma should just follow his desire, which confuses Iruma. Ali reminds Iruma that the latter's already screamed out his desire during the time that he made the black bow, which Iruma remembers the embarrassing moment where he yelled out that he wants to be a hero. Ali explains how perfect this exam is for such an ideal where he will have to be protecting his juniors that are asking for help, and in return, he will be defending them against such formidable opponents that such a sight will be burned into everyone's memories.

Hearing Ali's words, Iruma envisions himself with his black bow protecting Chima and Silvia from a powerful demon. Thinking it over, Iruma gives off a big smile having accepted that this is the perfect opportunity to show himself off as a hero. As Iruma stands ready getting himself dressed for school, Ali thinks to himself how he's caught on that Iruma's become someone who's grown fond of the idea of standing out. At school, the rosters for the Heartbreaker Promotion Exam are released showing each of the two first-years that the misfits have been paired off with. Amongst the chosen first-years met so far, Chima gets paired up with Iruma, much to her excitement, and Azz ended up getting Silvia and Zeze. As the rest of Babyls' students are prohibited from entering the school until said exam is over, the 39 demons consisting of 13 misfits and 26 first-years are ready to start the Heartbreaker Rank Promotion Exam against their teachers.

Chapter 225: Starting Off With a Pop

The Babyls students are all shown a promotional video highlighting the main theme of the Heartbreaker Promotion Exam. The teachers dressed up as evil demons go about causing chaos, but as one's about to attack a young girl, Iruma comes to her defense. Suddenly, the rest of the Abnormal class appears, which the 13 misfits all strike a pose while claiming that they're the Demons of Justice that will defeat the monsters and protect demonkind. Following the video, Baraki of the Broadcast division serves as the spokesperson, and goes about explaining the rules of the exam. That each of the 26 first-years will have a heart-shaped balloon strapped around their waist, and if the teachers manage to pop both of a misfit team's balloons, then that misfit is eliminated from the exam. Ameri is seen sitting with Baraki, which he asks for her opinion. In return, Ameri explains that the bar's been set high as not only is it a goal in the exam to protect oneself, but also the need to protect other demons. Baraki next asks if there's any first-years that's caught Ameri's attention, which student council member, Smoke, points out that the top scorer, Chima, stands out, much to Ameri's irritation.

Pushing the conversation, Baraki asks if this means that Chima's being scouted for the student council, which Smoke answers that it's still possible that Chima might join another Battler division. Given her crush on Iruma, and the thought of Chima joining his Magic Tools Research division to get closer to him, Ameri yells out that she refuses to let that happen. Thus, leaving everyone surprised believing that Ameri is attempting to recruit Chima to the student council. At this point, the Heartbreaker Promotion Exam is about to begin as the 13 misfits with their 26 first-years take their starting positions. Iruma's seen holding hands with Chima and his other first-year, much to Ameri's shock. He asks Chima why they're doing this. Given that she wants to be close to Iruma, she lies that the need to hold hands is part of the rules, which despite still being confused, Iruma goes along with it. At that same time, the other misfit teams are seen at their starting positions interacting with one another, and set to begin the exam.

Amongst the misfits, Lied stands with his two first-years trying to come up with a plan. The two first-years end up sparkling in amazement as it turns out that they're both fanboys of Lied given what the latter achieved in the Harvest Festival by becoming the Young King alongside Iruma. Knowing that he has to live up to his juniors' expectations, Lied acts out his role as the Young King, and asks them to leave everything to him. Baraki then rings the bell, which signals the start of the Heartbreaker Promotion Exam. The teachers in their evil demon disguises set out to search for the misfit squads in order to pop their balloons. However, before Lied's team could even begin to act, their shocked to find that one of their balloons has already been popped by a quick strike. Said strike turns out to have been an arrow fired from teacher Robin, who's excited to see that his first misfit is his student. In return, Lied and his first-years are left shocked by the situation they're already in.

Chapter 226: For Our Precious Students' Sake

Lied and his two first-years remain stunned in shock unable to understand what just happened as teacher Robin prepares to fire at them again. Using his tail to pull their remaining balloon away from being hit by the incoming arrow, Lied gives the order for his group to run away. As they run, Lied uses his Controller bloodline to take away Robin's eyesight. With his eyesight gone, Robin puts his hand on the floor to feel for the movements of Lied's team. He manages to sense their location, and fires off another arrow that just barely misses the balloon, much to the shock of Lied's group. Seeing that his shot missed, Robin decides to fall back on using his Bullseye bloodline to fire his always accurate arrow, but is stopped at the last second by teacher Oswell, which allows for Lied's team to get away. Oswell reminds Robin that since the Bullseye ability is limited to just one arrow a day, it's still way too early into the exam to use their special abilities, and should be saved for the final act.

The story flashes back to the teachers holding a meeting regarding how they should go about testing the Abnormal class for their opening Rank Promotion Exam. They agree that since the misfits are all already as high as Rank 4 (Daleth), and have already achieved many noteworthy accomplishments, they need a special test away from the other second-years. One of the teachers notes that this has left the Abnormal class with a cocky attitude, which they all agree with. They also bring up the odd rumors that are circulating around the misfits, such as Iruma having a harem, Azz burning down classrooms, and Jazz using his familiar to extort money.

Overall, teacher Dali announces that the cocky attitude of the Abnormal class is indeed a growing problem, and that they must do their jobs as teachers to raise them as honorable demons by guiding them down the proper path. The teachers all get hyped up as they start to discuss the ideas that will become the Heartbreaker Promotion Exam. Dali tells his fellow teachers that they're going to hand the victory-drunk heroes of the Abnormal class a crushing defeat, which in the present, the teachers are seen dressed up as the "villains." After Lied's group managed to escape from Robin, the focus switches over to Clara's team, which her group ended up running into teacher Suzy in the school courtyard.

Chapter 227: Team Valac

Flashing back a bit, Fuwatoro Strow is introduced as one of 26 chosen first-years that got paired up with Clara for the Heartbreaker Promotion Exam. Fuwatoro's bloodline ability is Bloom, which allows her to sprout flowers anywhere she wants, and she achieved Rank 2 (Bet) as her starting demon rank. She remains excited to give it her all as she goes about greeting and happily getting along with her upperclassman, Clara, believing that they will be a good team. However, the tall scary looking male chosen first-year of their group, Yabashi Marbas, ends up freaking out Fuwatoro. Clara goes about being friendly to Yabashi making it clear that she will protect him, which Fuwatoro joins in with Clara's "Devi-Devi" cheer towards him. Yabashi just gives off an irritated okay, and makes Clara and Fuwatoro scared of him. Despite not being able to get along with her first-year teammate, Fuwatoro remains confident remembering the rules that she just has to showcase her abilities in front of the upperclassmen and teachers. Fuwatoro continues to get along with Clara claiming that she will do her best to protect their balloons.

Returning to the present, teacher Suzy stands before Clara's team. Clara remains excited to see that she's up against a kind teacher only for Fuwatoro to become incredibly frightened, and warns their group to run away as they're up against the "Mother of Plants." Suzy catches on that Fuwatoro is probably one of her distant relatives given their powers are both related to plants. Claiming that she will show no mercy, Suzy pulls out a flute-like weapon, and upon playing it, summons out two large plants known as Gatling Daffodils that have gatling guns as flower heads. Clara quickly uses her Summon ability to create a vending machine for defense to block the Gatling Daffodils' fast bullet seeds from hitting them. Suzy then summons out another large plant known as a Thorned Star Lily, which fires large spikes to try to hit Clara's group. In return, Clara summons out more vending machines to increase the defensive wall.

As Clara's team hides behind the vending machine wall, Clara and Fuwatoro begin to freak out not knowing what to do. However, Yabashi interrupts reminding them that they need to calm down, and states that there's nothing to fear since Suzy isn't trying to kill them, but is just aiming for their balloons. He figures that their best option is to wait and think up a strategy as a team, which leaves Clara and Fuwatoro silent unable to believe what they're witnessing. Yabashi then awkwardly goes along with the "Devi-Devi" chant that his teammates did earlier much to the happiness of Clara and Fuwatoro that he's actually a softy on the inside. Standing up and ready to act, Yabashi claims that they should do what they can, and do it while not getting hurt.

Chapter 228: What My Ability's For

A brief flashback is seen of Clara being educated by Azz as he goes through a list of what Clara needs to act like a proper upperclassman to her juniors, which she accepts all of it. In the present, Clara continues to hide behind her vending machine wall with Fuwatoro and Yabashi as they try to come up with a plan to deal with teacher Suzy and her 3 large summoned plants. Fuwatoro and Yabashi remain lost as to what to do as Clara continues to create items to try to calm herself down. Seeing her juniors looking to her for help and asking for a battle plan, Clara begins to sweat not knowing what to do. She ends up thinking back to one of the times she spent having fun with Azz and Iruma by dumping stuffed toys on them, which Azz ends up scolding her for once again creating things with her ability without actually thinking things through. However, Iruma just praises Clara for how amazing her ability is, and points out that it's Clara's speciality since she's a fun-time genius who only uses her ability for fun.

Returning to the present, Clara gives off a big smile upon remembering Iruma claiming that her speciality is to be the fun-time genius that uses her ability to have fun, and puts together a plan with Fuwatoro and Yabashi. Shortly after, Suzy is left shocked to see dozens of heart balloons created by Clara rising from behind the vending machine wall, which Clara taunts that she won't be able to find the real one. In return, Suzy orders her Gatling Daffodils to fire. Some balloons manage to avoid the bullet seeds by shaking back and forth as they're attached to Dancing Daisies created from Fuwatoro's Bloom ability. This provides Clara enough time to sneak into the Gatling Daffodil flower head before it's able to reload for its next batch of bullet seeds. A brief flashback is seen during the planning phase for Clara's group where Clara mentions the idea of sneaking up on Suzy. In return, Yabashi shows off the bloodline magic of his Marbas family, Perfect Understanding, which allows him to see the structure of all things.

