Juliette's got a brand new attitude.

Stronger than lover's love is lover's hate. Incurable, in each, the wounds they make.

As Hank and Nick get close to identifying a vicious serial killer, Wu's life is put into jeopardy.

Juliette forms a new alliance as she pursues revenge, and Trubel returns to Portland.

This episode provides examples of:

  • Bait-and-Switch: As Kenneth and the Verrat watch Nick's house for Kelly, they spot a figure in black approach the front door and peer in the windows before leaving. They conclude it's not Kelly as there's no child with her, but send someone to follow anyway. The figure, which the audience assumes to be Kelly, gets the drop on the Verrat following her and beheads him. The camera pans up to reveal... Trubel.
  • Big "NO!": This is Nick's heartbreaking reaction when he finds his mother's severed head in a box.
  • Call-Back: Realising the only way to convince Jack the Ripper leave Renard is to convince him Renard is dying, the gang use the Dead Faint Monroe used in Over My Dead Body.
  • Demonic Possession: Renard is being possessed by a spirit that tagged along when he was resurrected and is using him to kill people.
  • Downer Ending: Hoo boy, is it. Juliette aligns herself with the Royals, Kenneth kills Kelly and he and Juliette kidnap Diana. Trubel returns and warns Nick that she saw a bunch of people at his house, but it's already too late. The episode ends with Nick coming home to find a box containing his mother's severed head.
  • Dropped A Bridge On Her: Kelly Burkhart is Lured into a Trap, then jumped, beaten and decapitated offscreen.
  • Evil Is Hammy: Jack the Ripper, and how. After knocking out Wu and cuffing him in the back of his own police car, no piece of scenery is left unchewed as he Drives Like Crazy around Portland looking for his next victim, singing a song about murder to his literal captive audience in a strong Cockney accent.
Jack!Renard: IT'S GOOD TO BE ALIVE!!
  • Oh, Crap!: Nick calls Renard to warn him about Juliette, but someone else answers the phone with a strong Cockney accent and taunts the gang with "Sean can't come to the phone"-type statements. Convinced the killer is at Renard's house, Nick and Hank dash over there, only to find Renard's alone. This leads to a second Oh, Crap! as they realise he's being possessed by Jack.
  • Once More, with Clarity: We're shown the events of last episode's cliffhanger, but this time we can see Hank flying-tackle Monroe just in time to save him from being shot.
  • Unspoken Plan Guarantee: The gang discuss how to use the Dead Faint to get rid of Jack the Ripper, concluding that it "won't be enough" and that they need to "put on a show." Part of the plan we've already heard described; they give him the Dead Faint telling him it's a potion to help him remember being possessed so they can figure out a plan. Once he starts falling asleep, they start checking his pulse and generally behaving as if they've just tricked him into drinking poison. So far so good. That's when Jack realises something's gone horribly wrong and grabs Rosalee, demanding to know what they gave him or he'll "wring her pretty neck." Rosalee woges, bites him and dives out the way so Nick, Hank and Wu can shoot the absolute crap out of Renard... with rubber bullets, but Jack doesn't know that. Convinced his host is dying, Jack leaves and Renard's bullet wounds close over properly at last.
