Go To

White Gestalt have their first encounter with Solitaire.

  • Breather Episode: This is a light-hearted affair before the darker Act 2 starts.
  • Buffy Speak: London asks Lycanroc to do "that magic hand thing" before Gladion corrects with Stone Edge.
  • Call-Forward: Gladion has a golden statue of himself made after his victory against General Zangetsu and stopping Daimonji's mecha with a comment that a marble statue will be made later. Sure enough, the marble statue is standing when Chloe arrives in Blossoming Trail.
  • City of Canals: Once again, the Canals of Fondue Car is visited.
  • The Dreaded: The White Rabbit is this to the Canals of Fondue denizens, as they start screaming how he'll bring an omen of destruction to them all. Specter himself even questions what type of things the White Rabbit has done to be so feared.
  • Epic Flail: Daimonji carries one on him just in case Hippy-Hop is destroyed.
  • Everyone Laughs Ending: As Gladion races out of the Canals of Fondue Car, the rest of his group chuckle a little before following.
  • Graceful Loser: Zangetsu takes 'losing' his duel with Gladion quite well, and orders Daimonji to stand down.
  • Internal Reveal:
    • Gladion finds out about Mallow's train ride when he stumbles onto "Mallow's Magical Malasadas".
    • Lillie learns that Mallow's mother died seven years ago.
  • Loony Fan: Tokio points out that numerous members of Gladion's fan club want parts of his jacket and hair or Lycanroc's fur as "souvenirs", causing Gladion to run for his life.
  • Loss of Identity: Tokio is suffering from this, as he can't tell how much of his actions in the past were actually his own rather than the White Rabbit.
  • Named by the Adaptation: Nina's fiance is nameless in canon, but is named 'Alberto' in this story.
  • Noodle Incident: The denizens of the Canals of Fondue have met up with numerous giant robots in the past.
  • Psychological Projection: Lillie's anger, as pointed out by a reviewer, has effectively reached this stage, with her trying to paint Mallow's brother as just as bad as Gladion, despite having no idea of their past.
  • Rage Breaking Point: Gladion is calm throughout the banter against Zangetsu, until Zangetsu points out that perhaps it's not Lillie Gladion is mad at as it is himself.
  • Seven Deadly Sins: The baker in the prologue creates scones that highlight each sin, with subtle hints to several characters in the Blossomverse.
  • Shout-Out:
    • The mouse denizen who comments on the massive mech is named Ricky.
    • Tokio's new wardrobe makes him look like Hope Estheim combined with his white hair and boomerang weapon.
  • Significant Wardrobe Shift:
    • Gladion finally changes out of his bright white suit, a Zoroark-esque black jacket with orange highlights and Specter swaps his white suit for a black leather jacket. This is after the author notes that the following Act is going to get dark.
    • Tokio wears a new wardrobe to make him look like Hope Estheim to get away from his past as the White Rabbit.
  • Undignified Death: Gladion notes that Zangetsu would likely suffer this if he fell and drowned in the cheese fondue canals, and so saves him from falling in.
  • Unreliable Narrator: Gladion can tell that Varon's infomercial-esque flashback of meeting Mallow and Tuba isn't quite what happened.
  • What the Hell, Hero?: Mallow does not like Lillie chewing out her brother because he likes traveling the world, stating that even though Gladion did wrong it doesn't give Lillie the right to be bitter and spiteful.
