Lee's fiancé Mario finds himself targeted by assassins; meanwhile, Nygma tortures Butch and Tabitha to avenge Isabella, and Bruce, Selina, and Ivy find the truth about the assassins who went after Ivy.
- Accidental Misnaming: Butch calls Isabella "Isabel". Justified, because he'd never actually heard of her before Nygma started torturing him.
- An Arm and a Leg: Nygma rigs up a mini-guillotine to cut off Tabitha's hand.
- Cold-Blooded Torture: Nygma's treatment of Butch and Tabitha.
- Foreshadowing: During their dinner conversation, Mario is very interested when Lee is discussing a possible cure for Alice Tetch's blood.
- Hearing Voices: Mario hears voices whispering "she loves him" when he sees Lee exiting Gordon's apartment.
- I Never Said It Was Poison: Inverted: Butch says that he put a bullet in Isabella's head. As Isabella wasn't shot, Nygma realizes that Butch is actually innocent.
- Internal Reveal: Barbara finds out that Penguin is in love with Nygma, and realizes he's the one who must have killed Isabella. And she seems to be planning to take advantage of that information.
- Mythology Gag: When Barbara visits a bondage store to investigate Nygma's whereabouts, a mannequin sporting a catsuit and a cat-eared mask can briefly be seen in the background.
- Not Me This Time: The Court of Owls aren't the ones trying to kill Ivy.
- Papa Wolf: Falcone makes it clear to the Court of Owls that if they ever harm his son, he will end them even if he has to burn down the whole damn city to do so.Falcone: If my son is dead, winning won't be the point—GOTHAM WILL BURN.
- The Reveal:
- The assassins who were hunting down Ivy belong to the Whisper Gang, enemies of the Court of Owls. Furthermore, Falcone works for the Court, albeit under duress.
- Mario is infected with Alice Tetch's blood.
- Sadistic Choice: Press a shock trigger and kill Butch with lethal electricity, or get a hand cut off by guillotine? Tabitha chooses the latter and loses a hand.
- Ungrateful Bastard: Ivy. She uses her mind-trip perfume to get Alfred to let her out of the safety of Wayne Manor, getting kidnapped shortly afterward. When Alfred, Selina, and Bruce come to save her, she says, "About time!" Instead of, you know, apologizing for drugging the butler and ending up kidnapped.
- Wham Line: While strangling his would-be assassin, Mario demands to know why he's trying to kill him, all he said was "you know why".
- What the Hell, Hero?: Gordon nearly brings in Falcone after he and Bullock catch him assaulting a suspect in police custody on a security feed.
