"I got it! It's 500,000!"

Uncovering an ancient map leading to the Lost Treasure of the Fraggles, Gobo and Red try to find it on their own. When the map leads to the Gorgs' castle, they decide to bring their friends along. They find the treasure and discover it's a music box.

This episode contains examples of:

  • Early-Installment Weirdness: When the music box wakes the Fraggles in the Great Hall, one of them is holding a baby Fraggle. The idea of showing baby Fraggles was later dropped, as the show's creators decided not to get into the issue of Fraggle reproduction.
  • Go-to-Sleep Ending: Inverted. While the Fraggle Five are listening to the music box, the tune wakes the other Fraggles, who gather round to listen as well. The episode ends with everyone la-la-ing along.
  • Inexplicable Treasure Chest: The music box is behind a loose brick in a wall of the Gorgs' castle. It's never explained why Fraggles' treasure is hidden in the home of creatures who are always trying to trap or thump them.
  • Instrumentals: Other than the theme song, this episode does not have any musical numbers with lyrics. Instead, it has three instrumental pieces:
    • "Cave Flute," played by a nameless Fraggle who's passing by after Red and Gobo find the treasure map.
    • "Mokey's Jam Session," played by Mokey on the flute, Boober on the washboard, and Wembley on the bongos.
    • "Music Box Song," the tune the music box plays.
  • The Key Is Behind the Lock: Doc comes home with an old trunk he got at a rummage sale, then spends the episode trying to open it. When Sprocket finally gets it unlocked, it's revealed that the key to the trunk is in it.
  • Lethal Chef: Ma Gorg is terrible at making peach-and-garlic pie.
  • Money Dumb: Uncle Matt finally learns what to do with coins: put them in fountains. He dumps in his entire backpackful.
  • Noisy Shut-Up: Red yells, "QUIET!" when Mokey, Wembley, and Boober are playing music instead of listening to her and Gobo.
  • Noodle Incident: Gobo makes an enigmatic reference to Fraggle history. When he finds the treasure map, he says that it was drawn at "the time of the Third Drafting," which was "about a zillion squintillion days ago!" It is never explained when the Third Drafting was, or what it refers to.
  • An Odd Place to Sleep: A Fraggle is shown asleep on the floor of the Great Hall, just before the music box wakes him.
  • Power of Trust: At first, Gobo and Red decide to keep the treasure to themselves. On finding out the treasure is in the Gorgs' castle, they decide without a moment's hesitation to get the help of their friends.
  • Rollerblade Good:
    • How Gobo and Red find the map. Sprocket has been trying out some roller skates Doc got for him at a rummage sale. While Gobo is getting Uncle Matt's postcard, Sprocket loses a skate. Gobo accidentally lands on it and rolls back down the hole, running into Red and taking her with him. The two crash into some boulders, which move, revealing a cave containing the map.
    • Throughout the episode, Doc has been trying to open an old trunk he got at the same rummage sale. At the end, Sprocket accidentally skates into the trunk, unlocking it. In it is the trunk's key.
  • Treasure Hunt Episode
  • Treasure Map: What sets the plot off.
  • Unconventional Food Usage: Ma makes a peach-and-garlic pie for Junior. Its crust is so tough and rubbery that he can't cut it, so he leaves it outside the castle, which has a Dutch door. That night, the upper half of the door has been left open. To get into the castle so they can look for the treasure, the Fraggles bounce on the pie and onto the lower half of the door. Everyone makes it except Boober, who gets stuck in the pie when the crust finally breaks. (He goes back to the Rock while the others are getting the treasure.)
  • Worthless Treasure Twist: Averted. While the Fraggles assume the treasure is a chest full of diamonds, they are happy when it turns out to be a music box.
Red: You're right, Gobo. We are rich.
Gobo: Then you don't mind not getting the diamonds?
Red: Oh, they would have made nice skipping stones, but... this is a lot better.
  • The X of Y: The episode's title.