Yabashi looks towards Suzy's Gatling Daffodil using Perfect Understanding, and is able to see the inner weakness that its flower has to eventually retract into the plant to reload for more bullet seeds. While Suzy remains distracted trying to pop all the balloons, Yabashi throws Clara to one of the Gatling Daffodils the moment it tries to retract. Currently, Clara is now face-to-face with Suzy. Clara pulls out a large salt shaker that she created with her Summon ability, and shakes salt down upon Suzy. The salt causes Suzy to sneeze so much to the point of not being able to play the flute that controls her plants, which provides Clara's group an opening to escape with both their balloons still intact. However, Fuwatoro suddenly pops her balloon herself using one of the thorns from Suzy's Thorned Star Lily, much to their confusion. Fuwatoro is shown to be wrapped up in threads puppeteering her against her will, which Suzy catches up to them revealing that she used a rare species called Puppet Grass on them. Suzy then claims that she will make them pay for ruining her make-up, much to the fear of Clara's group. Elsewhere, Iruma's team is surprised to hear a popping noise in the distance.

Chapter 229: No Fight If I'm Just Kicking Ass

Iruma's group note how surprising it is that they can hear balloons from the other teams already popping when the Heartbreaker Promotion Exam has just started. Chima races to stay close to Iruma claiming that they must reinforce their defenses, but the second first-year of their group, Garson Vine, decides to nervously hide in a corner wanting nothing to do with them. Iruma apologizes believing that he's invading Garson's personal space, and happily states that he's here to help. However, Garson just finds such a claim scary, much to Iruma's confusion as to why Garson's afraid of him. Garson goes about explaining that there's rumors amongst the freshmen of how Iruma has made so many people interested in him. So much so that Iruma's been given nicknames, such as "Top-Score Killer" and "Demon Swooner Iruma," for having developed a harem.

The shocked Iruma tries to deny it, but that doesn't stop the nervous Garson from yelling out that he will never join Iruma's harem. Suddenly, Iruma's group hears footsteps nearby, which Iruma's group proceed to hide in the next room. The footsteps are revealed to be Shiida walking down the hallway, which Iruma figures that their best option at the moment is to just keep an eye out as it's still a mystery as to what Shiida's ability is. A flashback is seen where teacher March is seen asking Atori about Shiida's ability. In return, Atori mentions that he's never actually won an argument with Shiida, which confuses March. Atori expains it further that whenever they argue, she just overpowers him with one sentence. That she will kick him. In the present, Shiida proceeds to blast open the wall of the room that Iruma's group is hiding in with her kick.

Iruma manages to stop her advance blocking her feet with his black bow, but she criticizes Iruma's slow bow drawing speed, and kicks the bow away. Shiida then quickly catches Chima off-guard, and holds her tight threatening to eat her "heart." However, Shiida resumes her roll as the teacher and backs away ready to give Iruma's group another chance; leaving Chima's balloon intact. Chima remains stunned in fear realizing that she wasn't able to do anything, but is quickly brought back to reality seeing Iruma alongside her ready to fight. Iruma prepares four feathers to fire four arrows at once from his black bow. He yells out to Shiida that she won't be able to stop him this time, which Shiida stands ready for a fight.

Chapter 230: Still Immature

As Shiida charges towards Iruma, she remembers back to the moment where teacher Dali reminds his fellow teachers of the Babyls guidelines that they must follow. That they must always prioritize their students' growth, and that while they're allowed to beat them to a pulp, the students must not get seriously injured. As all the teachers accept the order, Shiida realizes that she's going to have a hard time. In the present, Shiida reminds herself that her current objective is to help the students grow, and decides that she will judge Iruma's abilities. She attempts to kick Iruma only for him dodge it, which he then proceeds to fire his four arrows at once. However, Shiida easily dodges them while judging that Iruma's strength is passable, but his aim is lacking.

Iruma quickly prepares another four arrows at once, which surprises Shiida seeing that Iruma accepted her earlier advice about his slow draw speed. As Iruma continues to fire arrows at her, Shiida notices the oddity that he's firing them strategically to not directly hit her. Eventually, Iruma's able to land up to five arrows across Shiida's clothing that leaves her body pinned against the wall. With Shiida successfully pinned against the wall, Iruma cast his Fractal spell to increase the weight of the arrows so that Shiida can't break herself bree. However, Shiida proves herself too strong using her bodily strength to rip herself out of her pinned clothing, and charges towards the shocked Iruma. Grabbing hold of Iruma's bow before he could fire again, Shiida criticizes Iruma once more by calling out his inability to aim directly at his enemy.

Shiida explains that while Iruma is showing good form and speed using the bow, he's stuck in a mindset where he doesn't actually want to hit his target, and would rather take the coward approach of trying to subdue the target without hurting them. Thus, Shiida calls out Iruma as someone who's afraid of shooting others, and should learn how to hurt enemies while fighting. Overall, Shiida's left wondering if she did her teaching job well only to be confused when she sees Iruma suddenly blushing towards him. It turns out that Iruma's embarrassed by Shiida having almost no clothing left on her, which the blushing Shiida calls him a perv. As Iruma tries to defend his actions in front of Shiida, Garson and Chima are seen watching them nearby. Garson isn't surprised by Iruma's harem-antics, and suggests that they should think about running away. However, Chima becomes angry and jealous by what she's seeing between Iruma and Shiida, and is ready to fight.

Chapter 231: Battle for the Best Spot

Chima imagines herself being princess carried and protected by Iruma only for that to come crashing down after seeing Iruma getting along with Shiida. Garson sees Iruma's harem antics as a chance to escape only for an enraged Chima to cast out her ice-magic to split up Shiida from Iruma. Chima acts like her actions were to break Iruma out of Shiida's charm spell, and asks for him to step back as she needs to have a woman-to-woman discussion with Shiida. After giving Iruma a quick hug, Chima stands ready to fight Shiida, who remains confused about the discussion claim. Chima goes over the list of romantic moments she's had with Iruma so far, and claims that what they did was way pervier. Thus, making her the winner. Shiida remains confused as to what she's talking about, which Chima claims that she's not afraid anymore as her jealousy has overtaken her other emotions to be hotter and fiercer. Chima casts out her ice-magic again attempting to encase Shiida in a ice-prison, but the latter easily kicks her way out.

As Chima attempts to hit Shiida with an icy spike-plate, Shiida praises the former's ability to have the resolve to try to hit the enemy. However, Shiida criticizes Chima for being too young to take her on one-one-one. Shiida easily jumps over the spike-plate, and uses her foot to pop Chima's balloon, much to the latter's shock. Iruma suddenly grabs hold of Chima as it's time to escape. Chima tries to apologize for her actions as it resulted in her exam balloon getting popped, but Iruma just shows his appreciation by thanking her as fighting Shiida bought their team some time; causing her to blush. Garson is heard calling for them to hurry up as it turns out that he used his Poison Fang bloodline magic to make a hole in the floor for them to escape.

Using the tusks that grow from his back, Garson can secrete many kinds of poison, such as one that dissolves the school floor they're standing on. Garson can also create the antidote needed for his poisons, which he quickly makes it, and drenches Iruma and Chima with the antidote as they will need to be immune to his poisonous escape tunnel. Seeing Iruma's group trying to escape, Shiida breaks a shard off of one of Chima's leftover ice spikes, and throws it at Garson's balloon. Iruma manages to shove Garson out of the way, and the group makes their escape jumping down into Garson's poison tunnel. Garson fears that he's falling for Iruma's harem antics as he's currently being princess carried by Iruma while the enraged Chima holds onto Iruma's back wanting to be in Garson's position. Meanwhile, Shiida just watches from the escape hole since she can't follow due to the poison, and just gives them a clap for a job well done.

Chapter 232: We're in Your Care

Broadcaster Baraki provides the watching students a recap of what's gone down so far in the 66-minute Heartbreaker Promotion Exam. He explains how Lied's group quickly lost one of their balloons to teacher Robin the moment the exam started, but managed to get away. He then goes over how Clara's group successfully put a plan together to try to escape teacher Suzy only for them to lose a balloon because Fuwatoro popped her own due to Suzy's puppeteering, and has currently left them in a bind. Finally, Iruma's group held off Shiida long enough to escape through Garson's poison tunnel, but Chima ended up losing her balloon. Baraki notes how Iruma's group had a flirty atmosphere going on, which freaks him out when he realizes that Ameri sitting next to him is giving off enormous pressure; enraged at the sight of Iruma flirting with other women. As the focus returns to the exam, Baraki states how exciting it will be to see everyone else's strategies against the teachers. At that same time, Purson is seen using his invisibility to hide.

Hearing Baraki talk about strategy, Purson thinks to himself that he doesn't really have one other than to try to not encounter any teachers as he doesn't have high enough attack and defense to take them head on. Purson thinks that the other misfits must be thinking the same thing, which turns out to be the case for some teams. Schneider's team is seen hiding in a tree, Picero is seen having used his magic to hide in a cave deep underground, and Goemon's team is also seen hiding in the school. Purson assures himself that his only option is to hide, but upon seeing the two massive first-years (a monster and a tall guy) that he's been given for the exam, he loses all confidence, and blames Kalego for doing this on purpose. As Purson's nervousness starts to kick in, he quickly snaps himself out of it knowing that he has to take the exam seriously. Knowing of his reputation as a hiding pro, Purson uses whatever tools he can find to try to make disguises for his two massive first-years, but the shoddy disguises causes him to lose confidence again. As his old persona of wanting to do the exam alone is about to kick in, Purson realizes that such an idea is wrong.

