Recap / Family Guy S7E9 "The Juice is Loose!"

Go To

Peter wins a contest where the prize is spending the day with O.J. Simpson — which doesn't sit well with everyone, as they don't believe O.J. is innocent.

Examples:

  • Artistic License – History: The opera depicting Nicole Brown's murder portrays her as cheating on O.J. at the time of her death. In reality, they had been divorced for around two years. And police reports claim her relationship with Ron Goldman was platonic.
  • Bait-and-Switch Comparison: This exchange occurs when Mayor Adam West leads an angry mob to Peter's house upon finding that O.J. has come to visit:
West: We don't want you in our town, Simpson! We don't love you like we did in 1993!
    Homer Simpson: D'oh!
West: And as for you, O.J., we don't want you here either!
  • Broken Pedestal: Brian points out that Peter can't accept the fact O.J. is a psychopath just because Peter is still holding onto his memories of when he was younger and O.J. hadn't committed murder yet. Only at the end does Peter finally see reason when O.J. randomly murders three people for no reason.
  • Childish Pillow Fight: Peter and the guys get into one, and it quickly escalates into an all-out brawl.
  • Filler: The episode is infamous for using a 3-minute long clip of Conway Twitty and was criticized as a cheap move to reduce on animation.
  • Parental Neglect: Peter expects Stewie to put himself to bed, leading to Stewie getting stuck on the roof (with a racoon), while Peter and his friends have fun downstairs. Lois is furious with Peter when she finds out.
  • Screw This, I'm Outta Here: Once O.J. finds out Peter is wearing a wire, Joe and Quagmire wordlessly ditch him by hitting the gas.
  • "Shaggy Dog" Story: At the end when everyone in Quahog finally put their dislike for O.J, Simpson to rest, he murders three people, prompting the town to chase him, meaning that Peter’s cause to show people the good in O.J. was All for Nothing.
Peter: Oh, I guess he did do it.
  • Stupid Evil: O.J. has an angry mob after him for what he did back in 1994, but he's able to convince them to give him another chance by saying that he's not perfect (and nobody is). Then, for absolutely no reason, he murders three people in cold blood and reignites the mob's hatred of him (with even Peter giving up on him at that point).
  • Take That!: At The Simpsons with Mayor Adam West saying, "We don't want you in our town, Simpson! We don't love you like we did back in 1993."
