The ninth episode of the second season of Garfield and Friends.

Post-opening sequence line: "Eat and be lazy, kids, and someday you'll have your own show, too!"

Pros and Cons

After being assigned to buy groceries, Odie is cheated out of his money by an alley cat, who trades an old sock in for Odie's grocery money. Odie returns back home sadly while Jon is very upset due to him losing the money. So Garfield decides to help him by disguising himself as a rich kid and confronting the alley cat. He pretends that he's looking for his other missing sock (that the alley cat gave Odie) and is willing to give a large sum of money for it. The ally cat takes the bait and gives the money back to Odie. Jon forgives Odie and decides to buy the grocery food himself. As Garfield and Odie are playing Monopoly while commenting there's no-one dumb enough to get fooled by that trick, Jon returns with a sock in his mouth; the same thing that happened to Odie.

Rooster Revenge

Roy laughs himself silly once he manages to prank Orson but Orson isn't too happy and tells him that he will prank him back, which Roy laughs at. Wade asks what he's going to do and Orson says the meanest thing he has ever done...Nothing. Soon Roy is offered an ice cream by Orson. He knocks it to the ground, thinking it's a trick, only to be humiliated when he sees that everyone is having Orson's ice cream. Then when Roy walks onto the old bridge, Orson warns him not to walk there, but Roy refuses to listen and falls into the river. Wade is surprise that he doesn't prank him. Orson just tells him that he doesn't need to as his paranoia is doing the work for him.

Soon Roy is so paranoid that he keeps assuming Orson will prank him, until a national ranger who looks like Orson comes to inspect him. Roy assuming this is a trick and pranks him into the mud instead until the real Orson appears, shocking Roy. The ranger threatens to send him to the South Pole, scaring Roy away. As he leaves, Orson laughs, confusing Wade. Orson explains that even though he wouldn't prank Roy, that doesn't mean someone else wouldn't as the ranger reveals "himself" to be Lanolin in disguise.

Lights! Camera! Garfield!

Garfield accepts a job as a movie stunt double after he thinks that he will be famous with larger roles. Unfortunately, it turns out his role as a stunt cat is to be put into the scene just in time for horrible things to happen to him.

"Pros and Cons" contains examples of:

  • "Could Have Avoided This!" Plot: At the end of the episode, when Jon decides to get the groceries, Garfield points out it's what he should have done in the first place.
  • Here We Go Again!: This episode ends with Jon getting conned out of his money by the alley cat.
  • Hypocritical Humor: Jon berates Odie for getting conned out of money for an old sock but Jon is also conned.
  • Idiot Ball: Jon for 1). Sending Odie to get groceries and then 2). Walking to the alley where he meets up with the alley cat rather than driving to the store.
  • Obfuscating Stupidity: Garfield does this to con the alley cat.
  • Violin Scam: Garfield does a variation of this con to get Odie's money back.
  • Who Would Be Stupid Enough?:

"Rooster Revenge" contains examples of:

  • Exact Words: Just because Orson said he'd do nothing to Roy, it doesn't mean Lanolin wouldn't do anything.
  • Latex Perfection: Lanolin wore a pig outfit that looks like Orson with a ranger outfit and a fake mustache.
  • Oh, Crap!: Roy when he realizes the ranger isn't Orson in disguise.
  • Paranoia Gambit Orson uses this to play on Roy, forcing Roy to screw himself up by his own paranoia.
  • Reassigned to Antarctica: The ranger threatens to send Roy to the South Pole for everything Roy did to him while under the impression he was Orson pretending to be a ranger.

"Lights! Camera! Garfield!" contains examples of:

  • Bears Are Bad News: One of the scenes was to involve a bear attacking Garfield. However, Garfield had poured honey on the director's chair, so the bear goes after him instead.
  • Exit, Pursued by a Bear: A literal example; Fettucine is chased off by a bear and has to hop away because Garfield poured honey on his chair.
  • Obvious Stunt Double: Garfield looks nothing like that cat he's playing "stunt cat" for.
  • Piano Drop: Garfield's first scene as stunt cat involves getting a piano dropped on him.
  • Prima Donna Director: Federico Fettuccine definitely fills this role, complete with his entourage of Yes-Men.
  • Reading Ahead in the Script: Garfield reads ahead to find out about the bear attack, causing him to put honey on the director's chair.
  • Shark Pool: The second scene Garfield is in takes place in a shark pool. With real sharks.
  • Trrrilling Rrrs: Federico Fettuccine speaks like this.
  • Yes-Men:
