Recap / Ghost In The Shell SACS 1 Episode 17

Go To

Kusanagi and Aramaki are visiting London for an inter-government conference on terrorism. Aramaki goes to visit an old frinend who runs a wine bank, which essentially is where you invest your money with expensive wine as the collateral. This turns out to have been taken over by the mafia using a bank as well as an unknown third party (later revealed to be corrupt police).

Two thieves break into the bank and this results in a hostage situation where the mafia as well as police want Aramaki to die in the matter. Kusanagi and Aramaki must actually help the robbers to stay alive while they prepare to implicate the parties involved.

  • Caught Up in a Robbery: Aramaki is discussing a Mafia scheme with the wine bank manager when a completely unrelated robbery ensues. The robbers are just trying to steal the rare wines for resale and have no idea about the Mafia thing.
  • Do Wrong, Right: Aramaki is put off by how amateurish and stupid the thieves holding him hostage are.
  • In Vino Veritas: Lampshaded by Aramaki, though the meaning is different.
  • Just Friends: At the end of the episode, Kusanagi suggests they delay returning to Japan so her boss can spend some time with his (undoubtedly grateful) female friend. Aramaki prefers to take things slow.
  • Knowledge Broker: It's not just wine that's stored at the bank, but secrets.
  • Mugging the Monster: The robbers have no idea they're messing with the Mafia, and the Mafia in turn have no idea they're messing with a guy who makes cyborg Super-Soldier war veterans sit up and take notes.
  • Show Some Leg: Kusanagi lures a police officer into an alley so he can be Mugged for Disguise.

Aramaki is Caught in a Robbery

"ANGEL SHARE". Chief Aramaki visits an old friend who manages a wine bank -- where rare bottles are held as investment instruments. They're suddenly interrupted by two robbers breaking in to rob the place, seeking enough funds to get free of the Mafia with whom the bank's upper management has been making backroom deals.