Purson chooses instead to apologize to his first-years for his failure. He explains how he's unable to hide them with his invisibility, and that he doesn't have good attack or defense to protect them from the teachers. In return, the tall first-year mentions how the two of them watched Purson on television win the Music Festival, and that they know that Purson is someone who knows how to use one's ability to make others shine. Thus, the two first-years are just happy to be on Purson's team, and ask that Purson just do whatever he wants, which the monster first-year appears to agree with. Amazed at how the first-years he was given are actually good kids, Purson gets serious wanting to keep them safe and hidden, which his invisibility magic gets larger and starts to cover all of them. As the two first-years watch Purson's Detection Warding magic surround them, Purson claims that it's in the misfits' nature to beat all odds. With 53 minutes remaining in the exam, an announcement is made that more teachers will be starting the hunt. Five new teachers, one of them being Atori, enter the exam.

Chapter 233: Hide and Seek

Sabro is seen getting hyped up after hearing the announcement that five more teachers are joining the Heartbreaker Promotion Exam. The first-years of his team are made up of two little students; a girl who gets scared easily, and a fishman who just goes seems spaced out and goes with the flow. Sabro desires to have a fight with the teachers, but the little girl first-year desperately tries to get him to stop. Given that he aims to be a Demon King who will never hide, Sabro orders his teammates to hold on. The two first-years grab hold of his arm as Sabro starts running to wherever. At that same time, Goemon is seen having a rough time due to his two hot-headed male first-years not getting along while they remain in their hiding spot. One wanting to go out and fight the teachers while the other believes the better option is to continue hiding. They look to Goemon for his opinion on the matter only for him to remain scared not knowing how to make them get along.

Meanwhile, Azz is with his first-years, Zeze and Silvia. Zeze goes about posing in front of the broadcast camera as if he's doing magazine shoots, much to Azz's confusion. Meanwhile, Silvia's doing some quick exercises to warm-up after hearing about the new teachers that have joined the exam. Silvia asks that Azz and Zeze use her however they want, but they both reject, which causes her to blush thinking that they're doing it to protect her. Overall, Azz figures they need to take precautions as it's still a mystery as to what the teachers' plan is. At that same time, teacher Blushenko is seen holding a meeting with some of the teachers. He makes it clear that everyone is allowed to do their own thing as long as they all remain in contact. Teacher March also reminds everyone of the rules for teachers to stay on their patrol routes, and to not enter fights between teachers and students that are already going on. Psychiatry teacher Murmur Tsumuru desires to test out the psychological magic of Team Elizabetta while tactics teacher Ipos Ichou wants to test the intellect of Team Schneider. Meanwhile, Atori is just interested in taking on someone who will fight back hard against him.

Iops figures that the best students for Atori would be Azz or Purson. The former because of his fire-magic, and the latter being someone who no one can find due to his invisibility. However, he questions if Purson will be able to handle the two large first-years he was given. As Blushenko provides his final words to hype up the teachers, the invisible Purson can be seen behind said teacher holding back his two large first-years against the wall within his Detection Warding ability. Purson sweats in exhaustion having just learned the moment the teachers arrived at his location that by adjusting his mana to expand his magic to his surroundings, he can apply his Detection Warding invisibility to others. Thus, he's currently keeping his two first-years invisible along with him while the teachers' meeting is going on right near them. Knowing that the invisibility will fail the moment his focus collapses, Purson tries desperately to think back to a certain time related to his ability. Flashing back to when he was back at home, a young Purson senses his brother behind him and calls him out. His older brother drops his invisibility other than his head, and laughs it off that Purson was able to find him.

Chapter 234: One With the World

After the young Purson finds his older brother, their father enters the room looking for Purton, which is the older brother's name. Purton remains completely invisible other than Purson being able to see him, but as Purson tries to tell his father that his older brother's here with him, Purton quiets his younger brother by putting his hand over Purson's mouth. Purton tells his younger brother a secret to how their ability works where he must slowly blend into the air around him as if its ice cream melting on the ground, and that once he blocks out all sounds, he will be One-With-The-World. Purson does just that and he ends up becoming completely invisible and transparent to a point that not even his father can see him anymore. As their mother enters not knowing where Purson is, Purson ends up crying as he wants to be with his mother, which breaks the invisibility. Their father calls out to Purton knowing that this was his doing, and scolds him for not reporting after returning from his mission, which Purton appears, and apologizes to not just his father, but Purson as well. However, Purton tells Purson that while the latter is still to young, this lesson will help him one day.

Returning to the present, Purson thinks over how that was the only time he ever interacted with his older brother as Purton vanished without a trace afterwards. In addition, Purson doesn't even know what Purton looks like as his older brother kept his face invisible the whole time. Trying to remain focused to keep his two first-years invisible with him, Purson thinks over how he has to remember back to what he did when Purton taught him how to become One-With-The-World. As Purson continues to think about it, the teachers walk right by the spot that Team Purson is remaining invisible. This causes the monster first-year of Purson's group to try to avoid being bumped, but he ends up knocking a candle off the wall. As the candle's about to fall and give away their position, the tall first-year of Purson's group, who turns out to be named Seir Sepata, uses his Flexibility bloodline magic to extend his right arm, and reaches over to grab the candle before the teachers notice that something's off.

The two first-years then watch Purson work his Detection Warding magic, having remembered exactly what Purton taught him, and casts one-with-the-world on all three of them. Seir and the monster first-year see that Purson's no longer holding onto them. Thanks to having One-With-The-World active, Purson can keep who he chooses completely invisible without needing to touch them. He also makes them transparent as the monster first-year sees his hand go completely through the candle that he almost knocked over. Overall, Seir and the monster first-year both agree that Purson's proven himself to be amazing. The teachers leave their location, which Purson wonders if he did a good job keeping them safe. In return, he sees his two first-years blushing in amazement, which causes Purson to smile back. Suddenly, Atori appears behind Purson, which shows that he knew about them being here invisible this whole time. Atori quickly grabs hold of their exam balloons and pops them, much to the shock of Team Purson.

Chapter 235: Eliminated

The teachers return to Purson's location surprised that Atori was able to sniff the invisible team out. Atori explains that it's because he knows someone who's really good at magic similar to Purson's. Teacher Murmur ends up scolding Atori for popping both balloons at once rather than saving one for later, which Atori apologizes for. Before leaving, Atori praises Purson for pulling off a strong technique like One-With-The-World at such a young age. Murmur advises Team Purson to head for the drop-out tent since they've been eliminated, but as Seir and the monster first-year look to Purson, they're confused as to why their senior's head remains invisible believing that he's in shock. Purson tries to claim that he's okay, but it becomes clear that he's upset; breaking out into a long speech over how despite being overjoyed that he learned a cool new move from thinking back to a past memory, he still couldn't hide them as Atori easily discovered them anyway. Purson apologizes for his failure, and tears can be seen falling from his invisible head. At this point, the monster first-year of his team walks up to him.

The monster first-year, who turns out to be named Nix Nikomaru, moves the two tendrals hanging from his head, and places the ends on where Purson's face would be. The tendril ends glow, which turns out to be Nix's Harmony bloodline magic. Nix's Harmony magic allows the user to show one's thoughts and feelings to other demons, which after Purson receives them through the tendrils touching his head, he realizes that Nix is feeling grateful and joy regarding what he just experienced with Purson, which cheers the latter up. In return, Nix smiles back, which Seir adds in that he's glad that they were a team, and that Purson was cool. With 50 minutes remaining in the Heartbreaker Promotion Exam, the announcement is made that a team's been eliminated. Team Lied hears this, which his first-years remain worried that they will be next given that they're already down one balloon. However, Lied gets serious due to being angry over his master, Robin, going easy on him. He hypes up his first-years that the teachers are underestimating them, which they prepare gear and weapons in order to take the battle to the teachers.

Team Lied appears out of the room they were hiding in ready for battle only for their remaining balloon to get instantly popped by a dart thrown by teacher Oswell, much to their shock. Oswell explains that his Luck magic kicked in after randomly throwing a dart, which he taunts Lied that this is revenge for his earlier defeat when they played a game over the Royal One classroom. In return, Lied and his first-years get pissed at Oswell due to the teachers not going easy on them. In the end, Team Lied is the second team to be eliminated. At that same time, Team Clara are shown to be the third team eliminated having already lost their second balloon to Suzy, and are currently being carried to the drop-out tent by a Gatling Daffodil. Clara and Fuwatoro try to take the blame for their team's failure, but Yabashi cheers them up claiming that despite their loss, they put up a good fight against a teacher. Meanwhile, Dali is seen with Kalego going over how three teams have already lost just 16 minutes into the exam. He asks Kalego if the latter's being a bit too harsh speedrunning the eliminations, but Kalego replies back that he hasn't been harsh enough.

Chapter 236: S.O.S.

An announcement is provided to the remaining teams of the eliminations of Team Purson, Team Clara, and Team Lied. Amongst Team Azz, Zeze figures that this means they're super amazing as they still have both their exam balloons. Azz thinks over how surprising it is to hear that some teams, including Clara's, have already been eliminated, which gets him worried that Iruma might be in danger. As he gets hyped up to go looking for Iruma, Silvia grabs hold of him claiming that he can't go. She explains that it was her brother's order to make sure that Azz doesn't lose focus and go looking for Iruma, which irritates Azz knowing right away that Sabro made sure to keep him in check. In return, Azz makes it clear that his top priority to protect his two first-years still remains as he casts his fire-magic towards someone quickly approaching them.

