Marshall ends up on a road trip with Barney to Atlantic City just when Lily goes into labor. Ted sees Robin everywhere, and decides to patch things up between them.

This episode provides examples of:

  • Bait-and-Switch: Lily needs some alone time and decides Marshall needs to relax about the baby. She tells him they're going to a weekend baby boot-camp, and he wakes up in the car with Barney in Atlantic City.
  • Cold Turkeys Are Everywhere: Ted, who has hardly seen Robin since "No Pressure", starts seeing her everywhere. He talks out his problems with them, and eventually realizes that he needs to start thinking about her differently.
  • Continuity Nod: The beer Ted orders is a Wharmpuss Gold.
  • Freeze-Frame Bonus: The fake online dating profile that Barney made to trick Ted really does feature everything that Future!Ted mentions, as well as few direct references to events in Ted's life, and it even mentions Ted by name at least twice.
  • Hoist by His Own Petard: When Marshall starts acting crazy with preparations for the baby even though it's still a few weeks before its due, Lily and Barney conspire to have him go on a trip to Atlantic City to relax. This ends up biting them in the butt when Lily goes into labor earlier than expected.
  • I'll Take Two Beers Too: Marshall asks a waitress to bring 100 shots of tequila. Barney says he'll have the same.
  • Love Makes You Dumb: Downplayed. The fact that Ted didn't notice anything in the Freeze-Frame Bonus.
  • Oh, Crap!: Barney is frozen with shock when he listens to Lily's voicemail saying the baby is coming, only when he has successfully gotten Marshall blind drunk.
  • Properly Paranoid: Even while in Atlantic City, Marshall had his phone on in case Lily called. Barney managed to convince him turn it off and have a few drinks. When Barney checks it later, however, he finds its voicemail box full of messages from Lily saying the baby was coming.
  • The Reveal: This is the episode that explains the "All hail Beercules!" flashforward from "The Naked Truth". And, appropriately enough, it's the scene that ends the episode.
  • Your Door Was Open: Right after catfishing Ted on a dating site and chewing him out over the phone on his choice of mini golf as a first date, Barney walks straight into Ted's apartment to chew him out some more. Ted wonders how he got buzzed into the building.
