Go To

KAOS is discovered to be using a pool parlour as a communications base, with Max and 99 assigned to infiltrate it.

Examples:

  • Bad Guys Play Pool: The Shark and Stryker run Mother's Family Pool Parlour, which is really a front to hide that they are housing the KAOS brain computer.
  • Briefcase Blaster: Used by Stryker to kill Agent 46 at the beginning of the episode.
  • Chekhov's Skill: Inverted. Max initially volunteers to infiltrate the pool parlour, claiming he is proficient at the game. Despite receiving training from one of the top pool experts in America, Max is shown to still be completely hopeless at playing pool. The only way he can fool the Shark and other spectators is using a cue ball with a remote control hidden in 99's lipstick.
  • Covert Distress Code - Max and 99 use a handbook to interpret Agent 46's physical actions as a distress signal.
  • Hiddenin Plain Sight: The KAOS brain is disguised as a pool table in a pool parlour.
  • Retroactive Recognition: Leonard Nimoy appears as Stryker, the Shark's right hand man, although this episode only aired nine months before Star Trek premiered.
  • Title Drop: Used by Parker when explaining to the Chief and Max how to decode Agent 46's final message.
Parker: It's a secret scrawl to be used by wounded spies who want to leave us a message or a clue before they die. The translation's here on this chart—"The dead spy scrawls."
