Tropes

  • All Just a Dream: The entire episode was mostly a dream simulation made by Stewie.
  • All Women Hate Each Other: The very first thing Lois, Meg, and Bonnie did in their simulation is to fight each other.
  • Call-Back: Much like in the "Stewie Kills Lois" two-parter, nearly all of the episode turns out to be a simulation run by Stewie to prove Brian wrong about something, only to be proven right in the end.
  • Comically Missing the Point: Finding a police uniform, Joe is convinced this means he's a stripper.
  • "Everyone Is Gone" Episode: Peter, Brian, Joe, and Quagmire are driving when they see a bright light and suddenly wake up in a hospital to find they are the only people around.
  • Fire-Forged Friends: The entire purpose of Stewie’s simulation was to find out if Peter and Brian are made to be utter best friends. And they were!
  • Foreshadowing: Peter turning off "Surfin' Bird" is a serious out-of-character moment for Peter due to his obsession with the song (he still enjoyed the song the last time he lost his memory, so it's not because he can't remember it). This is more than enough proof that this was all Stewie's forced simulation.
  • Graceful Loser: Stewie reveals he created the simulation to prove that Peter and Brian were only friends through circumstance and didn't have a deep bond, but he forthrightly admits that he was proven wrong.
  • Jerkass: Lois scoffs at the idea of Peter and Brian being buddies, explicitly saying the former owns the latter like a piece of property.
  • Losing Your Head: In a cutaway gag, Stewie is with a woman who has a friend whom she claims is gorgeous. When the friend comes around, she is headless and holds her head under her arm like a basketball.
  • Poor Communication Kills: Peter is mistaken for an alien after the other three guys see the fake newspaper Peter got after winning laser tag earlier in the episode. Rather than ask him to explain himself, they plot to kill him, so when Joe and Quagmire get back from the hardware store and Brian (who was asked to keep an eye on Peter but ended up bonding with him) says that Peter's a good guy, they assume he must be under mind control and try to shoot Peter anyway.
  • The Power of Friendship: Even with their memories wiped, Peter and Brian are drawn to be friends.
  • Self-Deprecation: Briefly listening to "Surfin' Bird" on the jukebox, the amnesic Peter remarks that the song is annoying.
  • Territorial Smurfette: After explaining everything to Brian, Stewie reveals he's also trying a similar simulation on Lois, Meg, and Bonnie. In contrast to the guys investigating their circumstances, discovering each other's names and getting along with each other before the big misunderstanding, the monitor shows the three women fighting each other.
Stewie: They've only been in there for three minutes. Haven't even tried to figure out each other's names yet.