The person running towards them turns out to be the first-year girl, Marianne Pheene, from Team Kamui begging for help, much to Team Azz's confusion. Silvia asks her what's wrong, which despite not being able to handle how hot Azz and Zeze are, Marianne explains that she's being pursued by that "thing." The thing being Kamui, who's currently in pervert mode. He appears before Team Azz having been chasing Marianne across the school while the enraged other first-year girl in his group is chasing after him trying to get him to stop. As his pervertedness kicks in wanting to hug Marianne, Azz stops him in his tracks, and burns him with his fire-magic to get him to calm down. Azz states to Team Kamui's first-years that it's okay to beat up their team's senior given Kamui's pervert persona, and is about to head off, but Marianne begs Azz not to go, and grabs hold of him believing that they'd be safer with him compared to Kamui. Silvia and Zeze don't mind them coming along given that having more people will increase their fighting power. Suddenly, another announcement is made. This time from Ameri, who appears on television as the "Misfits Commander."

Ameri plays out her role for the exam claiming that there's an emergency as her "reconnaissance team," Johnny and Quichelight, have discovered a dastardly scheme within the teachers' hideout in Babyls. She explains that the teachers are bringing the hearts they collect to awaken a super powerful monster that's currently sleeping within a water tank. The monster being Principal Sullivan. Everyone is left shocked to hear that Sullivan is taking part as the teachers' boss for the Heartbreaker Promotion Exam. In addition, Opera is seen next to Sullivan's tank as a final line of defense. Ameri explains that the misfit teams must put a stop to Sullivan's awakening by reaching the device that contains him. Noting the two crystal globes near the tank, Ameri explains that at least four people need to pour their mana into the globes to make them overload and malfunction, which will prevent Sullivan from awakening.

Calling this plan the Operation S.O.S Plan (Seal Off Sullivan), Ameri wishes the misfit teams good luck, and that while they can choose to not take on the mission, they only have 20 minutes before Sullivan awakens and goes after them for the remainder of the exam. Back at the Azz and Kamui Teams, Marianne theorizes that this is probably the teachers' way of getting the remaining teams out of hiding. Azz figures only one demon would think up a plan like this, which Kamui agrees that it can only be Kalego. Sure enough, Kalego is seen smiling over the plan given what he's making Principal Sullivan do. Still angry that Kalego kept Iruma away from him during the day that Kalego tried to stop the familiar contract renewel, Azz gets hyped up to foil his plan. Ready to fight, Azz tells Team Kamui that they're teaming up in order to stop Sullivan from awakening, which Kamui agrees with.

Chapter 237: The Ideal Team Composition

A brief flashback is seen of Marianne Pheene at home. Living in a luxurious home, Marianne recaps how she's the daughter of a prestigious family, which has resulted in her being named as one of the 26 chosen first-years to take part in the Heartbreaker Promotion Exam. In addition, the first-year, Uzu, serves as her personal Security Devil, and she too got picked as one of the 26 chosen first-years. As a hardcore hot guy fanatic, Marianne is excited at the thought of being paired up with one of the hot misfits for the exam. However, that dream comes crashing down once she and Uzu realize on the day of the Heartbreaker Promotion Exam that the two of them ended up in a team with the pervert owl misfit, Kamui. Jumping ahead, Marianne runs for her life during the exam to keep away from Kamui's perverted antics only for her to run into Team Azz, much to her happiness.

In the present, Azz reminds his team and Team Kamui of the steps necessary for their team-up to complete the Operation S.O.S Plan. Kamui suggests they go looking for Elizabetta's group to add three more girls to their team, but he quickly gets scorched by Azz's fire-magic for such an idea. Azz then asks if Kamui's team know what happened on Iruma's side, which Kamui answers that his eros radar can sense that Iruma's doing naughty things with Shiida and Chima. Azz of course gets pissed off at the answer, and scorches Kamui once more. Overall, the sight of Azz and Kamui's antics leaves the first-years wondering if they're team-up's actually going to get far. Shortly after, the combined Azz/Kamui Team arrive at the stairs in front of Sullivan's office, which they find it surprising how easy it's been to already be so close. Before continuing forward, they're finally greeted by one of the teachers, who's hyped to take them on. However, Azz steps forward to take on the teacher himself. Azz calls out to Kamui reminding the latter that the former's counting on him, which a serious Kamui accepts it, and orders the first-years to follow him up the stairwell towards Sullivan's office.

As they run up the stairs, Silvia asks if they're really planning to leave Azz behind, which Kamui assures her that this was a plan he discussed with Azz beforehand in case of emergency. Having witnessed someone like Azz put his trust into Kamui, Marianne's unable to understand what it is that Azz sees in such a perverted demon. Meanwhile at Azz's location, the teacher admits that they did well splitting up without much hassle. Azz explains that it's just the given that the lowest risk is for him to hold off the teacher while the others move on ahead, which said teacher realizes that Azz is implying that he alone can hold him off. He tells Azz that he's underestimating him, and proceeds to hit Azz with fire-magic, which surprises Azz. Forcing Azz back, the fire-magic teacher asks if the student before him is ready to take on someone who's more skilled in fire-magic.

Chapter 238: My Special Attack

A narration is given of how there's a powerful demon, Ifrit: the Djinn of Fire, that exists within the netherworld. Ifrit's known as the netherworld's origin of fire where it's capable of incinerating everything it touches. One day, a demon named Eida challenged it, and in return, Eida was endowed with Ifrit's fire to the point of Eida being reduced to ashes. 100 years later however, a demon wrapped in fire was born from the spot of Eida's ashes, which is described as the beginning of the Ifrit Clan; a clan known to be masters of the most blazing flames within the netherworld. In the present, Azz now stands before Eito Djinn Ifrit, Babyls' school security teacher who uses such purple-flamed fire-magic of the Ifrit Clan. Eito blocks Azz's fire-magic with his own flames, and admits that said student has tamed fire well. Azz then summons out his Gorgon Snake familiar, Vino, to increase his battle capabilities, but Eito easily disposes of said familiar given that his flames are just flat out stronger than Azz's current fire-magic.

As Azz is about to force himself into his Wicked Phase like he did during the Harvest Festival, Eito advises against it given that Azz won't be able to control his fire-magic during his uncontrolled rampage, and that Eito will easily defeat him during his rampage mode anyway. He further advises Azz to come at him with a different kind of magic, which Azz questions what the teacher's getting at. Eito points out that Azz has another magic that can help him escape this situation since Azz's fire-magic isn't actually his true bloodline magic, which catches Azz off-guard knowing what the teacher's referring to. At that same time, Kamui arrives at the principal's office with the 4 first-years: Zeze, Silvia, Marianne, and Uzu. They spot the tank holding Sullivan, but Kamui stops them due to Opera guarding it. However, Opera plays out his role acting as a scared helpless researcher, which Kamui and the 4 first-years take as the sign that Opera's allowing them to touch the two crystal globes near Sullivan's tank.

Since the process needs at least 4 people, Zeze, Silvia, Marianne, and Uzu begin pouring their mana into the two globes to stop Sullivan from waking up, but it quickly drains them, and the mana progress bar on the globes hardly fills up. Kamui's about to step in to help provide mana, but is suddenly shot in the back by the arrival of teacher Momonoki hitting him with a blast from her magic wand. Praising them for getting here so quickly, Momonoki turns her focus to the 4 first-years, but Kamui gets back up ready to protect them from the teacher. He advises them to continue pouring their mana into the crystal globes while he faces the teacher alone. Marianne rejects the idea finding it hard to believe that Kamui can both fight a teacher and protect them at the same time. Kamui admits he already knows this, which is why his plan is to call for reinforcements. He pulls out 4 familiar summoning parchments, and holds them before Zeze, Silvia, Marianne, and Uzu figuring that they all must have already gone through their familiar summoning ritual. Thus, showing that Kamui's plan to fight Momonoki is to use his bloodline magic to buff up his team's familiars.

Chapter 239: Culture and Education

Moments after Zeze, Silvia, Marianne, and Uzu summoned out their familiars, Kamui is seen using his Translator bloodline to talk to said familiars in order to convince them to fight teacher Momonoki with him. After convincing them, they all stand behind Kamui ready to fight. The familiars being Zeze's Shine Peacock, Silvia's Chomping Lion, Marianne's Scaled Shark, and Uzu's Golem. Marianne still remains unconvinced that Kamui can pull it off, but he once more orders the first-years to continue working to overload Sullivan's container with their mana, which they return to doing. Momonoki then attacks Kamui with a Bolter lightning spell, but has it blocked using Golem's Earth Shield. The teacher then casts out Razor Wind, which Kamui counters again blocking it with Shine Peacock's Sound Wave. Momonoki is left speechless at the misfit pulling off a stalemate against her, which Kamui points out that what he's pulling off is a genuine application of classical education.

The story flashes back to when Kamui was undergoing his training from special tutor, Mister Hat, which Kamui is left stunned in disbelief that his training has him locked in a cage surrounded by many books. Mister Hat explains that given how Kamui's Translator works, said ability will greatly expand depending on how much knowledge and cultural understanding that Kamui knows. Thus, Mister Hat explains his objective to make Kamui the greatest summoner alive, which catches Kamui by surprise. Mister Hat further explains that Kamui has the ability to use an ultimate summoner technique thanks to Translator where Kamui can become someone capable of leading the familiars of others. To do so however will require Kamui to memorize every known beast-type along with ever little detail about each beast. Hence, the stack of beast information books in the cage with Kamui.

Kamui finds such training ridiculous, but knowing of his student's pervert persona, Mister Hat easily convinces Kamui to go along with it by just imagining the beasts he reads about as ladies. As Kamui starts to read through the beast books, Mister Hat says to himself that Kamui will become someone who will unite all beings under his command. He then makes it clear to Kamui that the latter has to become an expert of beasts as doing so will increase his Translate power drastically. Back in the present, Kamui stands ready with his 4 first-years' familiars prepared to deflect any more attacks from Momonoki. In return, Momonoki prepares herself to send all types of magic spells at Kamui at once. It's explained that Momonoki is a Rank 7 (Zayin) demon with the Master of All Trades bloodline ability, which allows her to master magic of any kind, and said magic's strength is proportional to her mana. She asks if Kamui can truly hold her off for a full minute, which Kamui stands ready to do so claiming that it's a gentleman's honor to monopolize a lady's time.

