Religion is a dangerous business.

We are each our own devil, and we make this world our hell.

The death of a bodyguard leads Nick to a travelling preacher who uses his devilish Wesen appearance in his show. But his act may be a little too convincing, as a religious sect seeks to capture him.

Eve's investigation of Black Claw takes a risqué turn when she goes undercover with Renard's form.

This episode provides examples of:

  • Continuity Nod:
    • Monroe takes the cloth the Crusaders' Treasure was wrapped in to a friend of his, Dr Ian Krieger, to try and discern the faded writing. They can make out two words: "Miraculum," or miracle, and "Periculosum," meaning "hazardous, perilous, threatening. Dangerous."
    • Renard's run for Mayor gains traction, as he does a televised debate with his opponent.
  • Fanservice: Rachel Wood in her lingerie when Eve poses as Renard.
  • Fun with Subtitles: Dr Kreiger says to bring the cloth to the lab around "10ish" Thursday morning. Cue the scene where we get to see the results and the caption over the establishing shot of the university includes the subtitle "Thursday Morning - 10ish".
  • Gone Horribly Right: Dwight Eleazar uses his devilesque woge to convince people the devil is possessing him. Some find his illusion all too convincing, as he dies after being kidnapped and exorcised.
  • Jeanne d'Archétype: Joan Vark is a woman who believes it is her mission to save Dwight from his possession. Her dedication to God and her name points to her as this trope. Even her haircut seems reminiscent of popular depictions of Joan of Arc.
  • The Loins Sleep Tonight: Eve poses as Renard to pump Rachel for information about Black Claw's plans. Rachel would rather have sex first, but as she's... unfamiliar with the equipment it doesn't go well.
Eve!Renard: That has never happened before.
  • No Historical Figures Were Harmed: Dwight Eleazer is a man who goes around preaching and performing miracles, supported by men named Mark, Luke, and John, and is believed to be a dangerous figure by detractors. All of that just screams that he is meant to be a Christ allegory. Even more so, his demise is initiated by one of his members (Mark) selling him out for money, before the latter hangs himself out of shame. This echoes how Jesus was betrayed by Judas for money, only to kill himself out of shame for his actions. Dwight is also pierced in his side during the exorcism, an echo of Jesus being pierced by a Roman soldier during the crucifixion.
  • Refuge in Audacity: Dwight Eleazar, woging in public as part of a stage show. He's obviously been doing so before the Wesen Council were murdered, using the same loophole as the circus in "The Show Must Go On", where the Kehrseite audience think it's all a trick.
  • Sin Eater: Traveling preacher Dwight Eleazar professes to remove people's sins by taking them into his body, whereupon he is possessed by Satan until he successfully expels him. However, this is all an act; he's actually a Furis Rubian Wesen using his woge to make it appear as if he's being possessed.
