An exorcism about to go very, very wrong.

We don't believe, we only fear.

The strange death of a priest has Nick and Hank asking questions of a child who was present. It seems possible the child was possessed, but Monroe and Rosalee have another explanation that allows for only one solution. Can Nick and Juliette find another answer in time to save the child?

Renard travels to Europe to confer with the Resistance and learn more about Adalind's baby.

This episode provides examples of:

  • Arbitrary Scepticism: Averted, as Nick and Hank can't really rule out possession until Juliette comes up with another explanation.
  • Demonic Possession: The accepted explanation for Daniel's condition is that they're possessed by some kind of Wesen spirit.
    Hank: So that leaves demon.
    Nick: I got nothin' else.
Hank: I wish you hadn't said that.
  • Doing In the Wizard: Daniel's condition is finally explained as a parasite he contracted on a family trip to Jordan, cured by his being frozen to the point of hypothermia, just long enough to kill the parasite but not him.
  • Famed In-Story: The Wesen Council have apparently heard of Nick, as De Groot and Alexander discuss him towards the end, saying he measures up to what they've heard.
  • Oh, Crap!: Monroe and Rosalee, when they realise there's a Grausen in Portland, and they have to tell the Council.
  • Necessarily Evil: The Wesen Council's policy of killing Grausen children. No one wants to kill a child, but as that child will grow up to become a psychopath resulting in many more deaths, it's the lesser of two evils. Fortunately, Juliette discovers the condition is caused by a protozoan infection and the gang even find a cure. Council assassin Alexander is happy to report the development to the Council.
  • The Talk: Wondering if Daniel's problems could be caused by unknown Wesen genes, Nick and Hank ask Monroe and Rosalee about Wesen hybrids.
Nick: Well, we don't mean to pry.
    Hank: Yeah, we do.
  • Would Hurt a Child: Alexander, the Wesen Council representative who is sent to kill Daniel. He's visibly troubled by his mission to kill a nine-year-old, but committed to seeing it through. He's also visibly relieved when Daniel is cured another way.