At that same time, the duel between Azz and Eito continues. Azz ends up becoming exhausted as he's still trying to fight with his fire-magic and nothing else, which Eito questions him as to why Azz is still refusing to use his true bloodline ability. In return, Azz thinks about Iruma; making it clear that he's worried that his true bloodline magic will affect his current friendship with Iruma.

Chapter 240: An Ode to Life in Bloom

A flashback is seen where Iruma's having fun playing with Azz, who's showing off his control over his fire-magic to said friend by showing off the flames in the form of a flower head. Iruma finds the sight of what Azz can do with his flames amazing, and claims that it's becoming more dazzling than ever before. In return, Azz explains that he's been improving thanks to master Shichiro's guidance where they've been doing experiments with his flames as part of his training. Iruma then asks the important question if fire is Azz's bloodline magic, which despite being surprised by the sudden question, Azz answers that it isn't. He admits that he's just skilled in fire-magic, but before he could reveal what his true bloodline magic is, Iruma quickly interrupts to stop Azz from answering.

Remembering what Azz's mother, Amaryllis, told him that friends don't need to tell each other everything, Iruma reveals that he's also currently keeping secrets from Azz and Clara, and that it wouldn't be surprising if Clara's keeping secrets from them as well. Thus, Iruma claims that he still desires to remain friends while they all keep secrets. He assures Azz that the latter doesn't have to tell his secret until he's ready, which Azz happily accepts. Iruma then returns focus to talking about how amazing Azz's fire-magic is. So amazing and warm that he could tell that Azz has been controlling his flames to a point where he doesn't injure Iruma and Clara with his fire whenever he chooses to protect them. Iruma happily states that Azz's current flames are great because it's made up of Azz's feelings and hard work, which Azz explodes in happiness finding it unbelievable that Iruma is providing him such touching words. Thinking about how hard he's trained in fire-magic over the years to the point of Iruma giving him such praise, Azz sets the goal for himself that his only magic will be fire-magic.

In the present, Azz readies his fire-magic once more to continue his duel with teacher Eito. Seeing Azz still relying on just his fire-magic, Eito remains disappointed at Azz's stubbornness to not take his advice about needing to use his true bloodline magic. Thus, he prepares his powerful Ifrit fire-magic ready to dispose of Azz from the exam. However, Azz is able to punch away the Ifrit fire-magic with his own flame fist, which shocks Eito. In return, Azz shows off that his training has evolved his fire-magic into hotter and more powerful blue flames. The blue-flamed Azz claims that he was hoping to save such magic for Kalego, but that his current battle with Eito has left him no choice but to use it. Azz asks confidently if Eito's ever fought someone who wields a fire he's never seen before, which the teacher stands ready to continue the duel.

Chapter 241: Blue and Purple

The story flashes back to the era of the previous Demon King where Sullivan is seen having finished up a special something that Delkira asked him to make. An excited Delkira appears wanting to see Sullivan's finished experiment, which Sullivan tries to keep it from him claiming that growing a field of flowers on flowing magma is something they need to safely test first. However, Delkira checks the experiment anyway, and sees that it's a flower of blue flames, which he calls it beautiful. In the present, the blue-flamed Azz is seen charging towards Eito, who remains confused by what he's seeing. Eito casts his purple Ifrit fire-magic towards Azz in an attempt to counter only for him to realize that Azz's blue flames are the ones drawing him in instead, and backs off.

The two of them engage in close-combat with their flames, which Eito questions what's up with Azz's blue flames being able to lure in and absorb other fires. In return, Azz answers that it's "Amaryllis," which he claims is something he made with master Shichiro after studying some top secret old documents. Deciding that he will figure it out himself, Eito prepares a massive fire-spell to see if Azz has a limit as to how much his blue flames can swallow up. In return, Azz summons around him multiple flowers of blue flames to have enough to devour Eito's large fire. After disposing of Eito's fire, Azz proceeds to land a powerful fire punch on the teacher that knocks Eito back until he crashes in the distance. Azz ends up dropping in exhaustion, but remains excited that his actions were successful. However, Eito comes out of the rubble having encased himself within his Ifrit flames to shield himself from the damage.

Instead of being annoyed that Azz is managing to keep up with a teacher, Eito goes about complaining how it makes no sense that Azz is still just a Rank 4 (Daleth) demon when said student's proving himself to be stronger than that. He even complains that Kalego's evaluation of Azz is too low, and that he will gladly beat up Kalego alongside Azz when the latter chooses to go after him. Hyped to continue the fight, Eito tells Azz that it's time for them to begin Round Two. At that same time back at Sullivan's office, a heavily injured Kamui is seen lying on the ground after taking on all the attacks from Momonoki.

Chapter 242: The Misfits' Choice

Switching over to Team Iruma, the group works to re-establish themselves after successfully escaping from Shiida with one of their heart balloons still intact. Chima remains pouting in anger that Garson got princess carried by Iruma, and keeps him trapped in her ice for the time being. Iruma asks what their next move should be, which Chima states that they're doomed if they don't go along with the Operation S.O.S Plan to stop Sullivan from joining up with the teachers. In return, Iruma agrees that they can't let that happen, which freaks Garson out given that they just got away from a teacher, and yet they're now planning to go after the principal.

Chima then interrupts claiming that she will go with whatever Iruma decides, but warns him that their team is in rough shape due to her being drained of magic energy in the last fight, having no allies, and their team having already lost one of their balloons. She figures that their team is the closest to dropping out of the exam at the moment, which causes Iruma to think about Clara having already been eliminated. Iruma realizes that he has to step up as the upperclassman while thinking over the two choices he has: to either stay put, or go on the offensive despite their current disadvantages. After thinking it over, Iruma is ready to tell the plan he just came up with.

Back at Sullivan's office, Kamui remains lying on the floor defeated due to his injures, and his allies' familiars are gone due to the summoning seals running out of time. Teacher Momonoki switches her focus back over to the 4 first-years, Zeze, Silvia, Marianne, and Uzu, who are still providing their mana to turn off Sullivan's machine, but they're still nowhere close to filling up the mana meter. Marianna begins to freak out hoping that someone will come to their rescue only for the injured Kamui to suddenly get up and grab Momonoki from behind. After Momonoki throws him off, Kamui stands between her and the first-years, which he tanks many magic spells casted from the teacher. Despite his injuries, Kamui remains standing claiming that she will not pass, which impresses Marianna, but also confuses her as to why Kamui is trying so hard at the moment; not knowing if it's his desire for a rank-up, or if he's just trying to impress girls. Whatever drives the heavily injured Kamui, he remains serious to protect the first-years from Momonoki.

Chapter 243: The Demon: Caim Kamui

A narration is provided of how the demons of the Caim Clan were able to lead many demon races in the past as an "Army of Savages" thanks to their Translator bloodline ability allowing them to understand all languages. One of such Caim demons was a large owl demon who one day led a revolt against the Demon King's army. After a long battle however, the Caim Clan ended up on the losing side to the point of almost being annihilated, which since then, they chose to swear allegiance to the Demon King. The "Army of Savages" led by the Caim Clan ended up cleaning themselves up to become gentlemen, and remained loyal to the netherworld and its Demon King ever since. The large owl demon leader is last seen bowing in loyalty before the Demon King.

Jumping forward, a baby Kamui is seen being told this story by his mother, and tells her son that while his father is a little lewd, he serves as a fine gentleman, which Kamui must one day become a fine gentleman too. As Kamui grows up, he performs his role as a gentleman, such as looking dignified, and wearing noble clothing. As he begins his life at Babyls however, he remains confused as to why he ended up in Kalego's Abnormal Class for misfit demons. During detention, Kalego makes it clear to Kamui that it was obvious he would end up here given that he's been harassing the female students, which Kamui remains unable to understand. As he goes through school with his misfit classmates however, they praise the good aspects of Kamui that despite his desire to chase after girls, he displays the manners of a gentleman perfectly. So much so that the noble misfit, Azz, gives him praise for such a similarity.

In the present, the injured Kamui stands ready to take on Momonoki. He thinks that he's proven himself to be dignified and courageous, and that he will keep going by enduring all pain and suffering thanks to his unwavering conviction; to become popular. Due to how his mother raised him, Kamui came to the conclusion that being a gentleman will one day make him popular, yet he's unable to understand why his attempts to convey his honest feelings to the girls he respects hasn't made him popular. He figures that he must be missing something beyond just being a Rank 4 (Daleth) demon, but upon witnessing his classmates all get moments throughout the first year that put them in the spotlight, Kamui realizes that the answer is probably that he needs his own opportunity to show off. He stands ready to fight Momonoki again believing this to be the moment to shine that he's been waiting for, but the moment after, Kamui ends up falling over in exhaustion due to his injuries. Suddenly, Marianne leaves her duty of overloading Sullivan's machine, and grabs hold of Kamui to protect him from Momonoki. She yells out that she won't let the teacher hurt him any further, which shocks Kamui.

Chapter 244: Sweet Spot

Marianne thanks the injured Kamui for his efforts while stating that his courageous figure has forever left an impact on her, which the shocked Kamui is unable to say anything back. Marianne angrily calls out Momonoki believing that she injured Kamui so much that he can't even talk anymore. In return, teacher Momonoki states that she's strong and won't show mercy to the point that a first-year like Marianne won't be able to touch her. Getting serious, Marianne accepts the challenge, and casts out her bloodline magic. A mist surrounds Momonoki, which she quickly catches on that it's a type of illusion magic. Momonoki prepares herself to combat whatever pops up in the illusion only to become completely shocked and confused when an injured Kalego starts to crawl towards her. What's affecting Momonoki is Marianne's bloodline magic, Illusion of Choice; an illusion magic that allows Marianne to cast specific illusions on her target based on Marianne's current desires. In this case, she desires an illusion for Momonoki to "fight against an opponent that she would never attack." The result is Kamui appearing as an injured Kalego, the man that Momonoki has a huge romantic crush on.

