Chandler, who has recently been promoted, has to fire someone but he doesn't want to. He ends up dating the girl and trying to convince his boss she is crazy.
Joey falls in love with Ursula, Phoebe's twin sister, despite Phoebe being unhappy about it.

- Character Overlap: Before Friends, Lisa Kudrow was playing the ditzy waitress Ursula in Mad About You. When the two series began airing together, Ursula was written as Phoebe's twin sister.
- Crossover: With Mad About You. Ursula the waitress from that show is revealed to be Phoebe's estranged twin. Later, Jamie and Fran meet Phoebe and mistake her for Ursula.
- Didn't Think This Through: Chandler starts dating the girl he has to fire, and keeps putting it off because of this. Rachel points out that this really just makes it worse as she's going to be fired by her own boyfriend.
- Lamaze Class: Ross starts attending these classes with Carol and Susan. When Carol has to miss a session Ross and Susan argue over which of them has to substitute as "the woman" and potentially miss out on partner training.
