Lois becomes a reporter for Fox News, while Peter creates a cartoon series for FOX.

Examples:

  • All for Nothing: Peter bough a new HD TV especifically so he could watch the attractive reporter Fox News has. However, not only did the new HD format reveal how unnattractive she really is, but to rub salt on the wound, the program then airs a segment about a new format that makes HD obsolete.
    Peter: Son of a bitch!
  • Amateur Film-Making Plot: Peter Griffin develops a cartoon to pitch to FOX, "Handi-Quacks." Naturally, the finished product looks very much like something Peter would make.
  • Art Shift: Peter's "Handi-Quacks" cartoon pilot is rendered in the style of a child's crayon drawings with even more Limited Animation than usual.
  • As Himself: Seth Rogen voices himself on the TV.
  • Bowdlerization: In the DVD version after Seth Rogen says the f word, he adds “Did you eat pussy backstage?”
  • Butt-Monkey: Half of the creation of "Handi-Quacks" is all about Peter constantly demeaning Meg's Brutal Honesty on how absurd his ideas are, leading him to fire her while praising every single thing Chris says.
  • Canon Discontinuity: This episode claims that numerous celebrity personalities, including Rush Limbaugh, were created by Fred Savage. However, this is retconned two seasons later in “Excellence in Broadcasting”, as Rush Limbaugh is back to being a real, independent person. This is Hand Waved by Lois, who claims that everything that FOX says is a lie, including things that were once true.
  • Cast as a Mask: While Fred Savage provides his own voice when appearing as himself, his Michael Moore voice was provided by regular series voice actor Mike Henry.
  • Expository Theme Tune: Peter Griffin comes up with such a theme song for "Handi-Quacks," written and produced rather poorly, of course.
"And they never got their sodaaaaaa!"
  • Full-Body Disguise: Fred Savage surprisingly shows an excellent skill at this, coming up with various aliases such as Rush Limbaugh, Michael Moore and various other actors to satisfy his need to continue acting after The Wonder Years ended.
  • Limited Animation: Peter's "Handi-Quacks" cartoon is produced this way, naturally.
  • Mistaken for Gay: Lois is ordered to spy on Michael Moore, who's rumored to be gay and appears to be in a relationship with Rush Limbaugh. It eventually turns out both guys are just characters Fred Savage invented and dressed up as to continue his love of acting.
  • Older Than They Look: When Peter, Cleveland, Joe, and Quagmire are looking at each other's driver licenses at The Clam, Quagmire is revealed to have been born in 1948, and is currently 61 years old.
  • Parody Assistance: When we hear Fred Savage's inner thoughts ala The Wonder Years, Daniel Stern even provides the inner monologue voice, as he did in the actual show.
Fred Savage: I DON'T NEED YOU ANYMORE!
  • Quacking Up: A Show Within a Show example; Peter produces a pilot for an animated series called "Handi-Quacks", which is about a trio of handicapped ducks.
  • Stylistic Suck: Peter's "Handi-Quacks" cartoon, hands down.
  • You Need a Breath Mint: Ellen DeGeneres’ fish breath is clearly shown on the HD TV screen and Seth Rogen is dismayed.
