Spurred on by what happened at the docks, Nygma and Barbara team up to discover and expose the Court of Owls. Meanwhile, Cobblepot and Ivy set to work recruiting the remaining escapees of Indian Hill.
- Captain Obvious: Penguin is looking at his portrait that Nygma defaced, and Freeze comments that there's a question mark on it.
- Clone Degeneration: Bruce's clone is slowly dying.
- Continuity Nod:
- Firefly and Freeze still don't like each other.
- Aubrey James is terrified of Barbara, remembering how she tortured him for Galavan.
- Destination Defenestration: Selina gets thrown out a window by Bruce's clone.
- The Determinator: Lee, still in denial over Mario's true nature, resolves to figure out what Gordon is up to with the Court of Owls — so she can see him locked up.
- Disproportionate Retribution: The Riddler murders the actor playing Hamlet because he thought his performance was lacking.
- Evil Is One Big, Happy Family: Ivy wants it to be. She convinces Firefly and Freeze to put aside their differences and work together, but this alliance is clearly a powder keg waiting to blow.
- Evil vs. Evil: Nygma and Barbara vs the Court, while Cobblepot and Ivy are working with others to kill Nygma.
- Idiot Ball: Aubrey James firmly takes it in both hands, eating pastry from an "anonymous citizen" after all that has happened to him personally.
- Internal Reveal: Selina learns that Bruce has been kidnapped and replaced.
- Irony: Two seasons earlier, Selina pushed Reggie Payne out of a window to keep him from informing on her and Bruce about what they know. Now, Bruce's clone pushes Selina out of a window so she can't tell Alfred the truth.
- Mythology Gag:
- Selina's implied resurrection is straight out of Batman Returns. However, the expected happens when next we see her; she survives not through being licked back to life with superpowers by mysterious cats, but through immediate medical attention and Ivy's herbal concoctions to boot.
- Freeze isolated at a faraway, frozen location somewhere until circumstances bring him back to Gotham City, also happens in Batman & Mr. Freeze: SubZero, as well as Batman Unlimited: Mechs Vs. Mutants.
- Ivy and Freeze also had an unlikely association in Batman & Robin.
- Oh, Crap!: The mayor pouring out some pills only to find they're all marked with a question mark.
- "The Reason You Suck" Speech: Selina gives a doozy to Bruce's clone when he tells he wants to save her and only her from the Court's Judgement. Bruce wouldn't try and save just her; he would try to save everyone.
- Villain Team-Up: Penguin and Ivy recruit Firefly and Freeze.
- Violently Protective Girlfriend: When Selina realizes that Bruce has been kidnapped, she goes from being friendly to nasty, very quickly.
