Go To

Classified information has been stolen from a Japanese military base and the most likely candidate is the boxer, Pavlo Zaitsev, who won a Silver medal in the cybernetic Olympics. Baito is a big fan of the man's career and is hopeful that he's not involved. Baito befriends the man over their shared love of boxing and loses their first sparring match. Unfortunately, Pavlo is guilty and Baito challenges him to a boxing match where the former is soundly beaten.

  • Broken Pedestal: Batou has great admiration for Zaitsev due to his sports career but loses that when he deduces Zaitsev is the spy, and is especially enraged over his motivation behind it (see below).
  • Dude, Where's My Respect?: Part of the reason Zaitsev has turned against Japan is being a spy makes him feel important again.
  • Fallen Hero: Zaitsev is this for the entire country of Japan due to having once been a great boxer but now is a traitor.
  • I Am Not Left-Handed: Batou defeats Zaitsev by having thrown an earlier boxing match in order to give himself an edge in an actual fight. During his "The Reason You Suck" Speech, Batou points out that Zaitsev should have been able to tell the difference.
  • Let's Fight Like Gentlemen: Baito gives Zaitsev a chance to fight it out to defend himself, but the latter is beaten without difficulty.
