An elementary school teacher bleeds from the mouth in class before passing out.
Dr. House steals a muffin from the cafeteria. Dr. Cameron explains that Dr. Cuddy's taking time off to be with her baby. In her absence, Cameron will be taking over some of Cuddy's "day-to-day" duties.
Dr. Wilson visits Cuddy at home. A little later, Cuddy comes in to talk to Cameron, but House is there, tactlessly asserting that Cuddy should simply give up
Dr. Kutner calls Cuddy to tell her that House is doing a dangerous brain test on the patient. Then he patches her to the operating room, and everyone hears the crying baby, including the patient, who becomes very annoyed and demands that the sound stop. This is unusual, since an elementary school teacher tends to be able to handle the sound of crying children.
This episode contains examples of the following tropes:
- "Eureka!" Moment: Talking about Dr. Cuddy's hips and how babies are born, Dr. House realizes that one very normal after-birth event never happened for the patient, who now has ductus arteriosis.
- Product Placement: We clearly see that the ultrasound monitor is from Philips.
- Walk and Talk as the doctors discuss the results of the patient's bleeding time test and whether or not Dr. Foreman and Dr. Hadley's relationship affects them professionally.