The panicking Momonoki tries to get a hold of herself knowing that it's just an illusion, but Kamui as illusion-Kalego grabs hold of her leg refusing to let go. In actuality, the excited Kamui sees this as a chance to touch a woman, but the shock of being touched by her illusion crush causes Momonoki to panic even further. Marianne continues to focus on casting her illusion magic believing that she can hold out for a few minutes, but starts to get a little jealous seeing Kamui grabbing the female teacher to the point of showing bloodlust. Feeling Marianne's bloodlust causes Momonoki to refocus, which she proceeds to cast certain spells on herself that counter illusion magic.

Thanks to the spells calming her down, Momonoki manages to kick illusion-Kalego off her, but she still stops mid-battle to take pictures knowing that she will never get to see Kalego in this helpless injured state ever again. Thinking the current situation over, Momonoki figures that the students' plan has been foiled since Marianne leaving the machine means they don't have the required four people anymore to overload Sullivan's machine. However, she's left confused again as to why she's still seeing four students providing their mana at the machine. As it turns out, Zeze used his magic to make a clone of himself while Silvia and Uzu are heard constantly giving him praises; implying that their praise is a part of his magic. The confused Momonoki is left questioning if she's still seeing illusions as Zeze announces to the camera that it's time for the first-year runner-up, Zeze Zepar, to steal the scene.

Chapter 245: Demons Crying Out Their Love

Jumping back to a few minutes earlier, Uzu grabs hold of Marianne due to the latter wanting to go support the injured Kamui against Momonoki. Uru makes it clear that they need to do their job breaking Sullivan's device or else Kamui's efforts will have been for nothing. However, Zeze steps between them to break them up claiming that he has a secret plan, which allows Marianne to go to Kamui. Unsurprisingly, Uzu gets angry hoping that Zeze's "plan" isn't made up, which Zeze assures her it isn't, but that he will still require assistance from Uzu and Silvia. He claims that they must tell him as earnestly as possible that they love him. Thus, confusing Uzu and Silvia. He provides them many examples of confessing one's love to him, which causes Uzu and Silvia to blush in embarrassment wanting nothing to do with it.

The story flashes back to Zeze's life at his rich home for the Zepar Clan, a clan known as love-eater demons who feed on love. At the dining table, second-son Zeze sits with his family, and has a pile of love letters in front of him. His Zepar family includes eldest daughter, Palalaika, who's a famous circus performer, eldest son, Zoui, who's a popular novelist, and their mother, Zera, who's a legendary rock singer. Like Zeze, they all have gifts of love placed in front of them, which they go about eating up all of said objects as if it's a dinner meal. Zoui ends up feeling sick after eating a present that turned out to be "hate mail," which goes to show that their love-eating ability is countered by objects of negativity. However, eating objects of love aimed specifically towards them is the source of their mana. Thus, the Zepar clan pursues popularity and high-level spell learning in order to get everyone to love them. Overall, the Zepar Clan's bloodline magic is known as Love Eater, the ability to increase one's mana depending on how much love they're given, which in turn, allows them to use high-level spells.

Returning to the present, Silvia doesn't understand how she's supposed to go along with the plan claiming that she doesn't even like Zeze, which causes him to fall over injured as if he took an actual hit to his inner organs. Seeing that such an ability might actually be legit based on Zeze's negative reaction, the embarrassed Silvia and Uzu go about yelling their love to Zeze. This allows him to use the high-level spell, Doppler, to make an identical clone of himself. Thus, refilling the empty 4th slot needed to turn off Sullivan's machine after Marianne left. As the 3 of them return to providing mana to the machine however, it's at this point that Monomoki manages to break free of Marianne's illusion magic through just brute force. Monomoki prepares a Bolt Strike and fires the lighting spell towards Zeze, Silvia, and Uzu. However, the Bolt Strike ends up getting blocked by the sudden appearance of an ice wall defending the first-years. They look to who casted the ice wall, which they see that Kerori and Elizabetta have arrived at Sullivan's office to help them out.

Chapter 246: Devilish Reinforcements

Having teamed up, the Kerori/Elizabetta group puts their plan into action to help the Azz/Kamui team complete the Operation S.O.S Plan. One of the first-years from Kerori's team, Yan Gebatee, steps forward to use his bloodline magic, Thick Skin, which allows him to conjure up crystals on himself or anywhere he likes. Thus, Yan summons up crystals all around to provide them some defensive walls against Momonoki. Meanwhile, Kerori and her other first-year teammate, Chacha Valefar, go on the offensive to attack the teacher. Kerori casts out her ice magic as a distraction to allow Chacha to strike up close. Chacha turns out to have Shape-Shifting bloodline magic, which allows him to transform into a beast to make his close-combat claw strikes more powerful.

Momonoki blocks Chacha's strike, who the latter turns out to have a bit of an attitude not wanting to take orders from people. However, Chacha falls in line after being affected by Elizabetta's seduction as she has her Full Love Gauge ability running at 80% to boost his morale, which disappoints Kerori that he's that type of guy. As Momonoki continues to hold off Chacha's attacks, she's suddenly hit by a wave of foam. Looking in the direction that the foam came from, she sees the two sister first-years of Elizabetta's team, Shin & Juju Parpar, getting involved using their Lost Mermaid bloodline magic. Shin & Juju are able to turn their bodies into foam, and control where the foam goes as long as they're singing the song needed to work their bloodline magic. Kerori then summons out her Blizzard Wolf & Snow King Fox familiars to begin attacking Momonoki.

The combined efforts of the Kerori and Elizabetta teams manage to put an exhausted Momonoki in a bind, which Kerori orders Zeze, Silvia, and Uzu to continue overloading Sullivan's machine. The mana bar on Sullivan's machine is close to filling up only for teacher Blushenko to arrive at Sullivan's office. He uses his Near Immortal healing ability to restore Momonoki to perfect health, much to the shock of all the students. The restored Momonoki then casts out a powerful Thunder Blitz spell, which blows back Chacha and Kerori's familiars. The large effect of said spell also manages to pop the heart balloons of Marianne and Zeze; leaving the Azz and Kamui teams with just one exam balloon each. As Momonoki aims to hit Uzu next, Uzu is saved at the last second by the arrival of Sabro using Weapon Creation to summon out a sword to block the spell. With his two first-year teammates still holding onto him, Sabro remains excited that he's now fighting on the front line.

Chapter 247: The Greatest Climax

3 minutes remain before Sullivan is released from his office machine to take part in the Heartbreaker Promotion Exam. Having arrived to take part in the Operation S.O.S Plan, Sabro stands ready to help his classmates hold back Momonoki and Blushenko from reaching Silvia, Uzu and the two Zezes, who are still providing their mana to turn off Sullivan's machine. Silvia's excited to see her brother, which Sabro quickly summons up metal shields with his Weapon Creation ability to protect her from Momonoki's spells that were shot at her. In addition, Kerori stands next to Sabro ready to provide him support. Suddenly, Silvia shouts her love for Zeze to continue supporting his Love Eater ability, which shocks Sabro believing that he just heard a love confession given that he doesn't know about how Love Eater works. As an embarrassed Silvia tries to explain to her brother that she doesn't actually like Zeze, the latter's hit by his Love Eater's negative word backlash to the point of falling over in exhaustion.

Zeze assures them that despite the mistake, he's out of mana and energy anyway to continue any further given that he's been using a high mana spell to make a clone. With Zeze out of commission, Sabro's two first-years teammates take the former's spot at Sullivan's machine to help Silvia and Uzu shut it down. At 2 minutes remaining, the Sabro/Kerori team-up continues to hold off Momonoki with their respective metal and ice abilities until said teacher uses an acid spell that melts through Sabro's metal shield. However, Sabro counters by showing off that he can turn his shield into offensive weapons, and shoots spears back at Momonoki. One of such spears he also throws towards Blushenko to keep said teacher focused on him, which Sabro makes it clear that he's not the same person he was a year ago, and is paying attention to his surroundings to make sure that he protects the current objective of shutting down Sullivan's machine. In return, Blushenko's surprised by how much Sabro's grown in just a year, and challenges his student to bring it on, which results in them clashing.

1 minute remains until Sullivan's release as the battle within the principal's office rages on between the teachers and students. Unbeknownst to everyone within the office, someone can be seen in the distance watching the battle from the branches of one of the Babyls campus trees. This person turns out to be teacher Robin ready to join the battle as he prepares to fire his One Hit Bullseye bloodline arrow at someone within Sullivan's office.

Chapter 248: Lurking Archer

As the Operation S.O.S plan nears its conclusion, Robin stands ready to fire his One Hit Bullseye arrow at a student within Sullivan's office. A flashback is seen of Bachiko talking with her relative, Robin, about how because they're archers, opposing demons always talk about the "despair" they bring. That they strike fear in their enemies because their arrows always hit, and tear through bodies to the point of dying in despair. She then laughs at how the best part is that such a surge of despair can happen so suddenly, and when you least expect it to the point that one such archer is enough to turn the tides of battle. She also points out how it's a shame that Robin's just a part of her branch family, but also states how she's a little relieved Robin's not part of the main family because he would surely have stolen her nickname due to his skill. That no one is more suited to be an archer than Robin.

