When she’s looking to get the handle of Lavender’s sword repaired by Caraway, she discovers he’s an old friend of her mother’s and he tells her an old adventure they went on. Meanwhile, Amaryllis messes up Sage’s potion to mess with her and results in the campus cat mutating and trying to fulfill a mission he has.

  • Amusingly Awful Aim: After Amaryllis accidentally transforms Neppy, she is taken along to fix it, which she tries by throwing spells at the cat and hitting nearby students instead.
  • Bioluminescence Is Cool: Parsley gets help from cave crabs, who show her the way by aligning in two lines and glowing in sequence.
  • Cliffhanger: The last shot shows some curse taking over roots near the Academy and making them purple and veins-like.
  • Creepy Changing Painting: Parsley tries to readjust the painting of the Triad, but their pose changes every time she looks at it. Then it activates a Pit Trap.
  • Curse Cut Short: When Rosemary is about to call Thyme an offensive name, she’s cut off by the school bell.
  • Desperately Looking for a Purpose in Life: Rosemary is tasked to decide on her warrior specialization. She struggles to come up with anything more specific than "fighting", but the story about her mom taking her studies seriously after witnessing her friends becoming talented inspires Rosemary to pick sword mastery.
  • Flashback: Rosemary recalls her mom training her to hold the sword. Later, Caraway recounts one of his adventures with Lavender, which involves them fighting a manticore.
  • Funny Background Event: While Phlox is talking to Parsley, a liquid metal starts overflowing from the furnace and pours on the floor. It's never commented on or becomes relevant.
  • Love Bubbles: Snapdragon suddenly sees Sage in front of a pink background with bubbles around her as she’s chewing out Amaryllis for tampering with her potion.
  • Not Evil, Just Misunderstood: Neppy gets accidentally transformed into a monster by Amaryllis, and the cat tries to run away for an "important mission". Turns out it tried to heal The Corruption near the school, but Amaryllis and Thyme continuously attack it and bring it back to normal before it can explain.
  • Pun-Based Title: The title refers to the cat getting transformed into a large Beast Man and Professor Caraway's reveal as transgender.
  • Secret Test of Character: Parsley’s adventure beneath the school turns out to be a test from Phlox. He sent her on the task to repair the portrait to get her to learn that she can use anything, especially a tiny hammer, to accomplish anything.
  • Training Montage: At the beginning of the episode a short montage of the main four shows them working on their skills, with some mistakes.
  • Two Lines, No Waiting: The central plot is Rosemary learning more about her mother through Caraway. The secondary plot is Sage, Snapdragon, Amaryllis, and Thyme trying to subdue Neppy Cat after getting splashed by a potion Sage tried to make. There’s also a plot with Parsley navigating the underground catacombs she discovered when trying to fix a crooked portrait.
  • When All You Have Is a Hammer…: Phlox gives Parsley a tiny hammer and asks her to fix a painting. It turns out to be a trap and the real task involves Parsley navigating through a dungeon and using that hammer to solve puzzles, meant to teach her the versatility of the tools.
