Recap / Family Guy S19E13 PeTerminator

Go To

In the Cold Open, we get a naked Peter show up behind the Drunken Clam. Inside The Clam, the real Peter goes to the bathroom and makes a mess.Meanwhile, after getting broccoli for dinner, Stewie decided he's fed up with Lois and draws up design plans for a Terminator that looks an awful lot like Peter. However, unbeknownst to him, there's a Terminator, Peter from before, after him.

Tropes for PeTerminator:

  • Bait-and-Switch:
    • When PeTerminator encounters Ernie the Giant Chicken, you'd think we'd get the gag where Peter and Ernie would have one of their brawls. Instead, PeTerminator just shoots his head to pieces, takes his jacket, and steals his motorcycle.
    • When PeTerminator hops on said motorcycle, we hear the opening notes of "Bad to the Bone", and he sings, "B-B-B-B-B... BIRD... B-B-B-B-B-B-B-Bird.... B-B-B-B-B-B-Bird...... B-Bird is the word!"
  • Camera Abuse: When PeTerminator closes in on Stewie and Brian, we get a close up to Stewie's face... and the camera hits it, much to his annoyance.
  • Call-Back: Once again, Stewie hatches an Evil Plan to get back at Lois for trying to feed him broccoli, which he hates.
    • We get another variation of the "Cool Whip" gag.
  • CamelCase: The episode's title.
  • Disproportionate Retribution: What kicked off the feud between Brian and Stewie (one that eventually escalated to an all-out war between them) was a comment on an Instagram post.
  • Furry Reminder: What's the first thing that happens when Brian meets his future self? They chase each other's tails.
  • Killed Off for Real: A throwaway line implies that Cleveland's mom, Cookie, passed away.
  • Limited Animation: Parodied. Stewie says he wants to take a brake for the sake of the animators because they're parodying one of the most action-packed movies of all time. Brian asks why Stewie cares, and Stewie decides to make the animators work harder by describing an intense scene. The animators, however, depict the action offscreen.
  • Naked on Arrival: When PeTerminator first appears, he is completely naked except for his glasses.
  • Noodle Incident: Taking dog lifespans and Brian's age (around 8) into account, one would have to ask exactly how he prolonged his lifespan to continue a war with Stewie or, for that matter, how he learned to build Terminators.
  • Plot-Mandated Friendship Failure: The whole point of the climax is for Brian and Stewie to avert this to avoid the bad future where they are at war with each other.
  • Special Edition Title: The title sequence has all the characters as flaming skeletons as if Judgement Day occurred, as dramatic music plays and the camera pans across the devastation.
  • Take That!:
    • Towards Big Mouth with the naked PeTerminator saying, "This isn't Big Mouth. You're not gonna see it".
    • They also make a jab at Rick and Morty with Stewie claiming they they've borrowed plenty from them.
    • Cleveland keeps a gun on him "in case people try to Make America great again."
  • Whole-Plot Reference: To Terminator, specifically to Terminator and Judgment Day
