Summary
After being late to class on his first day, Makoto decides to try and befriend his classmates. Will the Ultimate Detective let her walls down and give Makoto a chance?
Tropes
- Call-Forward: The photo that Makoto takes of Class 78's first day of class
would later be given to him during the Killing Game. - Late for School: Due to a broken alarm clock, Makoto ends up late for class, much to Taka's disappointment.
- Non-Uniform Uniform: Taka chastises Leon, Hiro, Celeste, Sakura, Hifumi, and Junko for not wearing Hope's Peak's school uniform. They all have their reasons for not wearing the typical school uniforms:
- Leon doesn't like how itchy the leather is.
- Celeste doesn't want to wear the uniform as she sees it as lowering her exotic taste.
- The uniforms wouldn't fit Sakura and Hifumi's respective bodies, so they were given permission slips from Jin that allows them to forego the school uniform.
- Junko tries to excuse herself by pointing out how she's wearing the uniform's white dress shirt.
- Overreacting Airport Security: Though it's more "Overreacting School Security". When Makoto tries to bring his family's Shōgi board to school, Juzo accuses him of attempting to smuggle in contraband and confiscates it. Luckily, Chisa and Jin arrive to help clear up the misunderstanding.
- Rule of Three: Makoto tries to invite Kyoko over for game night, only for her to decline each time.
- Firstly, he tries to invite her to a Super Smash Bros. Melee tournament. She gives him a Blunt "No" and slams the door on him.
- Figuring that she doesn't like fighting games, he invites her to play Mario Party 5. She then gives the exact same response.
- Thinking that she might prefer board games over video games, he invites her to play in a Shōgi tournament, which actually piques her interest. She still says "no", though she's a bit gentler about it than the other two times.
