Tropes

• Five-Second Foreshadowing: As shown below, Class 78 reads a story about a thief robbing a bank and killing a guard without any witnesses seeing the thief entering and exiting the bank, with Makoto theorizing that the thief and guard were working together. Not too long after class ends, Kyoko gets a call from the police chief of the same crime happening (substituting "robbing a bank" with "breaking out of prison").
• Hidden Depths: When Kizakura asks the class how a thief was able rob a bank and kill a security guard without being seen in a story they were reading, Makoto was the one who suggested that the thief and guard were working together and faked the murder by using blood packs from the hospital via connected sewage systems. This was actually enough for Kyoko to be impressed by him.
• I Gave My Word: When Sayaka asks Makoto why he's so determined to befriend Kyoko despite her constantly declining his invitations, even claiming Kyoko to be a lost cause, he says it's because he promised Jin that he would befriend her and get her to smile.
• I Work Alone: Defied. Due to how dangerous the escapee is, the police chief tells Kyoko that she has to have a partner that's not affiliated with law enforcement that she trusts, if not able to follow her orders.
• No "Police" Option: Due to the suspect escaping from police HQ and the possibility of it being an inside job, sending a police officer to accompany Kyoko is seen as too risky.
