As the Training Camp reaches the halfway, the students are assigned to create an egg-based dish for the breakfast buffet.
This episode provides examples of:
- Adaptation Expansion:
- Ryoko, Yuuki, Shoji and Daigo are included in Isshiki's dream as gang members of Megumi's pose. They weren't shown in his dream in the manga version.
- More people are shown making preparations for the Buffet Trial.
- Cliffhanger: Takumi and Megumi discover that, only with 30 minutes left, Soma is behind with only 8 plates served.
- Early-Bird Cameo:
- Nao Sadatsuka can be seen stalking Erina during the training sessions.
- Miyoko Hojou is also cooking in her red Qipao.
- Madoka Enomoto is seen in the trial run next to a tired Marui.
- Establishing Character Moment: Both Alice and Ryou infront of Soma. Alice presents herself as The Gadfly, who then turns into a Spoiled Brat when her mood is ruined by her assistant Ryou, who barely reacts to his mistress whining and stares directly at Soma.
- Evolving Credits: The rotating dish in the opening changed. For the ending "Spice", the foodgasm reaction is from Daigo and Shoji.
- Failed Dramatic Exit: Alice attempted to intimidate Soma by staring at him and leave him wondering... until she bumped into Ryou.
- Fangirl: Hisako admired Erina's full confidence as she was the first one to end her test runs. Even after Erina asks her if they are going to play cards at their room again, Hisako still thinks to herself that Erina is the most awesome person in the academy.
- Impossibly Delicious Food: The episode showcases four:
- Takumi Aldini's Insalata Frittata, consisting of a fresh salad with chunks of fritatta, parmessan cheese and a balsamic vinaigrette.
- Megumi Tadokoro's Breakfast Oden, consisting in quail eggs, vegetables, octopus and fishcake in oden broth was so good that the toughest customers were delighted instantly, to the point one of them asked if she could marry his grandson.
- Ikumi Mito's Petit Size Loco Moco Don was made with hamburger steak and a vinaigrette sauce that greatly enhanced the egg in her dish.
- Erina Nakiri's Eggs Benedict is the one that receives the most praise — along with the crisp bacon, creamy poached egg, acidic hollandaise sauce and soft sweet muffins, she also used karasumi (dried mullet roe turned into a powder). Every person who eats it gets a golden aura and glowing golden clothes.
- Moment Killer: Isami and Ryou managed to be this, when their pairs tried to intimidate Soma. First, Isami started to spill the beans about Takumi's dish, to his brother's irritation. Then Ryou foiled Alice's dramatic exit and lost the balls he used to intimidate people.
- Mood Whiplash:
- Takumi declares that he is going to beat Soma with his own Italian breakfast. When Soma asks about it, Isami happily starts to explain, to Takumi's frustration.
- Alice's first attempt to intimidate Erina is treated in a serious tone. When she tries to do this with Soma, she instead gets the mood ruined because she bumped into Ryou and she starts to whine to him.
- No Indoor Voice:
- Soma shouts a big "Delicious!!" during his trial, startling all the other students around.
- Takumi shouts excited that he is going to defeat Soma with his new "perfect dish". Isami just tells him to go take a nap.
- Sleeps in the Nude: Isshiki sleeps naked, except for a sleeping hat.