Back in the present, Robin remains ecstatic knowing that he's about to bring despair to the students. With only 30 seconds remaining until Sullivan's released from the machine, the students are on the verge of filling up the mana meter to overload it, which Robin finds it a shame that they were so close. The excited Robin is on the verge of firing One Hit Bullseye, but he suddenly senses danger as if he's about to be killed by the grim reaper. Looking to the location of where he's sensing danger, Robin sees in the distance what looks like an image of Bachiko about to fire an arrow at him, but it turns out to be Iruma instead. Iruma fires his arrow at Robin claiming that he never misses as Robin is forced to jump from the tree he was hiding in before the arrow hits him. In return, Robin is amazed that an opposing archer was able to change the tide of the battle by breaking his focus, and single-handedly destroy his position, in an instant.

At that same time, the students performing the Operation S.O.S plan succeed in filling up the mana meter, which causes Sullivan's machine to explode. A ball filled with confetti opens up from the machine, and drops a congratulatory banner to the students for a job well done at stopping Sullivan from being released into the exam. All the Babyls students watching the televised Heartbreaker Promotional Exam cheer in excitement that the misfits and their first-year teammates managed to pull it off.

Chapter 249: Fall Seven Times, Stand Up Eight

The students who took part in the Operation S.O.S plan celebrate their success as Iruma watches from afar; feeling glad that he made it in time. Iruma's seen standing atop an ice spike created by Chima, which stretches from a hole in the school's outer wall that was melted by Garson's poison. Before Iruma could return to his teammates however, he's suddenly shot at by Robin. The arrow misses, but curves toward Chima and Garson, which it slightly misses hitting them. Robin admits that he can't believe another sniper managed to interrupt him, but remains hyped being up against the disciple that was trained by big sis Bachiko. Along with Robin, Momonoki and Blushenko remain determined as they begin their counter-attack on the students.

Momonoki quickly pops one of the balloons of Sabro's first-years, which the latter quickly moves to grab his teammates and retreat. Sabro yells for everyone else to run for their lives as the rest of the students begin to make their way out of Sullivan's office. During the retreat, Robin manages to shoot an arrow that pops first-year Yan's balloon, and one of Blushenko's ranged spells hits one of the balloons of the first-year Parpar twins; leaving the Kerori and Elizabetta teams with just one balloon each. Meanwhile, Marianne chooses to stay behind with Kamui, who's still completely exhausted after his fight with Momonoki, and unable to move. She wishes the rest good luck, but Uzu also chooses to stay behind with Marianne given that she's her loyal security devil. Impressed by how her team turned out, Marianne happily questions Uzu if their team was the best as Momonoki proceeds to shoot a spell that pops Uzu's balloon. Thus, eliminating Team Kamui from the exam.

Overall, 25 minutes remain in the exam. Teams Iruma, Azz, Elizabetta, Kerori, and Sabro all have one exam balloon remaining while teams Picero, Jazz and Schneider still have both their balloons; leaving them with 11 total remaining (Team Goemon, who also still have both their balloons, isn't mentioned). Teacher Dali sits by watching the Heartbreaker Promotional Exam unfold surprised that the students managed to complete the Operation S.O.S plan. He asks two fellow teachers about to join the exam if they think they can wipe out the remaining teams, which said teachers turn out to be Kalego and Shichiro. Claiming that this is child's play, the determined duo, Kalego and Shichiro, enter the exam.

Chapter 250: Carelessness is Your Biggest Nemesis

40 minutes into the Heartbreaker Promotion Exam, Bathin Baraki of the Broadcasting Division provides a recap of what's gone down so far, and asks for Ameri's opinion. However, Ameri is blushing in embarrassment unable to say anything after witnessing how cool Iruma looked firing his arrow at Robin. She eventually re-establishes herself explaining her overall opinion that the students managed to surprise the teachers by completing the Operation S.O.S plan, but that the teachers will surely counter by doing something extra fiendish. Bathin and the other student council members fear what she's implying, which she states that this is why two of the strongest teachers, Kalego and Shichiro, are now entering the exam.

At that same time, the combined Kerori/Elizabetta team is shown to have escaped away from Sullivan's office. They go about celebrating their victory, such as the Parpar twins getting excited at how beautiful and cool their misfit leaders were while Yan and Chacha admit that they were wrong for looking down on them for being girls. However, they're all surprised to find themselves suddenly approached by Kalego ready to battle them. Knowing who they're up against, Elizabetta and Kerori go all out with the former turning her Love Gauge up to 100% while Kerori attempts to seduce in her evidol mode. However, Kalego is unaffected, which he orders his Cerberus to attack; resulting in their remaining exam balloons being popped. With both Team Kerori and Team Elizabetta eliminated from the exam, Kalego taunts that they're 1000 years too early to entice him.

Somewhere out in the rear grounds of Babyls, Team Picero is seen still hiding deep underground in a hideout made by Picero's My Area. Picero's two first-years, Oolo Aim and Pamela Incu, turn out to be lazy students, which they go about enjoying their time just sitting around hiding with their misfit leader. The two first-years remain excited not wanting to fight, and to win with the least amount of effort, but before Picero could answer them, they're greeted by someone's hand fist bursting into the hideout from above, and quickly pops Pamela's balloon. The fist turns out to be from Shichiro, who praises hiding underground as a good idea, but also criticizes them for not being quiet, which made it too easy to locate them. Looking down at the shocked Team Picero through the hole he just made, Shichiro remains ready to fight.

Chapter 251: The Easy Way Out

With his wood dragon already summoned out, Shichiro casts out his pet's vines to completely destroy Picero's My Area hideout. Picero, Oolo, and Pamela are blasted out of the destroyed hideout, but Picero summons up a rock wall before being captured by the wood dragon's vines. He then summons up rocks around Shichiro to encase the latter within a rock wall prison. Irritated that he ended up getting one of the most dangerous teachers. Picero figures that their best option now is to fight Shichiro and escape, but Oolo and Pamela remain unconvinced reminding their team leader that they aren't fighters. Oolo suggest that they should just give up their remaining exam heart as it's the easy way out, which angers Picero to the point of grabbing hold of Oolo's shirt. Picero states his annoyance that his two first-years keep trying to go the easy route when they don't actually understand what that means. That taking it easy is a lot harder than Oolo and Pamela thinking that it's to just do nothing.

A brief flashback is seen of Picero overhearing some Babyls students in the hallway claiming that the misfits have it easy already being talented demons that get to use Royal One while being trained by famous demons, which strikes a nerve in Picero. It then jumps forward to Picero remembering how his first-years had just said that they want to win like him in the least amount of effort. In the present, Picero yells at Oolo and Pamela not to give him that crap as he and his fellow misfits have all been working hard so that they can build the best place to take it easy afterwards no matter how tough the journey getting to it is. Yelling even louder, Picero makes it clear to Oolo and Pamela that there's no easy road to taking it easy. That they must make the effort if they desire something, and that they're idiots for not realizing that he's actually been going all out this whole time. Suddenly, Shichiro bursts out of Picero's rock prison having let his misfit student finish his speech to the first-years.

Shichiro charges toward Team Picero riding atop his wood dragon. To Picero's surprise, Oolo and Pamela were influenced by the speech to the point of jumping in front of him and are ready to battle the teacher. Pamela casts an Entice spell using her vision to cause confusion on the wood dragon by looking into its eyes. With the wood dragon confused, Oolo then relies on his bloodline magic, Sun Tamer, where he creates a ball of light from his hands to blind the wood dragon and Shichiro. Picero then joins the counter-attack adding his My Area earth attacks as a large battle unfolds. Jumping ahead after the battle, Oolo and Pamela are now lying on the ground exhausted and defeated as Shichiro managed to pop Oolo's balloon during the fight. Thus, eliminating Team Picero from the exam. Unable to believe how out-of-character they were for actually trying, the two first-years see that Picero had fallen asleep following the battle. Oolo and Pamela remain confused questioning if this is what taking it easy actually feels like.

Chapter 252: Blind Spot

The dropout Heartbreaker teams are all seen eating and relaxing within the disqualification tent. Including Goemon, who's overall status for the exam remains questionable. Broadcaster Baraki is heard providing the Heartbreaker exam update that due to Kalego and Shichiro entering the exam, only 5 teams now remain. These being the Iruma, Azz, Sabro, Jazz, and Schneider teams. However, the video feed suddenly switches to Jazz being tortured by one of torture teacher March's contraptions, which the television has to quickly cut away due to how horrible it's looking.

The story flashes back to before the start of the Heartbreaker Promotional Exam where Jazz had studied up and ran countless simulations with Schneider on how he will take on the exam. Overall, Jazz is expecting to get two strong first-years to make up for having a bloodline ability focused on stealing that's not good offensively or defensively. Upon seeing the two first-years he got assigned however, he sees that they're two tiny egg-shaped first-years, which causes Jazz's big-brother instinct to kick in wanting to protect them. Using his connections and searching around the demon world, Jazz is eventually able to purchase a powerful item called a "Demon's Bank," which is a high-end safe that will keep his two little first-years protected during the exam as long as they remain locked within it. Jumping forward to the exam, Jazz is seen sitting on his "Demon's Bank" as March comes across him. Jazz claims that the teacher will have to go through him, which given that he's the torture teacher, March begins to use all his contraptions on Jazz in an attempt to break him.

While being tortured, Jazz thinks to himself that his gamble to keep March focused on him is paying off as his familiar, Spoo, can be seen elsewhere carrying his two little first-years. Another flashback is seen where Jazz is shocked to hear from his master, Furfur, that the "Demon's Bank" his student purchased is actually a fake. Jazz is left distraught that he got jipped, but Furfur assures him that this is still a good thing as he's being too blind to realize that the fake "Demon's Bank" was still good enough to fool him. Thus, he should be using it for his benefit anyway. The result is Jazz coming up with a new plan using Purson's costume head veil from the Music Festival to hide Spoo and his first-years. During the exam, Jazz sends Spoo away hiding its presense with the head veil while he remains behind with his "Demon's Bank." In the present, Spoo is seen bringing Jazz's first-years to Team Schneider, who's still in their hiding spot in a tree, to begin the next step of the plan.

