Meeting up with their Lucy and learning she can still use her magic in Edolas, Earthland's Fairy Tail continues their trek to the Royal Capital, and receive aid from a face that is very familiar to Dante.
- Alternate Self:
- Gajeel's Edolas counterpart is a smartly dressed and eloquent Intrepid Reporter.
- In contrast to Natsu's severe motion sickness his counterpart is a Badass Driver... and a complete pushover outside of a vehicle.
- Bad Boss: The Edolas royal soldiers aren't fond of Nelo Angelo, not helped by him Neck Lifting one for badmouthing him.
- Badass Normal:
- Despite having no innate magic, Edolas Natsu and Eva manage to save the Earthland Fairy Tail members from Nelo Angelo in a nick of time.
- While he lacks his counterparts fighting skills, Edolas Gajeel has managed to be a thorn in the Kings side by virtue of being a Guile Hero and very determined Intrepid Reporter.
- Big Brother Instinct:
- When Nelo Angelo holds Wendy hostage, everyone is itching to pummel him. Dante wastes no time grabbing her when the Fireball's arrival frees her from The Dragon's grip.
- Edolas Eva mentions that Elfman and Lisanna were worried about Lisanna when they heard she decided to accompany the Earthland Fairy Tail members.
- Big Damn Heroes:
- Horolgium managed to do this to Lucy when the Anima hit, preventing her from being absorbed.
- Edolas Natsu and Eva arrive just in time to give the Earthland Fairy Tail members an escape from Nelo Angelo and the royal guards.
- Big "SHUT UP!": The reaction of all three Lucy's to Dante's teasing.
- Blood Knight: Nelo Angelo is happy to face off against Dante, even expressing disappointment at hearing his opponent isn't at his best.
- Boyish Short Hair: To distinguish between the two Lucy's, Cancer cuts Lucy Ashley's hair short, in contrast to Lucy Heartfilia's own long hair.
- Brutal Honesty: Played for Laughs when Dante shoots down Lucy's suggestion that she can use her magic in Edolas because she is the legendary heroine meant to save Edolas.
- Cool Car: Natsu Dragyon's The Fireball, running off a rare flammable magic substance.
- Crush Blush: Mutual case between Natsu and Lisanna upon the former seeing the latter in a Modesty Towel.
- Curb-Stomp Battle: Fairy Tail against the royal soldiers has them take down the latter in droves. Downplayed in they still had to retreat due to the sheer numbers involved.
- Dare to Be Badass: Dante gives such a speech to Lucy Ashley, echoing the words of his father.Dante: My old man used to tell me, when you have power, don't use it for yourself, use it to stand up for those who can't stand up for themselves. All livings beings have right to pursue there own happiness. When someone tries to take the right away from them, stand up to that. someone get him back down. If they won't listen to reason then take a stand, even if you're staring straight at the gates of hell itself. Don't back down, fight.
- Didn't See That Coming: Lucy is shocked to learn that the others can't use their magical or demonic powers.
- Elemental Motifs: Between Earthland Natsu's Fire Dragon Slayer Magic and Natsu Dragyon's fire magic fueled Cool Car, Dante notes both are associated with the element in question.
- Everyone Has Standards: While Dante admits he wouldn't mind taking up Lucy Ashley's advances, he declines by citing the presence of Wendy (a child) in the room.
- Heart Is an Awesome Power: Ares' wool proves capable of incapacitating the royal soldiers, rendering them so comfortable they're unwilling to fight.
- Idiot Hero: Natsu thought it was a good idea to steal an airship... in plain view of Nelo Angelo. When the others bring up his motion sickness and he suggests Wendy can fix that with Troia, Dante reminds him that they're all without their magic at the moment, including her.
- Instant Expert: Despite just picking up Cerberus, Lisanna displays decent proficiency with the triple nunchuck against the royal soldiers.
- Intrepid Reporter: Edolas Gajeel in a nutshell, having managed to amass numerous enemies this way.
- Leeroy Jenkins: From Lucy of all people, who assumes her Celestial Spirits would be enough to get through the guards and Nelo Angelo to capture the airship. Leo proves capable of dispatching the guards easily enough... but is swiftly defeated by Nelo Angelo.
- Like Father, Unlike Son: Jokingly suggested by Modeus when Dante takes a moment to admire his reflection.
- Modesty Towel: Both Lucy's leave the bathroom clad in nothing but towels, and are accompanied by an embarrassed Lisanna. Lucy Ashley is unphased, but the other two are mortified.
- Other Me Annoys Me: Inverted with both Gajeel's. Despite their many differences (being a Sharp Dressed Guile Hero and punk clothed Blood Knight) they greatly appreciate one anothers qualities, determination to battle oppressive authority and speak the truth no matter how unpopular, and immediately hit it off.
- Point of Divergence:
- Dante is the one to burst Lucy's daydream rather than Natsu.
- Lisanna stays behind to help Earthland Fairy Tail rescue their friends.
- Instead of using Virgo against the royal soldiers, Lucy brings out Leo for extra insurance... only for him to suffer the wrong end of a Punch Catch from Nelo Angelo and quickly dispatched to show how terrifying the demon is.
- Since they're using Dante's weapons instead of the limited use magical items from canon, the members of Fairy Tail hold their own much better against the royal soldiers.
- Rather than Natsu dragging his Edolas counterpart out of the Fireball to ask a stupid question, Dante pulls him out in anger at his dismissive attitude.
- Proud Beauty: Dante is a Rare Male Example, admiring his reflection after stating that it's important to look good while you're saving the world.
- Ship Tease: During the Modesty Towel incident above, Natsu only pays attention to Lisanna. He even bashfully apologizes for looking.
- Speak in Unison: The three Lucy's "SHUT UP DANTE!" Lampshaded by Wendy.
- Weaksauce Weakness: Natsu's motion sickness is played up again, in contrast to his Edolas counterpart, a Badass Driver... who is an absolute pushover the second he's outside of the vehicle.
- Wham Shot: For both the readers and Dante, when the person accompanying Natsu Dragyon is none other than Eva, the Edolas counterpart of his mother!
- The Worf Effect: Nelo Angelo easily pulls a Punch Catch on Leo's Regulus Impact, and dispatches him in short order, showing he's not just a threat to the non powered people of Edolas.
- Would Hurt a Child: Nelo Angelo has no issues taking Wendy hostage.
- You Monster!: The Earthland members of Fairy Tail are on the same page as the Edolas ones regarding Nelo Angelo, openly considering him one.
