Written by Justin Michael
Storyboarded by Angela Kim & Marie Lum

Ryan and Min-Gi grow up together before drifting apart and eventually being discovered the train.

Tropes:

  • Close on Title: The episode ends off with the show's title and opening tune.
  • Figure It Out Yourself: One tells Amelia that it's up to the boys to figure out their situation and get home, or else they'll die on the train.
  • Flashback: Most of the episode is a series of flashbacks showing Ryan and Min-Gi growing up together and eventually drifting apart.
  • Framing Device: The entire flashback is One and Amelia viewing Ryan and Min-Gi's memories in the Number Car.
  • Running Gag: Ryan's half of the flashback shows him repeatedly driving up in his van to let out his current fling, who all dump him. In the final one, the fling is driving the van because Ryan sold it to her... and she's still dumping him.
  • Shout-Out: Younger Amelia bears a striking resemblance to Johanna from Hilda, with a similar hairdo and turtleneck sweater.
  • Split Screen: This is used to show Ryan and Min-Gi after their lives diverge, which eventually becomes one screen again as they reconnect in the present.
  • Stylistic Suck: Ryan and Min-Gi's first "band" performance as children, with Min-Gi on the mini-synth and Ryan shout-singing the same two nonsensical lyrics over and over. Justified, with them being six-year-olds still in the early stages of exploring their musical interests.
  • Unusually Uninteresting Sight: Ryan's reaction to a train appearing inside another train and opening a swirling vortex is to stare for a few moments before chucking Min-Gi's keys into it, then going in himself so Min-Gi will have to follow.
  • Wham Shot: The shot of young Amelia and One-One with a singular eye, showing this is the original One before Amelia took over the train.