Chapter 253: Silence and Release

A brief flashback is seen of Jazz and Schneider having one of their simulation meetings before the exam. Schneider's surprised to hear that Jazz wants him to be his trump card, which Jazz adds that he will send his first-years to him should he get caught. Agreeing to do it, Schneider then asks if Jazz will be okay. In return, Jazz claims that he will be fine. That he's not going to break to anyone. Meanwhile in the present, Jazz remains tied up to teacher March's torture contraption having outlasted the many tortures he attempted to perform on Jazz. March decides to bring out a very special torture item, which turns out to be a Stinger Centipede. The centipede is capable of paralyzing its target, and then stabs its stinger into a demon's back to destroy the nerve system of the body along with damaging their wing roots. Thus, the demon will experience intense pain and nausea. Holding the Stinger Centipede before the captured Jazz, March claims that he got permission to do this since Jazz will be healed after, and that it's important for students to know how much pain they can endure.

Refusing to talk, Jazz tries to stall for time asking March why he decided to become the torture arts teacher. However, March ignores it, and proceeds to shock Jazz some more. Setting up the Stinger Centipede around Jazz's neck with the stinger ready to stab into his back, March asks one last time if he wants to be released, or continue not to talk. Jazz refuses to back down, but before March could go any further, a massive ice spike blasts through the nearby wall, which leaves the two of them confused. Getting off the ice spike is the members of Team Iruma having escaped the teachers that were chasing them. After seeing that Chima and Garson are fine, Iruma looks around only to be confused at the sight of Jazz and March both looking confused at him in return.

Iruma quickly casts out his Fractal weight-changing spell make Jazz heavy, which blasts him through the floor down to the next one. Team Iruma follow down the hole as Chima creates an ice wall to close it; leaving them safe on the lower floor with the retrieved Jazz. With Jazz still tired up on the torture contraption, Iruma and Chima convince Garson to use his poison to melt said contraption while also melting another hole to further escape down to another floor. Garson agrees to go along with it, and blasts the contraption with his poison, which also makes the hole that drops them down to the next floor. Team Iruma re-establish themselves, and as Iruma checks on Jazz, the latter is shown to be trembling due to almost suffering horrible torture. Jazz shows his genuine appreciation to Iruma, and truly thanks him for the save. With Garson's heart balloon still intact, Team Iruma make a run for it with Jazz at their side. At this point, only 15 minutes remain in the Heartbreaker Promotion Exam.

Chapter 254: Declaration

After completing the Operation S.O.S plan, Silvia and Zeze make their way back towards Azz's location only to see that the school hallway's been completely destroyed due to Azz's fire duel with teacher Eito. An exhausted Azz digs himself out the rubble to reunite with his first-years, which he explains that Eito dropped a few large fireballs on him before retreating since the Operation S.O.S plan came to an end. Silvia and Zeze are left amazed that Azz was able to hold off Eito on his own, which in return, Azz offers his congratulations to his first-years for completing the Operation S.O.S plan, and even managing to get away with Silvia's exam balloon still intact. They both blush towards Azz's kind words, but before they could make their next move, a magic spell is seen coming towards Silvia, which Azz blocks it with the little fire-magic he has left to protect her. Looking to their attacker, Team Azz is shocked to see that their next opponent is Kalego, who praises Azz for managing to block his attack.

Azz tries to stand ready for another fight, but Kalego advises against it due to the former having already completely exhausted himself against Eito. Kalego then asks Azz if he's realized his own arrogance having been beaten up by a teacher using his own, much stronger, fire specialty against him. Said teacher goes further by criticizing Azz as someone who still overestimates his own strength, which has resulted in Azz forgetting to think strategically to the point of now being completely out of mana. Calling Azz immature, he asks his student, after what he just went through, if he's still capable of talking big enough to want to reach Rank 5 (Hé). In return, Azz admits that his past self wouldn't have cared. That his past self believed that he would just naturally go up since he, and everyone else, already saw him as outstanding. However, that all changed after seeing his fellow misfits grow to the point that he felt joy and excitement at their success to the point that it gave him shivers. That thanks to their influence, he's now overflowing with ambition knowing that someone (Eito) has high hopes for him, and that he's feeling frustration at the obstacle he couldn't overcome just now.

Azz yells back at Kalego that it's a given that he wants to rank up, and that he will aim higher than Rank 8 (Chet), Kalego's current rank, in order to finally punch the face of the person currently in front of him that he hates so much. Kalego accepts the challenge, and proceeds to power up while summoning out Cerberus ready to attack Azz, Silvia and Zeze. Azz stands in the way to shield his first-years and the one exam balloon they have remaining, but as Kalego's about to land his attack, Kalego suddenly disappears from their location. Kalego is now suddenly in his familiar form having been summoned by Iruma to the latter's location, much to Kalego and Cerberus' shock.

Chapter 255: Eye to Eye

Moments beforehand, Team Iruma and Jazz are seen running away from teacher March's location. Due to his team being too focused on something else at the time, Iruma didn't know about Kalego and Shichiro having joined the Heartbreaker Promotional Exam, which Jazz catches him up on. Jazz points out how much of an issue it is given that Kalego alone has already crushed several teams, but he also reveals his plan. Pulling out a summoning parchment, Jazz asks for Iruma to summon Kalego. Back in the present at Team Azz's location, Zeze and Silvia remain confused as to why Kalego suddenly disappeared, but Azz just laughs it off knowing already that this was to be expected from Iruma.

At that same time as Team Iruma's location, familiar Kalego remains angry as to why Iruma summoned him. In return, Iruma explains that it's their way of neutralizing one of the strong teachers they're up against. However, Kalego powers up, and criticizes them for not noticing the obvious flaw in their plan. That while he can't attack his familiar master, Iruma, there's nothing stopping him from just choosing to attack his nearby allies if Iruma's unable to control his familiar. Before Kalego could act, Iruma quickly covers him with his school jacket; resulting in Iruma now holding a shocked Kalego tightly against his chest while only Kalego's head can be seen popping out of his jacket front. Jazz catches on to Iruma's plan that Kalego can't attack anyone now as it will result Kalego hitting his master as well. Explaining that the reason he performed the summon is because he really does want to survive the exam, Iruma gives Kalego an order asking for help. Seeing that Iruma's serious about the order, Kalego agrees that he won't choose to attack them, but also that he won't help them, much to the excitement of Team Iruma and Jazz as they've succeeded in neutralizing Kalego.

Meanwhile, Team Sabro's seen on the roof of the second-years' school tower having successfully escaped from the teachers. Sabro checks on his two first-years, Pula Puko and Ronron, to see if they're injured, which Ronron states they're fine. In return, Ronron is left worried about Sabro's current injuries, and tries to apologize for being useless and losing one of their exam balloons. However, Sabro gives them pats on their heads for being splendid teammates, much to Puko and Ronron's appreciation. Puko then proceeds to give Sabro a hug, and calls him "papa," much to Sabro's shock as he's obviously not their father. However, Ronron gets excited as well having seen how strong and cool Sabro is, and proceeds to start hugging and calling him "papa" as well. Suddenly, Atori appears jokingly calling Sabro "papa," which surprises the latter. Atori then proceeds to land a strike on Sabro.

Chapter 256: Seek Evil

To Atori's surprise, Sabro managed to react quickly enough to block the former's strike with a shield he created through Weapon Creation. As Atori backs away, Sabro orders his first-years to stay back while trying to understand how the new teacher was able to sneak up on him. Before being able to figure it out however, Atori charges once more, and sends a barrage of hand strikes at Sabro as if he's trying to spear the latter. Wanting to protect Sabro, Puko jumps into the duel by attaching himself to Sabro, which causes the two of them to disappear, much to Atori's surprise. Sabro and Puko then reappear far behind Atori as it turns out that Puko used his bloodline ability, Jump Man, which allows Puko to teleport himself and anything he's touching to another location. The teleport distance and cooldown being based on how much current mana he has.

Sabro thanks Puko for the save as Ronron suggests that they run, which Sabro agrees with knowing that the goal of the exam is to protect the first-years and their team's remaining heart balloon. As Atori charges towards them again, Puko uses Jump Man again to teleport all of Team Sabro to another nearby spot. However, they're quickly met by Atori at the new teleport location, which shocks Sabro that said teacher was able to predict where they would appear. Atori then proceeds to pop Ronron's balloon, which eliminates Team Sabro from the Heartbreaker exam. To their confusion however, Atori continues to try to strike at them despite Team Sabro having already been eliminated. Ronron tries to get Atori to stop by showing him her popped balloon, but Atori doesn't care as his evil demon instincts have already kicked in. Atori proceeds to grab Sabro by the head, and smashes said student into the ground.

As Atori goes about continously bashing Sabro into the ground, he thinks to himself that this is Sabro's fault for being weak, but also tough enough to hold out against him. Atori starts to show increasing mouth-watering ecstasy unable to resist going through with the current situation. Despite knowing full-well that this action is going to blow his cover, the excited Atori desires to see more out of Sabro, and aims to land the killing blow. Seeing Atori's final strike aiming for his head, Sabro catches on that his heart is beating so violently that it's a sign that he knows that his death is approaching. As a result, Sabro realizes that he only has one option left to truly survive his current situation, and eats the "medicine" ball Shichiro gave him. Suddenly, Sabro encases himself within a defensive ball of spears, which one of them stabs into Atori, and blasts the latter back. The transformed Sabro then appears out of the ball of spears having forced himself into his Wicked Phase, and stands ready to continue fighting.
