  • Blatant Lies:
    • Technically, "the boat is mine" was the only true thing Lorelai said to the police woman who wanted it gone from the sidewalk.
    • Richard comments on the aggressive clipping of flower stems that Emily isn't upset, the flowers had it coming.
  • Bookworm: Rory work in Andrew's bookstore taking inventory. The books she discovers she wants to buy cost more than Andrew pays her.
Rory: (enthusiastically) This job was a great idea!
  • Call-Back: Rory brings up the time when she promised to talk to her mother before having sex and how when she got with Dean she didn't talk to her first.
  • Captain Obvious: Emily calls Lorelai back and says "Lorelai, you just hung up—" before Lorelai hangs up again.
  • Comically Missing the Point:
    • Sookie is thinking about making Chantelle take over for her while she's on maternal leave. Lorelai points out that she got her face caught in a blender, but Sookie thinks it's okay because she's gonna be fine again by the time the baby is born.
    • Lane figured the rose petals on the floor were something Zach tracked in, but he meant it as a romantic gesture.
  • Continuity Nod: Emily asks Rory if she was in Athens during her and Lorelai's Europe trip between seasons 3 and 4.
  • Embarrassing Nickname: Lorelai is Couch Potato Girl, aka The Spinster on the Couch.
  • Let's Wait a While: Lane surprises herself when she realizes her mother's influence has rubbed off on her and she wants to wait to get married to have sex.
  • Meet Cute: Logan calls it a cute meet when he helps Rory pick up the coins she dropped, but admits that it isn't, because they've already met.
  • Must Have Coffee: Inverted and subverted. Kirk can't have coffee, it makes his lungs hurt, but Luke serves him coffee even after he declines.
  • Never My Fault: Emily feigns ignorance about why Lorelai and Rory would be mad at her.
  • Passive-Aggressive Kombat: Rory gives Emily the cold shoulder.
  • Product Placement: Lorelai Netflixed all three "A Star Is Born"s and plans to watch them tonight. Worded that way because at the time, that meant they mailed her the dvds.
  • Rudely Hanging Up: Emily calls and Lorelai hangs up before she even gets a sentence out. She calls again and Lorelai does the same thing. Richard then calls and Lorelai asks about the honeymoon and the flight. When he tries to pass her to Emily, Lorelai hangs up immediately.
  • Running Gag: Luke making disgusting food and Kirk eating and praising it.
  • Seinfeldian Conversation: Lorelai and Rory have an argument about whether spring break implies dibs on the washer and drier.
  • Shout-Out:
  • The Unfavorite: Emily can't stand being this as Lorelai will speak to Richard but not her.
  • Too Much Information: Emily finds she actually didn't want to know what "mud pie" is.
  • You Know What You Did: Lorelai isn't fooled by Emily feigning ignorance about why breaking up her and Luke is offensive to her.
